“I already tried to kill her, but there was only a dead dog in that hotel! She’s alone, but she still managed to escape without any help. Do you think a woman like her won’t fight with me over President Wenley?” Janice sneered.

Hannah also frowned suddenly. Didn’t Janice say that Shannon was a simple-minded person who could be easily destroyed?

“What are you going to do then? Isn’t she gone now? Anyway, President Wenley doesn’t want her anymore. As long as you marry President Wenley, everything will naturally be fine.” Hannah still insisted that Max loved Janice.

But Janice herself knew that the current Max was no longer her Max of the past.

“It’s been a few months since I returned to his side, but he hasn’t touched me at all, even though he’s still in his prime. Do you really think he still loves me?” Janice’s face was full of worry when she mentioned this.

She had never been so unattractive to a man before.

“What? Which man would be able to remain calm when they see a woman like you? Did that really happen?” Hannah was in disbelief.

Janice was extremely depressed. The only explanation for this situation was that Max didn’t love her at all.

“He does treat me extremely well. He was the one who bought this villa. I don’t have to do anything now, and I don’t have to worry about money either. However, it just appears that he can’t be intimate with me at all.” A trace of worry flashed across Janice’s eyes.

There seemed to be two voices in her mind. She didn’t want to believe that Max had really fallen in love with Shannon. It had only been three years, plus, what kind of man would fancy such a plain woman like her?

Yet, another voice told her that Max’s actions all this time showed that Shannon already occupied a place in his heart.

“No matter what, I must get rid of Shannon. It’s only when this woman disappears from this world that Max will truly place his heart entirely on me.” Janice’s gentle eyes slowly lit up with murderous intent.

Hannah felt that the Janice she was seeing now was a stranger to her. They hadn’t met for a few years, but Janice had become so vicious.

Her phone suddenly rang and she immediately answered the call.

“What? New York?” Janice suddenly realized that Shannon had left.

She couldn’t believe that a woman like Shannon would go to New York alone.

No matter how powerful she was in New Jersey, she had to act cautiously in another city.

“Forget it. Let bygones be bygones. She’s already gone. You should just place all your efforts on Max.” Hannah pulled Janice into the house.

In her opinion, it wasn’t a difficult feat to make a man fall in love with you.

Besides, this woman was Janice. She was beautiful, and came from a good family. Her looks alone could rival even the prettiest female celebrity.

In the Wenley Corporation.

“President, there’s something I have to tell you. Miss Zanders donated the money from selling the house to the Education Department for them to build an elementary school.” Jake was reporting to Max about Shannon’s whereabouts after she sold the house.

Max was looking out of the floor-to-ceiling window. When he heard this news, he suddenly frowned.

Building an elementary school? She was really adept at playing a good Samaritan with his money!

“There’s one more thing. Miss Zanders took a night flight and went to New York. She should have gotten off the plane by now.” The next sentence made Max stand up abruptly.

A trace of disbelief appeared in his cold eyes. She actually went to New York alone?!

Back then, he had gotten her a passport because she was accompanying him on a business trip. He didn’t expect this woman to use it to escape!

“Why didn’t you say so earlier?” Max picked up the ashtray and smashed it against the wall.

The fish tank in the office cracked, and water immediately flooded the room.

The goldfish in the fish tank struggled anxiously, but it was Shannon’s face which immediately appeared in Max’s mind.

She had set up the fish tank for him. Back then, she told him cheerfully that she hoped that his office would be more lively, even though she had never been to his office.

“Quick, get someone to clean up!” Jake hurriedly called the janitors in to clean up the mess.

Max sat back in his chair. Did she really leave?

The office was cleaned up in less than twenty minutes. It was as though the fish tank had never existed.

“President, do you need me to get someone to replace the fish tank?” Jake stood in front of his desk and asked.

Other people might not know the origins of this fish tank, but Jake did. He was worried that Max might feel upset if they prepared another fish tank.

“Is there even a need to ask me?” A cold voice echoed in the office.

Jake looked up at Max with a lost expression on his face.

“Go and get it done!” Max’s voice sounded a little angry.

Jake immediately turned and left. In just a short while, his shirt was already drenched in sweat.

He wiped the perspiration off his forehead. Although the President had always been cold, it was rare for him to get angry so easily.

“Wait! Go and check if she took anything from the villa, or left anything behind.” Max stopped Jake at the door.

Jake was stunned. Wasn’t their President acting too strange?

“I’ll go check it now!” Jake hurriedly rushed out to execute Max’s instructions.

Within an hour, the things that Shannon had left in the hotel were sent to Max’s office.

Max looked at the canvas bag on his desk. For some reason, he felt an indescribable pain all over his body.

“Open it,” he ordered his assistant coldly.

The things in her bag were simple. Her toiletries, two sets of clothes, and a notebook.

Also, a snow globe…

Max’s body instantly froze. It was snowing heavily on the night he bought the snow globe.

She stood expectantly outside the boutique. He could still remember the moment he’d stepped out of the car and called after her.

She had looked back at him with a smile, and he had stopped in his tracks. At that moment, he thought that it wasn’t a bad thing that he was in a loveless marriage. He would save himself from a lot of worries if he spent the rest of his life with such a woman.

“President, I’ve already instructed someone to buy that villa for 32 million dollars. The realtor said that Miss Zanders only went to the bedroom to pick up a small item, but aside from that, she didn’t take anything else.” The assistant’s words pulled Max out of his recollection.

She seemed to be very different from what he had imagined.

He thought that she would ask him for a sum of money after losing her baby, but she actually left this place without asking for anything.

“By the way, President, I have something strange to report. Miss Zanders left in the middle of the night. When I checked the surveillance cameras, I noticed that she left dressed in a hotel staff’s uniform, and she seemed to be leaving in a hurry. Just now, the hotel had received a call from an unknown number. When they opened the door to her room, they found a dead puppy inside..”
