47 Too dump to see

"Anna, please, stop" Jason still tried to stop her but Anna kept shifting away from him and all the more getting closer to their parents.

"I'm sorry dad. I'm sorry mom but please, for the sake of my health, punish us in anyway you deem fit but please don't separate us..." She was saying but then she suddenly felt dizzy and her legs wobbled, Jason was behind her in a flash, supporting her with his body.

Veronica sprung to her feet too and Samuel stretched out his hand at the same time but she was already resting on Jason, he softly caressed her face and wiped some strands of her hair from her face, his face showed genuine concern as he dabbed away the sweats on her forehead with his hand.

Watching them act like that, Veronica and Samuel's heart melted and for the first time, they saw what they have never seen there before, love, it has always been there, in their interactions but they have been too dump to see it because they believed that what ever they feel for each other is acceptable because they are siblings, they never knew it was something much more and now, it was right before their eyes. There was nothing different in the way Jason was treating her but only that now, they could see the love in his eyes, something they had turned a blind eye on before.

Anna recovered from her dizziness and smiled softly to Jason to reassure him and he let out a deep sigh of relief to see that she was okay and for the main time, they both forgot that their parents were there. Veronica looked at Samuel and their eyes met, his eyes revealed helplessness while she smiled softly before walking to sit on the arm of the sofa he was sitting on, her hand placed on his shoulder and she gently massage it while still looking at their children.

Anna and Jason suddenly remembering where they were and the situation of things, they both looked up but only to see their parents gazing at them, their initial anger was lost and replaced with the love they are so familiar with.

"I guess you can't cheat nature eh Sam?" Veronica asked softly.

Samuel chuckled lightly "I guess you can't."

"Indeed we swore to not tell anybody unless the need arises, do you think the need has arise?"

Samuel looked thoughtful and signed "I can't see anyone better."

Veronica smiled at their children's confused faces "we never wanted to tell anyone, we told ourself that it will be our biggest secret but" she smiled "nature always take it's course and you can't change it even if you want to."

Jason slowly helped Anna up as they both tried to decipher their parents words but was not so lucky in doing so. Veronica looked at Samuel "will you tell them or should I?"

"You are good with telling such stories."

Veronica chuckled softly and then looked at Jason and Anna "to the world, your love is an abomination and forbidden but to biology? It is very much right and accepted" she saw their confusion and continued in a more gentler tone "Jason, as much as we regret it but Samuel and I are not your biological parents."

Jason froze at that, his mind typically shut down and he couldn't comprehend her words "what?"

"What I'm saying is that, you are adopted."

Now not only Jason but Anna also froze, she looked from Jason to their mother and then their father and back to Jason again. In the blink of an eye, her shock started to fade away, and in it's stead was an overwhelming happiness, Jason is not her brother, not by blood. They are practically two different beings, her happiness knew now bound and it was growing on her face as a blissful smile spread on her lips, but that is to her.

To Jason, he was still in shock, his mind refusing to take in this new news, so the people he has address as his parents in the nearly twenty two years of his life were not actually his parents? He should be happy but why is he sad, why is his heart tearing out in pain "but...but...you have all my pictures, from when I was a day old, how...how...I'm I adopted?"

Samuel sat up in the sofa "you were adopted when you were only two hours old. I was at home when your mother, I mean Veronica came home carrying a baby, she told me she want to adopt him because he had faced the most tragic shock of his life. She told me what happened and I also took compassion on you, I still refused her adopting you, I told her we should search for your relatives but she said you had none or none that she know of. I was still against her wanting to adopt a child just like that but when I saw your face, I was captivated and I knew that I really want you to be my boy. And so like that, the next day, we started working on everything and before the end of the day, you were already ours and we have loved you since then which you can also testify on."

Jason stared from his face to Veronica's "so, you...you are not my biological parents?" He asked and they both nodded. Jason opened his mouth to speak but he can't make up his words, he staggered as he tried to sink in the news, he turned and ran out of the door. Anna tried to follow him but Veronica stopped her.

"Let me go Anna, he needs some time alone. We never wanted tell you this but seeing how much you love each other, we found out that it is inevitable. He will return, hopefully, when he has calmed his emotion. I mean, it's not everyday you learn that you are adopted."

Anna bit her lower lip while still staring at the door, she heaved a sigh and looked at her mother who reached out for her and she ran into her arms, the family of three sat in the living room while hoping that Jason gets over his emotion and return back to them.

Jason sprinted on the lonely streets, his mind filled with memories of his childhood. From the moment he opened his eyes when he was a baby, he can only remember two faces, Veronica and Samuel, he can't seem to recall seeing any other face other than theirs. The love they had showered him, he can remember when he took his first step and fell, who helped him up? Samuel. When he hurt his knees, who blew it and kissed his head telling him sorry? Veronica. Who taught him how to play football? Samuel. Who taught him how to read? Veronica. Who fed him when he was busy playing? Samuel. Who stay up all night by his bedside whenever he was sick? Veronica.

All his life he had grown to know them as his parents and he loved them dearly and now, now they are telling him he is not their son, he doesn't share their blood? Why, why would fate be so cruel? Why is he not their son, the flesh and blood of such a loving couple? He wiped his tears away as he ran on the lonely street.

Now, they are telling him that some stranger is his mother? And a man he doesn't know is his father? Where are they even? Why did they abandon him all these years? Are they going to come claim him now that he knows of their existence? Are they going to take him away from his loving parents? He wants to be a Macaulay. For God sake his name is Jason Junior Samuel Macaulay. He is not going to be a junior to some strange man. Samuel is his father and Veronica is his mother, and most of all, Anna is his sister.

Anna, he remembered, hold the phone, he stopped running as his mind channeled to another side of thoughts, if he is adopted, then that means, Anna is not his sister and if Anna is not his sister, then their love is not forbidden! He won't need to worry about what people will say when they find out about their relationship. He doesn't need to hide to kiss her, he doesn't need to hide to hold her hands on the streets, and most importantly, he doesn't need to worry about what the world will say when they find out about her pregnancy.

Pregnancy, he thought again, that's right, Anna is pregnant for him, she is carrying his child. If he is adopted, then he can proudly tell the world that he is the father without worrying of what they will say or their criticism. Wait, why is he not thinking of the bright side? If he is adopted, if he doesn't share the blood of the Macaulay's, then that means he can be with Anna and not just be with her, he can marry her!

He panted heavily as his mind ran far and wild, that's right, he is adopted, he can be with his beloved now in the public, their love is no longer forbidden and just like his mother said, it is very much accepted. No one will criticise him, no one will insult his family, they just need to tell the world that he is adopted. Jason jumped up and threw his fists in the air, that's right, why didn't he think of this at first, it's true it hurts that he is not a Macaulay by blood but he can be with his beloved, he can make his dream of walking down the aisle with her a possibility.

"Haha" he laughed as he jumped around in happiness, this is what he should be thinking about now, his Anna and their arriving baby, he turned immediately and started running back from the way he came. Minutes later, he stopped in front of the house he has always seen as his home, and then a tinge of sorrow hit him again, but he is not going to let his sorrow overshadow his happiness. He walked to the porch and a thought hit him, now that they have told him that he is not their son, will they still want him?
