Chapter 50 - Ignored

Hearing the three of them treat him like air and insult him without caring for his presence, Licht felt a throbbing vein appear on his forehead as his left eye started to twitch.

*Stretches*

"So you still gonna fight that feminine looking dude?" Grim asked.

"Huh? Of course!" Yami nodded. "I said that I was gonna show them what a magic knight captain was capable of so I need to finish this."

"Ha. Very well." Grim smiled and turned to Asta.

"Have you got a grasp on Ki yet?"

"I think so."

"Hmm... Can you do me a favor and take care of that creepy hype man?"

"Huh? Sure, but what are you gonna do while I'm doing that?"

"Me? I'm gonna see what a magic knight captain can truly do."

*BOOM!!*

Releasing his mana, Yami reinforced his body with reinforcement magic and shot towards Licht.

'And so it starts.'

'So this is what Yami is like when he's serious.' Grim thought while watching in wonder.

"That story you were telling me a while ago wasn't everything right? Tell me how it ends."

"Tell me what you guys are really after."

"Since you posses that type of grimoire it means you're from the Clover kingdom right? Then why attack your home?"

"Heh." Licht smiled when he heard him.

Dodging another attacked, he opened his mouth and answered.

"Since you're a foreigner, I'm sure you've noticed just how warped this kingdom really is."

"What?"

"You've seen it haven't you?" Licht continued. "How there are people dying in the streets from starvation yet there are people living not to far away who struggle to even finish all the food that has been presented to them. Don't you think that's unfair?"

*BANG!!*

"They say that mana amount is used to decided your status in life, but in reality they'll judge you on your background and use that as an excuse to hold you back."

*BANG!!*

"As an immigrant, you should know better than anyone how they'll use the fact that you were born in another country to hurt you and say that they are doing it for justice."

"What are you talking about?" Yami frowned releasing another slash.

Evading the attack like it was nothing, Licht's revealed a benevolent smile.

"We, the members of the Eye of the Midnight Sun have risen up from the dregs of this warped and have come out of the shadows in order to correct this corrupt world."

'Is it?'

"Collecting rogue mages, attacking the capital, having a four leaf grimoire, all that power has gone to your head."

*BANG!!*

"Gone to my head?" Dodging another slash that blew out a large chunk out of the cave, Licht laughed lightly. "I'll have you know I'm perfectly fine thank you. All I'm doing is fighting fire with fire."

"Haha. So you're one of those people who think they're always right huh. Can't say I hate people like that. However, I really can't stand you!!"

*BOOM!!*

'Whoa... Even with ki and the Transparent World active, I'm still struggling to see everything that's going on... Is this really the power of a captain?" Watching the cave's infrastructure crumble from their battle, Grim doesn't even notice that his smile was starting to widen.

'That Power, That Strength, I Want it, I WANT IT!!'

Looks like Asta's gotten better at sensing ki.

Watching him defend and deflect the multiple mana orbs flying at him through the portals, Grim couldn't help but nod. Despite his thirst for power, Grim couldn't deny that he liked that Asta was getting stronger. Unlike him, Asta was someone who was truly unlucky and he could respect his work ethic.

"Die!" Licht yelled throwing a light shard at Yami.

"Not today." Smiling, Yami created a black hole that suċkėd in Licht's attack and trapped him in place.

'What the hell?' A look of surprise appeared on Licht's face as Yami lifted his blade above his head.

"HYAH!!" Slashing his sword down, Yami's blade was covered in dark magic and stretched itself making its range longer.

During the time Yami had activated his spell, Asta had jumped through Valtos's portal and decked him in the face.

Coughing up a mouthful of blood and breathing really heavy, Licht found himself chuckling.

"Amazing, to think that there would actually be a type of magic that could actually absorb mine, haha, I was actually so surprised that I forgot to move. That being said, dark magic is ridiculously slow, I guess that's to be expected with it being the opposite of light."

"You really like listening to the sound of your own voice don't you?" Yami asked lighting a new cigarette. "Now hurry up and use that healing magic of yours, and while you do that I'll take the opportunity to mess you up real good."

"Master Licht..." Sally muttered seeing him sweating.

"I have to admit Yami Sukehiro... you're the second person that has the power capable of defeating me."

"Second?"

"But enough is enough." Licht continued ignoring Yami. "For you, I'll use the strongest spell I have."

'Strongest spell?' Grim frowned as he felt Licht's mana rise.

"Due to this being my strongest spell, its only natural that its also my fastest, and unlike my whip, the area of effect on this one is ridiculous, so good luck surviving."

"Well shit." Grim said as Yami and Asta jumped to his side.

"The second I unleash it, it will be the end of you captain of the Black Bulls."

"Like hell it will!" Asta yelled. "There's no way our captain would lose to that kind of spell!"

"Um Asta." Grim interrupted. "I know you can't sense mana and all that, but if you could, you'd realize just how bad this situation is."

"What! Even you think its bad."

"Yeah." Grim nodded before turning his attention to Yami. "Any ideas?"

"Nope."

[Dark Magic: Black Cocoon]

Manifesting a spherical shell of darkness around the three of them Yami hoped that it'd be enough.

"This isn't gonna work." Grim commented.

"Got any better ideas?"

"Nope." He shook his head.

Surrounding himself with rotating gray blades manifested from him mana, Grim stood behind Yami.

"What are you doing?"

"Hoping that when that attack breaks through this shell, the magic surrounding my body will slice that pasty dude's magic and protect me."

"That won't work." Yami shook his head. "For one, there are too many gaps in your spell and that light attack is probably fast enough to pass through. And two, if I die here I'm making sure to bring you with me."

"What? Why do I have to die just because you weren't strong enough to survive!"

"Don't argue with me, just die when I die."

"Again and again and AGAIN!!" Licht snapped at them. "How is it possible that you two are still ignoring me despite me being seconds away from killing you!"

"Meh, that's a problem for the me 10 seconds from now to deal with." Yami shrugged acting like it was no big deal.

"Yeah." Grim nodded. "That and there's also the fact that you're not very intimidating. I mean you you're even wearing makeup for gods sake. If I'm being totally honest, I've been holding back the urge to call you a fag for quite a while now."

"Wow, you really don't mince words do ya?" Yami smiled.

"Its not really my style. Besides, haven't you ever hear the phrase honesty is the best policy?"

"That sounds like something they'd say at the church." Asta added.

Hearing them start another conversation, Licht realized that they had completely forgotten him again.

"A...ha...ha...hahahahahahahahahahahahaha." He suddenly burst into a fit of strange laughter.

"What's wrong with him?" Grim asked hearing the laughter.

*Sigh* "Why is it always the deranged ones that are the strongest." Yami sighed taking a puff out of his cigarette.

"Weird thing to say from the strongest person in our squad." Grim coughed.

"I get it now." Licht finally spoke while being bathed in light. "The three of you... You truly don't deserve to live in this world any longer."

"Oi Yami." Grim called. "He's talking to himself again."

Hearing this, Licht's eye twitched violently.

'Y'know what! Screw talking to them! I'll kill them now!!'

"DIEEE!!!"

[Light Magic: Divine Judgement Cannon]

Releasing a beam of concentrated light magic that was too fast and wide to dodge, Grim, Asta and Yami watched as Yami darkness sphere covered them blocking out all light.

'If this flamboyant looking guy really kills me I'll ask the next God that reincarnates me to wipe away this life's memories.'

As if hearing Grim's prayer, Gauche appeared in front of the orb of darkness with a huge mirror.

"Eh?" Yami said feeling his ki outside the orb.

Bouncing off the mirror, Licht watched with widened eyes as his spell came flying back at him.

'Oh shit.'
