Chapter 49 - Genius

"Um Yami, what's going on with Grim? Its like his whole presence has changed."

Ignoring Asta's question, Yami's sight was completely focused on Grim's figure. Unlike the normal Grim, the current version of him standing in front of them gave off a sense of peace and tranquility. Something that would not normally be ȧssociated with someone like the foul mouthed Grim.

Even Yami was surprised seeing Grim like this, even his ki had somehow managed to calm down.

"That son of a bitch really surpassed his limits."

The Transparent World.

According to the few memories Grim had from his life on earth, he could remember that the transparent world was the ability in which could only manifest itself in a select few. From his memories alone he remembered that only 2 living Demon Slayers were capable of manifesting this power and even then, one of those two were the protagonist.

According to his memories, the Transparent World was an ability that allowed the user to see the muscles, blood flow and joint movements of their opponents. This allows the user to accurately predict and anticipate the movements and attacks of their opponents while also enhancing the user's breath style and movement speed.

But knowing about the ability and actually using it were two different things. Unlike in the Demon Slayer manga, Grim manifested this ability through the use of his Ki making his senses extra sėnsɨtɨvė to his surroundings. Mixed with his ability to sense mana and his animal-like instincts gained through [Breath of the Beast], Grim felt like he could perceive everything.

*TING!*

Waving his arms slightly, Grim blocked another barrage of attacks from Valtos.

"What the hell!" Valtos frowned.

"Cool!!" Asta's eyes shone again. "Its like he moved his sword to the exact location the attacks were gonna appear from!"

"I can see it." Grim finally spoke while blocking another attack without looking. "I can see just how weak you are." He smiled.

"What!!" Valtos face warped into one of shock before changing into one of rage.

"In front of master Licht... HOW DARE YOU HUMILIATE ME IN FRONT OF HIM!!" He screamed before summoning a large number of small portals around Grim.

Smiling, Grim switched to [Breath of Mist]

"I can also see how you're about to get clapped."

[Breath of Mist - 2nd Form: Eight Layered Mist]

With his breath styles enhanced by the Transparent World, a single slash of his sword caused 8 mist slashes to shoot out and target the soon to appear attacks.

"I-Impossible..." Valtos fell to his knees as he realized that he had humiliated himself in front of Licht.

Watching Grim defend against his attacks after declaring that he would wipe the boy out left Valtos feeling both embarrassed and enraged.

Turning his attention onto Asta as his grimoire, a look of determination appeared in his eyes as he created another ball of mana and prepared to open up another portal.

*BANG!!*

"Eh?" Feeling a powerful gust of wind blow past his face, Valtos turned to look behind him and saw one of Grim's Beast swords embedded into the wall.

"Hey Asta." Grim's voice rung out. "This guy's about to attack you, get ready."

"Huh?" Asta looked around confused.

"Ahahahahahaha." Yami burst out laughing. "You're already capable of sensing that huh. Man, I'm such a good teacher."

"I thought you said that I was doing it before you gave me advice."

"...Don't get ċȯċky you little shit. If I said its because of me then its obviously because of me."

"Fuck you! Don't try and take my achievements for yourself!"

While the two begun to argue, Licht looked at them with visible confusion.

"Oi Asta!" Yami screamed. "Go learn ki while I discipline this bastard!"

"Okay?"

"Hahahahahaha." Licht started laughing joyfully. "You clover kingdom people truly are funny." He smiled before turning serious. "To actually stop fighting and argue in front of me, you truly are trash."

Releasing his magic power, he tried to pressure them. But now that Grim had grasped ki and had gained the Transparent World ability, he wasn't about to let this shit fly.

[A/n: Lol.]

"Are you really trying to flex right now? Y'know what? Fuck ghost face! I'm bout to clap you right here and right now!"

[A/n: I know Grim probably shouldn't be acting ċȯċky after just getting a new ability, but did anyone really think he wouldn't act like this now that he can actually fight back?]

Releasing his own mana in opposition to Licht's, Grim pushed back on his attempt to pressure them.

"Come over here and find out." Grim smiled mixing his bloodthirst in with his mana.

"Oi shrimp." Yami turned to Asta. "We'll make sure that this guy doesn't interfere, now go learn ki."

"Yes sir!" He saluted and ran forwards.

'...Wait a second, we've been talking aloud this entire time, surely that ghost faced idiot wouldn't attack now that he knows what we're tryi-

"FOR LORD LICHT!!"

-After learning ki and hitting Valtos's mana orb back at him through the portal-

"I did it?... I DID IT!! GRIM! YAMI! DID YOU SEE THAT! I DID IT!!"

"Eh?"

"Now that I think about it, its actually kinda creepy that you can."

"B-But you told me to do it!!"

"Yeah, but I expected you to fail. After you did, I was gonna show up and show you how its done then wait for you to praise me. *Sigh* You made all my hard work go to waste. You're gonna have to compensate me when we get back."

"For what!"

"Ruining my plans."

Ignoring their conversation, Licht looked at Valtos laying flat on his back and was overcome with anger.

"First you mock me with your life story, then you attack my people and now you still have the gall to ignore me once again and converse amongst yourselves." Licht's voice was filled with anger and hatred. "How much longer will you try to humiliate me!"

"What?! You're the one who attacked us first!" Asta argued.

"SILENCE!!"

"Urgh." Releasing a bright light from his body, Asta, Grim and Yami were forced to cover their eyes for a minute.

[Light Creation Magic: Bright Judgement Whip]

Standing there with a rope made of light floating around his body, Licht looked at the 3 of them with disgust and amusement.

"This spell moves around like a whip, I wonder if you'll be able to predict its movements? But even if you can't that won't matter, and because whips are used to carry out punishment, it suits the three of you quite well!"

*Sigh* "Time to go clap a muthafucka."

'Okay, in hindsight I probably shouldn't enrage someone capable of collapsing a cave on me.'

"Oh shit! He's lost his damn mind!!"

Swinging his whip made of light around wildly, Yami and Grim were able to defend against the attacks aimed at them, but were unfortunate in the fact that the whip was also hitting the ceiling and causing the cave to collapse.

"Fufufu." Licht laughed lightly with his hand covering his mouth. "To think that even though I held back by so much, they would still fall. I guess they were to weak, them and this world."

"A-AMAZING!!" Valtos stood up and started clapping.

[A/n: Just realized that Valtos is Patri's hype man...]

"That power is like that of the GODS!!"

"In front of you even a magic knight captain is-

Yami, Grim and Asta burst out from under the rocks.

"T-They're alive!" Valtos looked in shock.

"See that?" Yami focused his attention on Asta. "If you concentrate like I just did, you can even feel the ki of nature as well! Now you won't die even when your opponent uses a cheap shot like burying you in a rock slide."

"Really?! Ki rocks!!"

"I know right!" Grim added. "If I didn't have ki I'd have to put a little bit more effort in surviving a bitch move like that."
