Chapter 368 Guardian Angel

Zeke was not a man of many words but his aura made him seem kind, and his smile gave him a sort of trustworthiness about him but after Lu AnLing had almost had her heart ripped out, the only person she had wanted to see at the moment was Kang Jun, but she knew he was not going to show up out of nowhere.

Looking at Zeke,Lu AnLing's face, which had already been twisted stayed the same, but somehow, her aura calmed slightly.

Seeing the panic on the girls face, Zeke approached her slowly and then he gently put his hand on her back and bent down beside her, his knees cracking slightly as he did.

"Are you alright?" Zeke said with worry in his voice, but it was not only his voice but his facial expression had also changed slightly and his whole mannerism bore the same feel.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing was about to answer him but just as she was about to speak, her throat contracted. She couldn't quite say she was fine. After feeling like she had almost lost Kang Mingyu she felt the loss of her child for the second time but for some reason, this time is was more alarming, more painful, than she had ever imagined.

It was the moment when pure happiness turned into hell and hell consumed all.

Suddenly, Lu AnLing felt the sudden urge to vomit but she tried her best to keep it down.

Her face pale both Zeke and Kang Mingyu came closer to Lu AnLing with their eyes big and their hearts beating.

"Do you need to go to the hospital?" Zeke asked.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing froze for a moment and then she shook her head. "I'll be fine..."

Zeke did not believe this, so he stayed with her for a small while. And then, when Lu AnLing was ready, he helped lift her up.

"Even If you aren't going to the hospital, do you want me to give you a ride to your location?" Zeke asked politely.

Hearing this, Lu AnLing shook her head.

"I'm fine Zeke, thank you for your help though." Lu AnLing said. The girl was about to look down at Kang Mingyu and tell him that they should go wait for Rong Xin outside but she was interrupted by Zeke's voice.

"I'd do anything for my beneficiary," Zeke said half jokingly, half seriously.

With that said, Lu AnLing stunted any action to leave and then she spoke.

"Why did you decide to sponsor me? Why do you even care about me?" Lu AnLing said. She was a bit delirious due to her shock from a moment ago, but the words she spoke came from her heart.

Hearing this, Zeke shrugged.

"I guess I did it because I needed to atone.Due to some decision I had made in the past, I hurt someone very badly. And that someone, who was already hurt, hurt someone else for my sake. And because of that, I needed to do some good deeds to atone." Zeke said simply as a faraway look spread through his dark eyes and then, he smiled bitterly before he looked towards Lu AnLing, "Though, be that as it may, I do more than sponsor those at the institute. I do some charity work, pay for college tuition for underprivileged kids, etc. You know, good things."

Hearing this, Lu AnLing laughed slightly. "Okay, now you're just boasting!"

Zeke laughed himself. "Am I? I hadn't noticed."

Lu AnLing couldn't help but laugh a bit more, but then she stopped and she said, "Have you finished atoning then?"

Looking away, Zeke said, "The thing about atonement is, you need the all people who you've hurt, not just the one who you've hurt the most, to forgive you but... sometimes you're just afraid of bringing up all your sins."

Lu AnLing nodded to his statement. She wanted to tell him everything would be alright or that he would succeed in atoning but she wasn't sure of that and she didn't want to tell lies and so, there was nothing more she could say to him.

"Well... I wish you good luck."Lu AnLing said simply.

"Thank you. Also, if you need anything from me, feel free to call. You should still have my number." Zeke said with a smirk. "Until next time, Miss Lu."

With that said, Zeke walked away into the distance.

Looking at the man as he walked away, Kang Mingyu was completely mesmerized. The man, from appearances, looked handsome but due to the scar, a bit scary, but his demeanour only showed kindness and gentleness.

"Mommy, who was that?" Kang Mingyu asked.

"He was someone who helped me when I was at my most vulnerable, and helped me survive... so I guess you could see he was like my guardian angel." Lu AnLing said simply as her hand touched her lip curiously.

Hearing this, Kang Mingyu's eyes lit up.

"...angel..." the boy whispered as he turned to look at Lu AnLing.

Like that man, the boy wanted to be her angel.

***

After Kang Jun had finished the majority of the work that had to be done, the man did not waste time to go home to the Kang Manor. He wanted to hurry up and tell Elder Kang the truth.

The reason for his haste was that Kang Jun had realized a simple fact; the longer he put it off, the harder it became to bring it up and Kang Jun knew that he didn't have the possibility of not bringing it up.

Once at home, Kang Jun was about to make his way to his grandfathers room, but to his shock, Elder Kang was alone in the kitchen drinking tea.

It was a bit sad to see the old man so alone... Usually, Lu AnLing would have asked the old man to go along with them to the Tang Mansion but considering the talk that had to happen, Lu AnLing had no choice but to leave him out and this had caused the old man to be alone.

Kang Jun didn't know for how long the old man had been there, but he felt extremely bad for a moment.

"Grandfather," Kang Jun said somewhat awkwardly.

Hearing his grandsons voice, Elder Kang turned to him and as soon as he laid eyes on Kang Jun, his whole expression brightened.

"Ah Jun, I'm glad you're home! I thought you had gone to the Tang's also..."

Kang Jun shook his head. "Too much work."

Hearing this, Elder Kang shook his head. The old man tried his best to find interesting topics of conversations, but Kang Jun wasn't here to have small talk.

"Grandfather, there's something I need to tell you." Kang Jun said simply, yet politely. "And you might hate me for it."

For a moment, Elder Kang's eyes widened.

Elder Kang felt his throat dry. He wasn't sure why, but Kang Jun's demeanour was abnormal compared to his usual and this was more nerve wracking that when the man was mad.

Elder Kang: "Jun... you're my grandson, how could I ever hate you?"

As soon as the man said this, the room froze completely, but Kang Jun didn't stop or falter.Like a swift swing of an executioners axe, Kang Jun said,

"That's what I wanted to tell you. I'm not your grandson."
