Chapter 199 Feeling Of Dread

Mo Yichen massaged his throbbing temple. He felt like he was babysitting. Looking at the two exchanging verbal blow for verbal blow, he sighed, "Aren't we suppose to talk about work, not... whatever this is?"

The only reason Kang Jun and Mo Yichen had allowed Tang Bingyi some time alone with Lu AnLing was because she said she wanted to do a personal interview to see if the girl was right for the job, but neither he nor Kang Jun had assumed this turn of events.

Hearing his questions, both Kang Jun and Tang Bingyi turned to him, though Tang Bingyi was the only one who spoke, "We can do both."

Hearing this, Mo Yichen was speechless and Kang Jun just stood quietly.

From the sidelines, Lu AnLing looked at Tang Bingyi with confusion but also slight awe.

The girl didn't change much no matter if she was talking to a person old enough to be her father or someone as seemingly uncaring and dangerous as Kang Jun. she had no fear and held herself as their equal.

Suddenly Mo Yichen spoke. "Fine then. But no, Miss Lu cannot be given to you."

Tang Bingyi: "How can you make that decision? Are you her father?"

Mo Yichen didn't react badly to her words. "No. But she works under my company."

Tang Bingyi crossed her arms over her chest and said, "A freelancer doesn't have a boss and I'm pretty sure that Halo Stars Entertainment doesn't have a department which concentrates on language and translation."

Hearing this, Mo Yichen laughed. "Yes, while that is true, other than being a freelancer she is an artist under Halo Stars."

Tang Bingyi was shocked about this turn of events and then gazed at Lu AnLing with a lot more questions in her eyes. She was then going to argue but before she could Kang Jun said, "Even if she wasn't, I still refuse. You can't just take her away."

Hearing Kang Jun reply, Tang Bingyi felt herself smile. "Who are you to chose that?"

It was obvious that whatever rumour about Kang Jun existed, Tang Bingyi had no fear whatsoever.

Kang Jun was so used to dealing with people that would crumble under his gaze, so dealing with Tang Bingyi was a bit complicated. He had to exert much more effort.

Thinking about this, Kang Jun frowned. "I recommended her for the job."

Tang Bingyi: "If I'm not mistaken, President Mo was the one who recommended Miss Lu, right President Kang?"

Kang Jun's aura became darker, Lu AnLing and Mo Yichen both felt this, though Tang Bingyi didn't seem affected at all.

"Regardless, the fact is that I found her." Kang Jun's voice contained no semblance of a lie, so Tang Bingyi continued in another direction.

She relaxed in her chair and looked up at the man who towered above her calmly.

"Well I don't only want her for what she could possibly do for Tang Corporations, I also want her to be my friend." Tang Bingyi said.

With that said, Lu AnLing wasn't sure who were adults and who were children. They all spoke on equal terms and this would have been a good thing if they weren't arguing about her. Lu AnLing didn't want to work for Tang Corporation. This was not because she was an artist at Halo Stars Entertainment or that her husband was the President of Kang Corporation but, she didn't want to be swamped with too much work. She no longer needed to work like a dog for money. Right now, all she wanted to do was spend time with those she loved and make her childhood dream come true.

Watching the situation, she couldn't understand how any of this had come about but she knew she had to stop it before it went out of hand.

Meanwhile, Kang Jun frowned.

"You should have phrased your sentence properly..." Kang Jun started as he looked down to Lu AnLing at his side.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing folded her arms over her chest and looked at Tang Bingyi the way she was used to looking at Lu Xia and said,

"If that's truly what you want, then I think, you should obviously ask the person involved, herself."

Tang Bingyi was not used to people talking to her like this with the exception of her mother, but even her mother didn't use as much presence as Lu AnLing did.

Hearing the way Lu AnLing spoke to her, Tang Bingyi felt like she was being scolded despite Lu AnLing's face remaining friendly and warm. This made a conflicting feeling appear in Tang Bingyi's core.

Scratching her head, Tang Bingyi frowned slightly.

Seeing this, Lu AnLing looked at the girl who had receded slightly.

For a split second, Lu AnLing saw the glint of loneliness pass through the girl's eyes. For a moment, she saw the truth...

When it came to interpersonal relationships, Tang Bingyi was not that good.

Well... that would be an understatement. She was terrible. In her whole 24 years of life, she had never had a true friend.

Looking at Lu AnLing semi awkwardly, Tang Bingyi seemed frozen. This prompted Lu AnLing to speak once more.

"Look, do you want to be friends? If you want to, we can be, but I would appreciate it if you asked me, rather than do..." Lu AnLing tried to find the words to say, she could only restate what Mo Yichen had said in the beginning. "Whatever this is..."

Hearing this, Tang Bingyi looked up to meet Lu AnLing's unwavering gaze and the two shook hands as if a deal had been made.

Lu AnLing thought that this was a bit awkward but nothing could be done. Tang Bingyi only knew business relations, learning how to be friends would take a bit of time.

Lu AnLing wasn't sure how much time it would take but, to Lu AnLing, Tang Bingyi wasn't a bad person, so Lu AnLing didn't think too much about it. Instead, another thought brought itself to the forefront of Lu AnLing's mind...

Tang Bingyi was her first female friend since Anna.

Thinking of Anna a feeling of dread came upon the girl as she looked into Tang Bingyi's clear eyes.

Things had been going very well for Lu AnLing lately, and so, she hoped no storm would come to destroy the happiness that was being built.

Though as this thought drifted in her mind, Lu AnLing felt the sudden touch of Kang Jun's hand on her back. Neither Mo Yichen nor Tang Bingyi had noticed it, but Kang Jun saw her fear.

Feeling his touch, Lu AnLing's whole body felt recharged.

No matter what was to happen, she needed to be strong and with Kang Jun by her side, she knew she could do that.
