5 Chapter 5: A curse of hatred

Jin ignored Fugaku's taunt.

Being completely honest with himself, Jin was nervous. This would potentially dictate what kind of jutsu he would learn in the future, so he composed himself and let his chakra flow through the paper.

This time, under everyone's watchful gaze, the paper changed in a bizarre way. It became pitch black, and the ominous face of an Oni appeared on the surface of it. At this point, Jin and the rest were stupefied, as they had never seen such a change occur on the paper before. Only Goro seemed to understand what was going on, as he activated his Sharingan.

The paper didn't stop there, as the Oni's face wrinkled up before igniting, turning into ash. Goro looked at Jin silently, with a heavy expression on his face.

"Jin, first of all, congratulations on having three chakra nature affinities, you are a peerless genius in that aspect."

Hideki had a look of reverence on his face, while Fugaku was full of incredulity and disappointment.

"All of you have seen the face that appeared on the paper right? well, that was genjutsu."

Goro took a deep breath.

"Jin has a strong affinity for Yin release (Inton陰遁), a chakra nature that lies outside of the elemental spectrum."

While they all stared at him in shock, Goro continued:

"Yin release gathers the spiritual energy of the world, creating form out of nothing. Techniques such as genjutsu, and the Nara clan's shadow manipulation; all rely heavily on the power of Yin, having their spiritual nature increased over the physical."

"Would this mean that Jin is highly suited to his future Sharingan genjutsu abilities?"

Hanami couldn't help but ask.

"Indeed, not only that, but if he learns how to use his chakra nature properly, and applies it to his future jutsu in the form of a nature transformation, his techniques would reach a whole new level of power, distorting reality and creating things that shouldn't exist."

Fugaku and Hideki were lost at this point, but Jin and his mother were exhilarated, both understanding the potential he possessed as a ninja. Jin was already thinking about jutsu such as Madara's Yin lightning, which merged natural energy with yin release, although he couldn't use nature energy, he could just use normal chakra. The possibilities were endless.

Goro controlled his excitement and continued speaking in a serious tone.

"Your dominant nature and the one you are most compatible with is Yin release, but you also showed an affinity for lighting and fire. Your mother has a lightning affinity, and your father, being an Uchiha has fire affinity, meaning you inherited both of them. Congratulations Jin, your father and I will personally oversee your training before and after you enroll in the academy, as you are now the hope of our clan."

"Yes, uncle!"

He couldn't wait for his Sharingan to manifest. That day would be when he would dominate all of his peers without even having to lift a finger. This excited Jin so much that he was shaking.

"Jin, since you inherited my lightning affinity, I will teach you my personal jutsu when you learn how to efficiently use your chakra. This jutsu is the one that allowed me to become part the Raikage's personal guard."

When he heard his mother's words, Jin didn't know how to respond. Today was a great day; nothing could ruin his mood at this point.

It was then, that an ANBU appeared next to Goro, and whispered in his ear, before disappearing. all in the blink of an eye. As Goro listened to his words, his expression turned from grave to ghastly. was left silent for a good while, as he looked at the floor beneath his feet.

The others were curious about what was going on but kept their mouths shut out of respect. They had never seen Goro with such an expression before.

"Hanami, Jin. I am very sorry to tell you this and believe me, it hurts me just as much as it hurts you..."

Jin and Hanami had no idea what he was talking about, but judging from his tone of voice it most likely wasn't very good.

Taking the deepest breath he had ever taken, Goro spoke hoarsely.

"Inari was found dead after a one on one battle against the Raikage while on a mission at the border. They never expected for such a figure to make an appearance, and Inari being the man that he is, Knowing his team's lives were at risk, he sacrificed himself and fought the Raikage to a stalemate, only to be killed at the last second due chakra exhaustion."

Jin and Hanami looked like their souls were torn away from their bodies, and just stood there, silently, While Hideki and Ayaka hugged them both respectively, in an attempt to comfort them. Even so, they didn't move a muscle.

"The funeral will be tomorrow, and the whole clan will be in attendance. I will see you then, take it easy and rest, I am sure Inari would not want you to grieve for too long."

Goro wasn't a very emotional man, but the loss of his brother was the hardest blow he had ever taken since their parents died. He gestured for everyone to leave Jin and Hanami alone, while he made his way to a rooftop. Tears streaking down his cheeks as his pupils started spinning, and a pair of Mangekyō-Sharingan manifested in his eyes.

The night passed silently.

Jin and Hanami went back to their home without speaking a word, a lifeless look in their eyes. They did not know how to react, as the loss of Inari came too abruptly and without any warning.

As they sat on their couch, they looked at each other, and tears overflowed from their eyes. All the emotions started coming out as they cried so hard it could be heard in the whole Uchiha clan. As they hugged each other, All of the clansmen that had received the news wore downcast expressions on their faces and had no energy to continue what they were doing.

They all thought of Inari, Their clan's strongest ninja since Kagami's death and they reminisced. He had awoken his Sharingan at the tender age of six and had become part of the ANBU at twelve years of age, becoming the youngest ever to accomplish such a feat.

He was part of an ANBU team led by Kagami Uchiha and had awakened his own Mangekyō when the former died on the battlefield in an act of desperation to save his teammates from the attack of a tailed beast on the front-lines, although that was a secret only known to the higher-ups of the Uchiha and the Hokage.

Inari had become one of Konoha's strongest ninjas, and died a death worthy of an Uchiha, saving his comrades, just like Kagami. All of the clansmen felt respect and reverence in their hearts as the pride in their blood manifested like never before. Some women and most children cried, as they all had met the legendary Inari, who was nice to everybody and respected all of them.

As the sun set in the west, being replaced by a rare full moon, Inari and Hanami fell asleep in each other's arms due to exhaustion from all their grieving.

During the funeral on the next day which took place at Naka shrine, Goro gave a speech about the valiant acts of his brother along with an ovation from the Hokage himself. Jin sat on the front row, holding his mother's hand with a look of determination on his face as his blue eyes spun and became tinged with the red color of blood, awakening his very own pair Sharingan.

He swore to avenge his father by killing the Raikage and bringing even more honor to his father's name. It now became his sole goal in life, as he had lost the only father he ever had.

Goro saw this from a distance and looked up to the sky as he murmured with a small smile on his face.

"Your son will definitely become a great ninja, Inari... No doubt about it."
