Chapter 138: An invasion!

"Attacking? Impossible" Lucien said with a frown on his face since he found this completely unexpected!

Or rather, Impossible!

Just tonight they had their students lay ambush for members of the Fotia academy, leaving them empire.  He got dispatched to put an end to the entire operation and he ended up killing at least a hundred students! All in one night!

He knew the information would reach the Libet empire just as quickly as it reached the Fotia empire but he didn't expect them to mobilize an army in the space of an hour! No, it is impossible!

"Give me details!" Lucien demanded coldly, making the old man shiver.

"The Instructor and the students who came with him were attacked near our borders! A few students were killed and many were injured, the instructor is in the castle now… he should know more!" The old man said timidly and Lucien nodded in understanding.

Whoosh!

With a step forward and a light leap, Lucien turned into a gray gas with a piece of silver clothe seen within it! The gas surged forward, filling the stairs, the passageway until it reached a room where the injured instructor Hai was receiving treatment!

It was a grand hall of the castle, where Instructor Hai and other students of the war mage class were getting treated by healing mages sent by the academy. From the looks of it, these people may have been here before he got back since he didn't sense them or maybe he spent more time than expected when cultivating his new martial technique.

Those in the room were shocked when the gray mist surged into the room violently, shooting towards instructor Hai at top speed. The instructor was badly hurt and the other students were too weak to keep up with the gray mist so they could only watch as it sped towards their instructor!

Thud!

Upon reaching, Lucien's figure began to show as he lightly stepped on the ground with his toes. Only a small portion of his body has been formed and as the gas gathered his body kept forming slowly.

"What happened?" Lucien's voice was more ethereal, giving those who heard him speak a weird feeling. 

The entire room was silent and it took them some time to recover since they have never seen something like this before. It is general knowledge that only when a person reaches the spirit realm, will he be able to create a martial technique of his own. And only after creating or picking a martial technique will one's body adjust to suit the martial technique they choose to cultivate. Seeing the new Lucien made it obvious he had created his martial technique and even though it should be impossible for someone at his cultivation realm, they weren't bothered about that. What kept them confused for a while is that Lucien's new condition has never been recorded in the history of the continent before. No man has ever cultivated the technique Lucien is cultivating now.

"It is a technique formed only after fusing my body and soul techniques into one… I stumbled upon it by chance so don't think too deeply about it" Lucien said casually without a hint of emotion in his pitch-black eyes. He roughly guessed the reason for their actions and since there is nothing to hide, he let it all out without restraint.

"Now, tell me what happened" Lucien's voice was like ripples, reaching every part of the room without any issue.

"We were out there hunting magic beasts and slowly we left your domain and ventured deeper… soon we were ambushed by a small human army from the Libet empire, led by spirit realm experts! While we escaped one of them said something 'Inform Lucien Rakuzen that his precious territory will be conquered before dawn!' That's all I know" Instructor Hai said while gazing at Lucien hoping to get an explanation but none came.

Lucien was lost in thought as he considered the possibility of something like this happening. Instructor Hai may not have known what transpired between the two empires because he was away all the time, hunting magic beasts with the students, so it is only natural, he doesn't understand why this happened. As for the countless possibilities in Lucien's head, he filtered most of them out and finally landed at the best conclusion he could come up with.

The entire Libet empire may be powerful but it would still need some time to mobilize an army! To do this, a noble must be involved. Only a noble can mobilize such a small force on such short notice. Lucien concluded that the only reason why they must have done something like this is probably that he must have killed someone from a reputable family during his midnight hunt. Unable to bear the loss, they gathered their forces and sent them out without the empire's approval! 

That explains why they just want to destroy his domain alone and not the entire empire!

"Conquer my territory? I would love to see you try!" Lucien sneered viciously.

He turned to the instructor after shooting the other students a glance and said.

"I will deal with this personally… You don't have to involve the empire!"

Hearing this everyone in the room was stunned. They expected Lucien to be worried yet he looked more pissed off than usual and even claimed he would deal with the problem alone. Everyone knew the situation of his domain! He is the only expert there and without the king tier magic beast who is focusing on its cultivation, he has to fight off an army of at least a hundred people without help! No one could deny how amazing his defenses are but he couldn't help but confess that when going up against three top-tier spirit realm experts, it's only a matter of time before his defenses fall!

"There is no way of us reaching the empire anyway… We have been surrounded and since you only have one teleportation formation at the borders of your territory, we cannot leave… most of the healers who came here were ambushed and killed… There is no way out so we can only depend on the lord of the land… I suspect they even let us escape because they knew we have nowhere to run but here" Instructor Hai said with a bitter look on his face.

He had lost one hand in the battle and with no other choice, he could only watch his student fight fiercely and die! The three spirit realm experts were just too much even for him!

"Like I said… You don't have to worry!" Lucien said before gazing at the notifications below.

Amongst them was a warning notification!

[Hostile forces are marching towards your domain!]

Ding!

[Enemy has reached the border, defense mechanisms activated!]

"This won't take long!" Lucien said coldly before he turned into the gray mist and shot out of the room through the nearest window!

As he moved, he realized he is the only one that was not aware of the attack! Right now the barriers surrounding the domain were getting bombarded heavily! It was just a matter of time before it falls! Seeing the people below very restless, Lucien felt enraged!

"LIBET EMPIRE DOGS DARE ATTACK MY DOMAIN! GOOD, VERY GOOD! NONE OF YOU WILL LEAVE THIS PLACE ALIVE!" 

Lucien's enraged voice echoed throughout the domain causing people to look towards the sky and only then did they see a large amount of gray mist surging towards the city gates!

It was their Lord!

The fear they felt vanished and they all began to cheer! The fact Lucien dared to make bold statements meant that he is capable of protecting them! After numerous battles and consecutive victories and pleasant surprises from Lucien, these people viewed him as some sort of deity! 

Their leader is invincible!

Whoosh!

The mist gathered, revealing Lucien's figure shooting towards the borders!

"System, disable the border shields and focus the energy on protecting the city! Have the defense towers support me as soon as the enemy steps foot on my territory!" Lucien ordered

[Affirmative!]

"Focus on the barrier, bring it down! Once it is down and we take care of the magic towers, this territory will fall!" a brown-haired man growled.

He wore a purple mage robe and based on the respectful looks in the eyes of all those who gazed at him, it was obvious he must be an important figure from a noble family.

"That rascal dares kill my little brother! Even the emperor will not be able to save him!" The man growled and was about to give new orders but then, he heard Lucien's enraged growl and even he couldn't help but shiver in fear!

Lucien's words showed he knew of their arrival and he was confident of victory! He felt uneasy and just as he recovered the barrier they were trying to destroy suddenly vanished!

"Something is coming!" someone in the army cried out causing everyone to look to the far distance, allowing them to see the massive mass of mist surging towards them and within it was the silver-haired youth everyone knows as the Night demon!
