Chapter 136: Emperor candidate

Lucien gazed at the old man with a frown on his face. Escaping this man was not an issue but if he left, where else would he go? He had a feeling that the moment he left the empire the creed will most likely make a move against him! In such conditions, Lucien had no other choice but to remain calm and mentally prepare for the worst.

The old man's words were more of a question, in which he is meant to pick sides. In such a situation, Lucien knew lying is not an option!

"The empire I served and adored, failed to consider the fact that I was only thirteen when I went for an expedition that involves a grade two sealed artifact! They failed to realize my effort even after I killed two members of the creed organization and went ahead to make sure no member of my expedition group got harmed. The sealed artifact I consumed was an attempt to save my life so that I can save others from getting ambushed along the way! Yet! I was treated like a common thief, locked in a dungeon for more than a year, and had my integrity and loyalty questioned! I almost got executed for a crime I am still unaware of! Now tell me, old man! If you had to go through all of this at the tender age of thirteen, how will you deal with it?" Lucien's voice kept getting higher the more he spoke. At a point, his usual silver eyes turned blood red and unknown to him, the faceless was already hovering over his head, ready to act based on its master's true feelings!

Seeing Lucien speak, the old patriarch of the Wuxing clan knew this boy was letting out his pains and for a moment, he didn't know how to respond. His instincts kept telling him that if he gave the wrong response, he will die at the hands of this little boy that everyone is looking down on. He was not afraid of Lucien, what he is afraid of was the being residing within Lucien's body. Right now, Lucien's aura was overlapped with a fiery blue aura, it was only a matter of time before Rakuzen manifests itself!

'Can I win against it'

'If it was a year ago I would have been confident but this kid has gotten even stronger, meaning his body can withstand more of its power!'

'No, I won't lose but I may get killed as well….'

"I apologize on behalf of the empire! But I beg you not to act recklessly and let your anger affect the innocent here!" The old man said calmly while bowing lightly!

Seeing this gesture, Lucien who was completely immersed in the thought of tearing this old man apart was stunned and pulled back to reality! He never for once in his life expect that this man of high status almost comparable to that of the emperor to apologize humbly!

"I can't ask for your forgiveness but I wish that you remain loyal to the empire not because of we, the old generation but for the sake of the new generation who have nothing to do with your suffering! Take charge and change the empire, that way no one else will have to go through what you went through!" The old man said loudly.

In response., Lucien gazed at the old man for a while for turning and walking away. Seeing Lucien leave without saying a word, the old man was a bit disappointed. He wished to have a proper chat with Lucien but now, Lucien just walked away without saying a thing. As he turned around and was about to leave, he heard Lucien's voice from afar!

"You don't have to tell me that! It has always been the plan from the start!"

Hearing this the old man couldn't help but smile and at that moment, a figure appeared from the shadow he originally came out from.

"This is why I overlook all his disrespectful actions so far… Even if he ends up killing me, he will still become an amazing emperor!" Emperor Fei laughed bitterly.

"What do you think about him, old man Feng?" He asked.

Hearing this question, the old man remained silent and kept gazing in the direction, Lucien walked towards with squinted eyebrows.

"He did warn us about the artificial magic beasts created by the enemy… If he wished he would easily run off to the Drakon empire and live there peacefully… I think his heart is in the right place but because of his experiences, he has become a bit more twisted but mature… I am sure you agreed to let him become a noble because you wanted to see the kind of leader he is" Wuxing Feng said calmly and coldly.

"Well, if he was just like any other noble in that courtroom I would have personally gone over to the Rakuzen territory to execute him with my own hands but he is different and he has proved that time and time again… He knows how to show mercy and compassion to those who merits it and when its time to pick up the sword, he does not hesitate to cut down the enemy! Just like he did tonight! Killing over a hundred students is a heavy blow on the enemy empire's future! No one can deny that he is the perfect candidate to become the next beast emperor!" Emperor Fei laughed lightly while he spoke.

Listening to this the old man nodded in agreement but he didn't show it on his face. His eyes were still cold making it look like two rivals staring each other down.

"Why are you so serious about finding a successor? You still have centuries to go if you choose not to use the phoenix rebirth technique!" Feng said apprehensively.

"Hahahahaha! It is just a gut feeling… Something tells me that my time is nearing its end… I need to be sure someone capable of taking over is properly groomed.

"And you don't have plans of letting someone from your linage take over?" Feng asked.

"Nope, they are all lacking…. What about yours?" Emperor Fei answered casually.

"They are all lacking too" Feng replied while shaking his head
