Chapter 58: A fierce Battle (2)

Lucien and the others were stunned when they saw the trio approach. Their clothes and appearance looked rough so Lucien and the others knew these people had gone through a lot like them. What stunned them about the trio is the willingness to join forces. As the three said to possess enough potential to rival Lucien's crazy talent or even surpass it due to their magic affinity, it is expected that such people would love to be in charge of any team they join so it's near impossible for them to come together and form a team.

Who the hell is leading?

"You three actually plan on fight a general level beast… you are crazy" Logan said with the same dull vibe he is known for.

"I am guessing you guys will need our help for your shadow abilities to work?" Lenard said.

From Lucien's point of view it's more of a question and judging based on the hint of distrust in their eyes, he was sure they were skeptical about his identity now. He could understand their doubt's about his identity since they couldn't understand why he has the darkness element.

"During my battle with the invaders, alongside the emperor and Instructor Fei, I came across the artifact which the invaders were after… it allows me to attain the powers of any magic beast I defeat… the shadow abilities are from the soldier level magic beast, the Black devil" Lucien answered calmly after giving it some thought…

Listening to him, a hint of surprise, fear and finally understanding flashed through the faces of the trio.

"And I am guessing it's meant to be a secret since the public doesn't know…" Lenard asked while gazing at the Black devil's tattoo on his back.

Seeing Lucien nod a thought came into his head which made him shiver involuntarily.

"That lightning spell… was that you?" Lenard asked slowly while silently praying his suspicions are wrong.

He and his teammates were attacked by a few soldier-level beasts alongside their pack, forcing the three to fight a flee. When the battle was over, the three realized they were lost and that's when the powerful lightning spell appeared above the skies. Seeing this they assumed one of the instructors were had arrived to protect the students but on making their way to the location they saw Lucien and his team facing off against the general level magic beast and only after this did they realize something!

That spell cast earlier was beyond tier two, if there is no instructor here that means the spell was cast by one of them and the only one capable of using the lightning element here is Lucien!

"Yes…" Lucien answered absentmindedly as he watched the hell hound jump out of the flames with little or no damage received from the previous attack. It was clear that the beast has strong fire resistance, making Hex's expression turn sour. With a high resistance towards fire magic, he is as good as useless in this battle.

"That was at least a tier-three spell… how does he know a tier-three spell? Shouldn't he be the same as us?" Susie muttered while the others remained tongue-tied by his answer.

Doesn't that make him the most powerful member of their class? They felt like asking more questions but the condition wasn't right so they chose to push the questions for now and focus on the HELL HOUND CHARGING TOWARDS THEM!

WHOOSH!

Lucien suddenly shut towards the hell hound fearlessly as a star pattern appeared beneath his feet.

[Wind creek dagger summoned]

[Wind creek dive activated!]

"Charge! Flow! Roar!" Lucien roared as his body turned into a beam of white light, shooting forward even faster!

Boom!

Both sides collided and Lucien was seen flying back!

[-10 Durability]

[Wind creek dagger destroyed…]

[-10HP]

Bang!

Lucien smashed the ground hard but he didn't bother looking at his broken weapon since he could still feel the threat of death hovering over his head.

Roar!

The magic beast wasn't pushed back by the attack, instead, it intended to follow up with the attack and put an end to Lucien now.

[WARNING!!!]

[Death claw activated!]

Looking up Lucien saw the massive claws of the magic beast shrouded in dark aura descending on him and since there was no space to dodge, Lucien chose to take the attack head-on!

ROAR!

[Shadow paw activated!]

Lucien growled like a vicious beast as both his hands were engulfed by thick darkness aura and he quickly threw both hands forward.

BOOM!

Both sides collided, creating a mild shockwave but with Lucien flying back violently.

Bang!

His body hit the ground, rolling a couple of times before stopping. He spat out a mouthful of blood and his hands seem to be dangling loosely but even then he still struggled to get on his feet.

"Come on boy!" Lucien growled as the faint image of the black beast appeared behind him and his eyes turned pitch black!

Watching him from the sidelines, the human team, and his own teammates, even though Lucien was getting beaten like a kid, it was still amazing that he could go toe to toe with the general level beast! Unknown to Lucien his actions had touched a lot of hearts and have changed the opinion others had about him.

Roar!

The magic beast roared and dashed forward again, swiping its claws at Lucien but then a figure dashed past Lucien meeting the hell hound's attack head-on!

"Dawn: Full guard!" Brian growled as the massive projection of the golden shield appeared right before the claws could reach him.

Peng!

Peng!

Sounds of claws crashing onto the massive shield were enough to send chills down the spine of those watching but Brian showed no fear.

Whoosh!

The sounds stunned and the hell hound could be seen trying to flank Brian from the side but Hex had already foreseen this and taken action.

"Go Boitata!" Hex growled and his serpent who was waiting for the hell hound to appear lunged forward.

Seeing the incoming serpent, the hell hound brandished its claws at the fire serpent but since the summon was made of fire, it just reformed and latched on to the hell hound's massive body, sinking its fiery fangs into its eyes.

Awwwwwwooooooo!

The hell hound let out a painful howl and shook its body violently but the fire serpent latched on to its body stubbornly.

Grrrrrrrr!

Catching everyone's attention was the massive blue star pattern beneath Lucien's feet and the surging blue bolts of lightning crackling violently around him.

"Another tier-three spell?" Hex and the human team gasped in shock.

With Hex losing focus for a short time, the hell hound took the opportunity to shake the fire serpent off its body before dashing towards the person it considered a threat here!

Lucien!

"No, you don't!" Brian's voice attracted everyone's attention and only then did they notice the hell hound had broken past their line of defense, brandishing its claws at Lucien who was still connecting the star points in the star pattern. Its claws were engulfed in flame and darkness but even then Lucien showed no fear!

With an unflinching will he watched the claws descending on him but even then he showed no fear. He stood there and focused on completing his tier three lightning spell.

Whoosh!

Just before the claw could reach Lucien, Brian's figure could be seen blocking Lucien's body with the shield in his hands and an extremely pale face!

'Using a family heirloom once a day is already amazing but you have managed to use it twice… you are truly a genius' Lucien said while gazing at Brian's back. For the first time, he was complimenting the youth with all his heart!

"Dawn: Full Guard!" Brian spat out a mouthful of blood as he said those words.

Whoosh!

The golden shield appeared once again but this time before it could fully manifest, the hell hound's claws smashed into it damaging it and Brian badly!

Puti!

Brian spat out more blood as he summoned another golden shield to block the next strikes of the hell hound. With each strike, the golden shield lost its glow and Brian's face turned even paler!

Grrrrr!

The ground beneath his feet began trembling and his vision blurred. He has used the family heirloom like four times today, far surpassing his original two times limit.

Bang!

The last strike delivered by the hell hound made him lose his footing and falling on his back. With the golden shield gone, all Brian could see was the huge claws covered in darkness and flame descending on him like a punishment from the depths of the abyss.

"You have done enough, my friend!" Lucien's voice reached his ears as he felt someone catching gently.

Looking up, he saw Lucien's hairs fluttering wildly as a massive thunder spear could be seen floating over his right hand!

"Tier three Lightning magic: Zeus!" Lucien growled viciously.
