Chapter 39: Beast assimilation

Bang!

The lightning struck the ground, leaving behind only a black mark. Seeing this Raizel frowned as he tried to find Lucien but it was already too late. Taking advantage of the short time needed to release the spell, Lucien sprinted to his side and quickly closed the distance between them in mere seconds.

Bam!

Stomping the ground, Lucien shot into the air, spinning recklessly as he prepared to land a spinning roundhouse kick on Raizel but he was met with an unexpected outburst of wind which sent him flying a few meters back.

"Wind magic: Repel!" Layla said while gazing at Lucien coldly.

In her opinion, Lucien may be stronger and faster in terms of physical capabilities but he still lacked magic and the backing of the Raizen god beast, so to cover up for his weakness, he has no choice but to fight them at close quarters. As long as they keep this in mind, they can always cover up their weaknesses.

"An original spell… What an interesting spell… How long did it take you to make one? A day? Three days? A week? Well, it took me only an hour! You are both inferior" Lucien growled before lunging towards them again.

Seeing Lucien's approach, Raizel chose to take a different approach this time. Jumping back, a silver star pattern appeared beneath his feet as a gust of wind enveloped him.

"Wind magic: Wind blade!" He roared as the final star path linked.

Whoosh!

Almost instantly, two shuriken-sized wind blades appeared by his side shooting forward with one slightly ahead but the second a second behind!

"Slow!" Lucien roared as his speed suddenly increased while he ran towards the wind blades.

Shhhhhhhhhhh….

Unexpectedly, Lucien suddenly lowered himself and relied on the momentum gathered to slide forward, effortlessly escaping the two wind blades.

Pa!

Violently slamming the ground with an open palm, Lucien rose his body with his hands and then threw a kick aimed at Raizel's face, but once again he was met with the strong outburst of wind that sent him flying once again. Causing him to hit the ground violently and roll a couple of times before stopping.

"The hell!" Lucien coughed out two mouthfuls of blood as he shot a glance at the health point section of his status

"NOW END IT!" Lucas Raizen's voice snapped him out of his daze, causing him to look up.

Layla and Raziel were both engulfed in a light blue aura with the lightning star pattern beneath their feet.

"Lightning magic: Lightning Bolt!" They both growled as the final star paths were about to connect!

"NONE MAY LOOK THE EMPEROR IN THE EYE!" Lucien growled as his eyes let out a silver glow causing Raizel and Layla to halt in their attacks and also causing the star pattern beneath their feet to shatter as well!

[Gaze of the emperor activated]

"Let me show you what true power looks like!" Lucien hissed as a silver star pattern appeared beneath his feet, releasing a strong gust of wind around him.

His eyes released a silver flash and his black clothes and silver hair fluttered in the wind as his body released a threatening vibe.

"Wasn't his power sealed?"

"Didn't they say his cultivation was crippled?"

"He shouldn't be able to cast spells or even use magic!"

"How is this possible? Were we wrong?" Lucas gazed at Lucien with a complicated, yet fearful look on his face.

He couldn't understand how Lucien was able to cast spells since he was told that the kid may never be able to use magic again and that's why he chose to drop him. Was it that the physicians lied to him or was this a ploy by the empire to snatch Lucien away by temporarily sealing his power and causing the clan to give up on him and get on his bad side while giving them the chance to lure him over to their side.

This theory made sense since when the unconscious Lucien was brought to the clan, he had no wounds on him yet the emperor claimed he was damaged by an attack from the enemy that led to his condition. At that time, he was forced to believe the emperor's words since he couldn't find a reason for the empire to lie to him. But now…

Furiously, he turned to see the astonished and unbelieving look on the emperor's face. His instincts told him that the look on the emperor's face is genuine, meaning that the emperor didn't lie! He too was surprised by the unexpected turn of things.

"Did that brat lie to us?" Lucas Raizen asked the emperor.

"I doubt it… The Lucien Raizen that fought by my side could complete the wind wheel spell in three seconds at most but it's over five seconds now and he's yet to finish" Emperor Fei said while shaking his head.

"It's not that his cultivation wasn't crippled, it's more like he's recovering…. If only you gave him a chance before you made such a decision, this could have been avoided" Emperor Fei said with a hint of disgust in his tone.

"Why are they just standing there?" Lucas Raizen could help but ask when he shifted to Layla and Raziel who someone decided to cancel their spells mid-way and now they were just standing there, watching the slow Lucien cast his spell.

"Wind magic: Wind wheels!" Lucien roared as the familiar feeling of the wind gathering beneath his feet gave him so much confidence.

Bang!

Not daring to waste more time, Lucien shot towards the two beast-men at an even greater speed.  In mere seconds Lucien had reached Layla since he considered her the greater threat!

[Gaze of the emperor deactivated]

"What happened…" Raziel said but then he felt a warm liquid spray all over his face. Turning to his left he saw the headless corpse of Layla falling to the ground.

"Luci…." He screamed while jumping back but Lucien had no intentions of letting him go!

"SILENCE! DON'T MOVE!!" Lucien growled as his eyes let out a silver flash while he chased after him.

Reaching Raizel, he performed a spinning roundhouse kick but this time his attack was aimed at the neck.

Puff!

Using the wind blade beneath his feet, Lucien beheaded Raizel as well, allowing the blood squirting out of the headless corpse, rain down on him.

He didn't mind the blood falling on him.

He didn't mind the silence that filled the hall

Right now his eyes were on the series of notifications he received.
