Chapter 241: Black Myth

Name:My beast Emperor System Author:Riviz
Derik and Lucien kept heading south after their battle with the ant colony. Thanks to their immense power and the nature of their abilities, they didn't incur much damage or losses. They walked at a fast pace and for some reason, none dared to take to the skies for this journey. Lucien didn't know why Derik advised against it but since he trusts Derik it didn't bother him at all.

Even on foot, the duo was extremely fast, covering a large distance just in one day. That night, they set up camp in an open field with a campfire placed at the center of the two tents. Playing with the fire, Derik occasionally threw his hand in and let it burn him till his skin is filled with blisters before pulling it out and watching his injuries heal.

"Do you really feel no pain?" Lucien asked as he gazed at Derik with a complicated look on his face.

Seeing this Derik frowned and he tried to guess why Lucien would suddenly ask that kind of question. After staying silent for a few moments he couldn't come up with any reason and chose to answer.

"It's not that I don't feel pain... Well, casual things like getting stabbed or so don't phase me... More intense things like getting my legs ripped out and all that are quite different... I feel that but I just have a high pain tolerance... In my old world, even before gaining the immortal body, I was famous for using suicidal tactics to take down many powerful foes" Derik explained as watched his injuries heal.

"Wow... You must have been a badass from the start" Lucien said and Derik chuckled in response.

"I was a no name with no magic and slightly above average archery skills... I got lucky when I was bitten by a werewolf alpha... And from there, things just got better... So you can say I got lucky when I acquired this death magic, the rest of the way was hard work" Derik said calmly, stunning Lucien.

"Wow... Why didn't you let us fly though? We could have covered more ground" Lucien said, trying to keep the conversation going.

"Powerful wind beasts were residing above the clouds with their aura concealed, that is why you didn't notice. They were scared of us and chose not to fight but if we went up there, I doubt we would be able to win" Derik said thoughtfully, making Lucien frown.

What exactly can make a beast like Derik cautious? Well since he focused on the numbers, Lucien could understand what Derik was saying. Just like their fight with the ant queen, he had released all his beast assimilations with Derik's undead army, yet he was put in a disadvantageous position, not because of the strength of the enemy, but the numbers!

"So what now?" Lucien asked and Derik chuckled, sitting up.

"It is surprising you have been following me all this while and this is the first time you are asking me about my plans? If I planned to set you up, you would have been dead already" Derik said with a sinister smile.

"I wasn't bothered because you don't seem to be their scheming type" Lucien said while shrugging his shoulders indifferently.

Seeing this Derik frowned. It's either this kid is a complete idiot or just another fool confident in his abilities!

"Trust is not something you command... You earn it... You have gained my trust and respect... So I don't mind if you carry me to the ends of the world or the underworld... As long as you are willing to go, I will follow" Lucien said, making the stone-hearted Derik smile.

"Stupid kid" He mumbled as he leaned back and took a deep breath.

Gazing at the stairs, Derik remained silent for a long while before finally speaking.

"Have you heard of the Black myth?" Derik asked with a raised eyebrow.

Hearing it, Lucien's face froze. This was a scary story all beast-man hear from their parents when they are little. It is said that the black myth is responsible for the death of close to a quarter of the beast-man population! He rode a black shadow dragon and dawned an armor of darkness. Each time he struck no one could stop him! Rumor has it that he only vanished when he was confronted by the dragon emperor when he dared to attack the Drakon Empire. The battle was said to be intense and bone-chilling but in the end, the black myth was defeated and he barely escaped with his life. Since then he has never made an appearance again.

"Yes... I have... Everyone has... Why do you ask?" Lucien replied with signs of discomfort in his voice. He obviously didn't fancy getting forced to remember such a thing.

"I know the black myth in person... He is from the Libet empire. A man on par with the human emperor Slade... Leader of the Sin clan! Which is only slightly weaker than that royal family in terms of influence but not strength... From what I got to know, he got his shadow dragon by stealing a dragon egg... What if I told you I know where the dragon nest is?" Derik said with a satisfied look on his face.

Hearing these words, Lucien's jaws fell to the ground in shock. He didn't know why he was stunned! Whether it was because of the fact that Derik knew such a legend or he knew where the dragon nest is located.

"Damn it, man! I have lived in this world longer than you, how do you know was more than me?" Lucien complained and Derik just laughed in response.

He leaned back and shut his eyes while trying to control his emotions and sort things out properly. The appearance of a dragon nest means two things. Not only are they going against a real dragon but a nest filled with them. A dragon alone has the strongest bloodline amongst magic beasts, making many people unwilling to fight them. Fighting a large number of them is no different from courting death!

Suicide!

"I know this plan is crazy but why am I feeling excited here... Hehehehehe! You are really a bad influence!" Lucien said with his eyes shut and Derik smiled.

"That's the spirit!" He said with a wild grin!
