Chapter 230 - The Agitated Heart (1)

(Jane's PoV)

"Insolent!" The maid behind my back shouted in displeasure as they heard me threatening their Queen. The other maids' eyes also turned vigilant as they shot me a warning glare.

I watched as the Queen's expression turned dark, obviously she had never thought before that I would say something like that. Even though provoking them was the last in my list, I wouldn't step back if something really happened to my father. It wouldn't be an empty threat if it did happen; I would make sure to make it happen.

"Child, don't be impulsive." She said dangerously. Her eyes flashed with a murderous intent, ready to take me down in a flash if I did something reckless.

"Try me." I smiled as I looked straight at her eyes, meeting her gaze head on.

Listening to my open provocation, those maids went into battle mode, ready to attack me. However, since I had not seen my father, I wouldn't start this fight.

The tense atmosphere went for minutes that I was sure that just a small movement from me could trigger those maids to attack me. That's how anxious they were.

It was just around two or three minutes, but I felt like it was almost an hour when the big door was pushed open from the other side. Two maids pushed open the door wide and I watched as the other one appeared with someone in her tail.

My eyes went wide as I tried to see the figure behind her back clearly. It had been months since I last saw him yet he didn't show any signs of aging. Shouldn't a man grow a bit of beard when they didn't shave for weeks, let alone months? But, my father looked exactly the way he left the house that day.

Did he shave in South Sea? That question somehow made me dumbfounded as I couldn't imagine a man like my father bent all the rules in a kingdom where all the citizens were women to take care of himself.

After scanning my father's body, even went as far to ignore his questions, I could finally let out a sigh of relief. He was fine. The Queen didn't lie.

"Jane, are you okay?" My father repeated his question after he saw me sighing.

"I'm okay, Dad. Did they hurt you?"

"No. It may sound serious, but they didn't hurt me. How is your mother?"

"I sent Mom back to England. I had no other choice since her presence could slow down my effort in finding you. Also, I'm worried about her safety so I think making her stay with Aunt Rachel would at least guarantee her safety." I explained to him and noticed him relax after listening to my answer.

"Milord, the Queen is waiting." One of the maid reminded us that there was one more person in the room who was so anxious over unknown reason.

Exchanging glances, I nodded at my father and we moved towards the Queen. My father gave her a polite salute before he looked back at me.

"Do you bring the Creese?" He asked me solemnly.

Unlike before, I didn't hesitate to take out the creese. Rummaging through my bag, I pulled out a slender box and gave it to my father.

"My Queen, thank you for taking good care of my father." I made a polite salute towards the Queen which was responded with a wave of her slender fingers. There was a trace of helplessness inside her eyes.

"It was my fault for being overly anxious. Pardon my rudeness." She said softly.

I was a bit startled that she would lower herself to admit to her mistakes. After all, she was a Queen. No King or Queen would directly admit their mistakes. Giving out compensation was enough to be considered an apology.

She had lowered herself to admit her mistakes, then I would give her no face if I continued to find fault with her.

"I was being impolite as well, I hope my Queen could be magnanimous and overlook my rudeness for this once." I bowed even deeper to show my sincerity.

"Lord Satya's daughter is indeed spectacular." The soft and warm smile returned to her face, making her aura as a Queen radiated even more.

"My Queen, the Black Creese is here." My father presented the creese in the open box towards her respectfully.

The Queen looked hesitant for a bit before she waved her hand towards the creese. An invisible force made the creese floating towards her steadily. However, the Black Creese emitted a soft red glow when it came into contact with the Queen's power.

It reminded me of the time when the creese went berserk. Surely it wouldn't attack the Queen, right? After all, it even said that it knew her.

The Creese stopped in front of the Queen while still floating above her hand. "We meet again, Black Creese."

The creese let out a soft hum, as if answering the Queen's words.

"I need your help again, along with your master."

I shot my father a glance. Why did she mean by 'help'? If she really needed my father's help, she didn't have to kidnap him, right?

The creese let out a soft hum again, probably agreeing to her request. "We can start anytime, my Queen." My father was surprisingly obedient while I felt like I was being kept in the dark about what was going on.

The creese vibrated and flew back to its box in my father's hands. My lips twitched. The formidable and terrifying force inside the creese was so obedient that I found it's hard to believe that it was a tool that was used to massacre humans.

The Queen didn't say anything, but the anxiety returned to her face. She looked like she was in hurry to go somewhere, but at the same times, she was maintaining her elegance and hospitality towards her guests.

"My Queen, maybe we should do it now." My father suggested.

What should we 'do' now? What had happened, I really couldn't follow.

"You're right. Then, I have to trouble you." The Queen nodded and tore open a portal. "Little girl, you can come, too."

Of course, I would come with you, guys. But, where would you guys go?
