Chapter 5 - The Guess Game (1)

Name:My Ghostly Romance Author:Poisonlily
Yang Mi stood on the edge of the rooftop where the helipad was placed in the middle of the condominium complex.

The cold wind swept past her. Leaning forward, Yang Mi took her time to look around her before closing her eyes and surrendering herself to her senses.

Thousands of noises entered her ears as soon as she closed her eyes. From the mewls of the street cats on the park and the singing of the crickets from the forest behind the condominium complex. Everything was just too loud for her that she couldn't stop herself from frowning.

Earlier, Aunt Huang and Old Xuan complained about a baby ghost. Not the literal infant one but a newborn ghost who had just became a ghost for a few months or days.

Apparently, this newborn ghost has been playing around with humans. Surprisingly, he had a lot of spiritual energy packed in his form as he could already possess a human body and create mischief.

Usually, Yang Mi didn't care about matters like this and ignore it. But according to Aunt Huang, this newborn ghost has killed in her territory. It wasn't his first kill too.

The first and second kill was in a city next to her territory. But the third until fifth happened around the borders of her territory. She clearly didn't hear any of these news or else, she would've taken care of it earlier. Anyway, it caused a lot of problems to the ghosts nearby and they feared that they would be implicated once the humans finds out the truth.

Unlike her, normal ghosts could be exorcised and banished away by humans. Something that never happened to her but Yang Mi wouldn't allow things like this to happen to her territory or to the ghosts that lives in it.

And it seems that these murders was connected to what her Detective was investigating.

Sighing deeply, Yang Mi focused towards her task and it didn't take long for her to know what she's looking for.

A few streets and corners to her right, the sound of a sinisterous laughing polluted her ears.

Anyone could be laughing right now but the tone of that laughter didn't carry the innocence that one would usually use when laughing at something. Instead, there was a thick murderous and vicious tone that accompanied the laugh as if it enjoyed what he was doing.

Not only that, the pleading voice of whoever was at the end of that laughter didn't bode well.

Scratching her head, Yang Mi didn't know what she should do. It's not because she couldn't do anything to the newborn ghost buy because she didn't really have the heart to save the human.

But could she let the murders continue was another question.

Stepping over the edge of the rooftop, Yang Mi let herself fall. The blurred lines of lights and colors entered her vision before she took control of her body and flew across the streets and corners only to arrive in a small abandoned house.

There was no lights in the house and gate was left open. Probably, the owner of the house didn't do well in securing it tightly or a nameless gang turned the house into their own fun-house.

Yang Mi didn't even get to step ten steps when a old man with a hatchet stuck in his head. Blood was still dripping down his face as he cautiously approached her.

"Young Miss!" The hatchet man called out to her.

Yang Mi paused in her step and glanced at him. "Is it still inside?" She asked, letting the hatchet man approach her.

The 'it' she mentioned was the newborn ghost who was still focused on doing whatever he was doing inside the house.

The hatchet man nodded his head rigorously that it almost took the hatchet off his head.

"He's been there for an hour already. I dare not look inside in fear of getting involved with him." The hatchet man said.

Yang Mi smiled. "You did right."

At least the ghosts in her territory was sensible not to get involved in people and activities like this or they will have to answer to her.

Leaving the hatchet man behind, Yang Mi walked to the gate and into the house silently that even the newborn ghost couldn't sense her.

Inside the house, the sound of the sinisterous laughing was getting louder and annoying that Yang Mi just wanted to crush it into a pulp.

"Hahahaha! Come on! Scream some more for me. It wouldn't be exciting anymore if you don't scream for mercy!" A man snarled inside the house.

"Don't be shy… I promise I won't go after your pretty little sister." The man laughed. He didn't realize that the woman he was beating up was already far gone.

He continued to taunt his victim, hoping he could get a reaction. And when he got nothing, he got agitated that he kicked and kicked again.

Rolling her eyes at the sight, Yang Mi was disgusted at the sight. Don't get her wrong. She regretted not coming sooner and letting the victim die in the hands of this monster.

However, she had no sympathy or guilt left for the humans who destroyed that two remaining emotions that she felt for them.

Feeling tired and sick of seeing the man continue kicking the dead, Yang Mi snapped her fingers.

Without a warning, the man was airborne and hit the wall upfront. His face came up bloody with the impact.

The man screamed in pain and groaned as he tried to understand what had just happened. He shook his head like a wet dog and tried to sit up.

"I suggest you stay down and do nothing lest I get out of control and destroy you completely." Yang Mi said her usual warnings to misbehaving ghosts she come across now and then.

Glaring murder at her, the newborn ghost inside the man snarled, "You b*tch!"

"Tut! Not quite. Guess again." Yang Mi snapped her fingers again and the loud crashing sound soon came after.

Like a missile thrown to the sky, the man hit the ceiling this time and plopped loudly once he fell down.
