85 She Needs To Do Something

Ding!

The elevator door is open and the girl went out. Xue Mei unmoving from the spot until a few people start to get in the elevator, she moves and went out of it.

"Cancer?" She grips her hand on her sling bag strip.

"Ms. Xue Mei?" Mr. Takashi stand up seeing Xue Mei walking straight without looking at him.

Startle, she turns around and looks at Mr. Takashi. His face showed that he was wondering what happen to her that make her like that?

"Sorry, I didn't notice you, Mr. Takashi."

"It's okay. Did you meet with your friend?" He asks and they striding to the parking space.

"No. She already left."

"Oh, such a shame." He replies.

Inside the car, Xue Mei keeps thinking about it as she remains silent at the passenger seat. 'So, Ren know that she is sick, so he..he accompanies her every day for her treatment? But, why he didn't tell me? Everyone thought that he is Ha Eun's boyfriend. Is he really get back with her? Why didn't he tell me?'

"Ms.."

Mr. Takashi calls her name. When there's no reply, he calls her again.

"Ms.?"

Flinch a bit, she looked up at the driver seat. "Yes?"

"Your phone." Mr. Takashi narrow his eyes on her sling bag.

Noticing that her phone vibrating, she immediately pick up the call without looking at the caller.

"Hey, babe. Did you call me earlier?" Ren's voice makes her heart feels squeezed.

"Erm..yeah."

"What is it about? Sorry, I have a thing to do."

"Winter festival. The theme is Shade. Do you have any idea?" She tries to suppress her feeling and maintain her calm voice.

"Shade? Erm..I'll thinks about it. Hey, how about if we make a group of three?" He tries to give a suggestion.

"Three?"

"Yup. You, me and Ha Eun?"

"No. Just stick with only us." She refuses.

"Babe..she's good at painting, it could benefit us.."

"Us? Or is it just you? If you wanna group with her, leave me and I'll do it on my own." She hangs up the call after that. She can't contain her emotions anymore.

Feeling a bit piss off, she asks Mr. Takashi to drop her at the River Park.

Mr. Takashi could only follow her decision. He could see that she was a bit distracted since she back from the hospital. There's must be something going there. Mr. Takashi thought.

Ren a bit startle when Xue Mei said something like that. She never refuses him and always be optimistic about everything. Why did she a bit pissed off today?

"What's wrong?" Ha Eun asks. They both were having dinner at some restaurant. Normally after the treatment, Ha Eun will feel a bit hungry and they go to eat first before he sending her home.

"Erm, nothing." He shakes his head. While he feels a bit uneasy with Xue Mei's voice just now.

"Is Xue Mei agree with your idea?"

Ren didn't know how to answer her. Smiling, Ha Eun pats on Ren Zhi's hand.

"Its okay, Ren. I can do it."

"Were you able to finish it before the dateline? In your current condition.."

"I'll be okay. I can paint while I do the treatment. But, promise me that while I was painting, you should not come to the hospital."

"But.."

"There's a lot of nurse there that I can ask for help. Don't worry."

"Fine." He finally gives up the idea of letting her join his group.

Xue Mei stares at the river bank blankly.

She tries to calm her heart but she feels so angry and at the same times, she feels unfair. She turns off her phone so that no one can disturb her right now.

After a few hours, she decides to return to the dorm. Put the sling bag on her shoulder, she stands up and turns around.

Gasp!

"Done with stomping, punching, grumbling, and cursing?" Xui Li ask her while crossing his hand around his chest.

He was leaning on the tree behind the bench where she was sitting before.

"X...Xui Li..what are you doing here?" She stammering a bit.

Looking at his nails, he says. "Looking for some inspiration for my winter showdown, but a certain someone disturbs my therapy by the making the grumpy noise not far from me."

Like a blade cut through her defense, she feels like someone just stabs her.

"Erm..sorry."

"It's okay. I had another day to find back my inspiration." He said and both of them start walking side by side at the walkway.

"Who makes you that angry?" Xui Li asks.

"Erm..nobody. I just had my bad day."

"So, even an optimistic person like you also know how to get pissed off huh?"

"Mm..not everything can be accepted, right?" She said quietly.

"Xue Mei.." He glances at her.

"What?"

"Are you hungry?"

"Hell, yeah." She replies.

"Wanna eat somewhere before we return to the dorm?"

"Yes, please..you still owed me Haagen-Dazs bingsu." She reminds him of his debt.

"Oh! I almost forgot. So, let's find something to eat first before I bring you to eat your ice cream."

"Yup, let's go."

The next day, Ren Zhi find Xue Mei after class.

"Hi, babe." He went to her and hug her a little before he wraps his hand around her shoulder.

"What do you want?" Xue Mei still in sulking mode.

"Hey, are you sulking?" He stares her eyes.

"Yeah, so?" She rolled her eyes.

"Okay, I'm sorry. Let's just discuss this project peacefully okay?" He kisses her on the cheek like always.

"Fine." They went to his workshop and start to sort out all the possibilities to create before they finalize the art they wanna do.

A few hours later, they came with one selection. They decide on doing the painting of sundown.

"So, babe, I need you to use a brush to make this part look livelier and this part looks a bit dark. The sky and the sun, just leave it to me. You do the shore and the sea. Okay?"

"Okay. So, we split this canvas into two pieces?" She asks. Because the upper side is Ren who decide to do it, while she does the lower part. That's mean they had to split it into two canvas.

"Yes. We gather it back a week before the competition. Combine it and see if there is any flaw in our art, okay?"

Xue Mei nods her head. So, they actually did not have to do it together like before. With this, he had more time to accompany Ha Eun and less time with her. She knows she needs to do something or else, her relationship really gonna break up soon.
