Chapter 48

The next day, Fu Hengyi and Shen Qinglan went back to the main estate and stayed with Grandpa Fu for the whole day. They accompanied Grandpa Shen too, and spent the night at the main estate.

On the third day, Fu Hengyi hurried back to the army after lunch. He only said he would return by the end of the month.

Having nothing to do in the afternoon, Shen Qinglan finally realized she had forgotten about Shen Junyu. She made a trip to their apartment, grab the present meant for him, and went on her way.

At the ground floor of the Junlan building, Shen Qinglan was about to head upstairs when the receptionist stopped her.

“May I help you?”

“I’m here to see Shen Junyu.”

The receptionist smiled when she heard that she was looking for the chairman. “Do you have an appointment?”

Shen Qinglan shook her head. Coming to see Shen Junyu was a spontaneous decision. There was no time to make an appointment.

“I’m sorry, Miss. You can’t meet the chairman if you don’t have an appointment. Why don’t you register here first?” The receptionist said politely.

“No need, I’ll wait here,” Shen Qinglan pointed at the nearby sofa and said. She did not want to trouble the woman.

The receptionist smiled and said, “Have a seat, then.”

She spotted the gift bag Shen Qinglan was carrying and had a hunch. Perhaps she was another one of the chairman’s admirers, here to show her affection. Alas, this lady was a lot prettier and more charming than the previous girls who came looking for him. She seemed quite aloof, however. Could the chairman be attracted to that type of women?

Shen Qinglan sat on the sofa and called Shen Junyu on her phone.

“Bro, I’m in your company but I’m not allowed to go up. I have something for you. Can you ask someone to come get them?”

Shen Junyu was in a meeting. His eyebrows furrowed in surprise when he received her call. When he heard that she was in the building, he left the conference room immediately. The executives who were left behind exchanged glances as they made a guess at whoever was calling him.

“Why didn’t you tell me you were coming? I could have waited for you.” Shen Junyu rushed out from his personal elevator and laid eyes on the person on the sofa.

Shen Qinglan passed the bag to him. “It was an impromptu decision. I’ve brought you your gift.”

Shen Junyu did not take the bag. Instead, he looked at her begrudgingly, “So you’ve finally remembered me? I thought you’ve completely forgotten about me, you wretched girl.”

Shen Qinglan’s expression remained unchanged. She brought attention to the bag in her hand. “If you don’t want it, I can give it to someone else.”

Shen Junyu quickly grabbed the bag and held it in his arms, “Don’t even think about it. It’s mine.”

“Since it’s in your hands now, I’m going to take my leave.”

“No,” Shen Junyu grabbed her next. “This is your first visit to the company. I should give you a tour.”

Shen Qinglan had nothing to do that afternoon, so she did not object to her brother’s suggestion. She followed him into his personal elevator.

The receptionist had been staring at the two since the moment Shen Junyu arrived and only returned to normal when the two figures disappeared in the elevator.

So the woman was really the chairman’s sweetheart. No wonder she could call the chairman by name. He must really love her and care for her, otherwise he would not have personally come to meet her himself. She had never seen the chairman treat anybody else so nicely.

And so, within a day, rumors of the chairman having a secret girlfriend and how much he adored her began to spread throughout Junlan Group.

The two people who had gone up knew absolutely nothing about it.

“Lanlan, take a rest in the office. I have a meeting to attend. Won’t be long.”

Shen Junyu said. He re-entered the conference room after Shen Qinglan nodded.

Soon after, Secretary Liu came to serve tea. Shen Qinglan favored tea over coffee.

“Thanks,” Shen Qinglan said politely.

She examined Shen Junyu’s office. The black-and-white theme of its design was somewhat different from his usual style. At the corners of his office were a few potted plants. A large bookshelf leaned against the wall.

Shen Qinglan scanned the books there and fetched one at random. She sat on the sofa and began looking through it.

Shen Junyu did not take a long time to end the meeting, just like he said. When he entered his office, he was followed by his assistant, Yu Bin, who naturally noticed Shen Qinglan.

Yu Bin knew who she was, so he did not find it strange when the chairman abruptly left the meeting just now. He had known long ago that the chairman of their company had a sister complex.

“You’re here, Miss Shen.”

“It’s been a while, Assistant Yu. Your present is in that bag too. You can get it from my brother.”

Flattered, Yu Bin exclaimed, “There’s one for me?”

Shen Qinglan nodded lightly, “Do take it as a token of gratitude, for the many times I’ve troubled you in the past.”
