A strange place, strange men, and this frantically twisting body… All these experiences were so new and fascinating to her.

The man holding her rested his hands on her thigh and took the opportunity to cop a feel. Shen Xitong was not annoyed, but she even got closer to the man and exhaled in his ear. A seductive smile stretched across her face, which was heavy with makeup.

The man’s hands, which had been holding her, tightened, unable to bear such flirting. He wanted to leave the dance floor with her, but she turned around and left his side. She let herself dance along to another random man next to her.

Shen Qinglan relished the sight from above. Shen Xitong wore heavy makeup that night and had opted for sexy, revealing clothes, both of which contrasted greatly with her usual image of a young, innocent lady so much so that those who were not familiar with her would not recognize her at all. However, Shen Qinglan had no problems with these choices made by her adopted sister.

She knew Shen Xitong too well. Even if she dressed up like that, Shen Qinglan would still be able to spot her among the crowd.

“What are you looking at?” Fu Hengyi’s voice rang by her ear. Shen Qinglan came to.

“Why did you come out?” Isn’t he in the booth?

“I need some air,” Fu Hengyi said. He did not say he was worried about her when she had not returned, so he went out to find her.

“Do you want to head downstairs?” Fu Hengyi followed her gaze to the floor below but saw nothing out of the ordinary. He thought Shen Qinglan simply wanted to hit the pub.

Shen Qinglan withdrew her gaze and shook her head. “No. I thought I saw someone I know, but I was mistaken. Let’s go.”

Fu Hengyi suspected nothing.

The two returned to the booth. The gang had started playing mahjong again.

“Missus, do you want to play?” Han Yi invited her.

Shen Qinglan shook her head and declined, “I don’t know how to play.”

Han Yi’s eyes sparkled, “You’ll just have to learn, missus. The game’s simple. I can teach you. If you win, that’s your victory. If you lose, it’s Hengyi’s.”

Shen Qinglan retorted, “Normally, shouldn’t you say my victory is mine while my loss is yours?”

“Fine, whatever you say. I’ll cover your losses while you keep your win,” Han Yi readily agreed with her. She was a greenhorn, so they would win her hands down. Even if he lost, it would not be by much.

Gu Kai stood up and let Shen Qinglan take his seat.

Shen Qinglan sat down. Fu Hengyi pulled a chair and sat next to her.

Han Yi spoke out when he saw that, “First things first. Fu Hengyi, you’re not allowed to help.” This man knew how to count cards. Even if combined together, they could not beat him.

Fu Hengyi did not even spare a glance at him. He faced Shen Qinglan and said, “Give it your best shot. Don’t worry if you lose, I have the money.”

Shen Qinglan cast him a glance too, but said nothing. Neither the winner nor the loser was decided yet.

Shen Qinglan was definitely a newcomer to the game. She learned the game pieces as Han Yi showed them to her, but she had remarkable memory. Han Yi only had to introduce the game pieces once and she could remember all of them.

Once the game officially started, Han Yi gradually withdrew his initial inattentiveness. In the end, he was practically drenched in cold sweat. Shen Qinglan lost in the first three rounds, but she won every game after.

There were several times when he almost scored a win, but Shen Qinglan managed to intercept his game plan. Once or twice might have been by chance, but she did that at least three or four times. Han Yi was hard pressed on betting Shen Qinglan did that on purpose.

“Missus, you lied. You’re not a newbie. In fact, you’re the smartest trickster here.” After losing yet another round, Han Yi decided to called it quits and complained.

Fu Hengyi gave him a sidelong glance, “Don’t play then, sore loser.”

“I’m the sore loser? Missus is the one playing dumb here,” Han Yi said irritably. He had never known him to be someone who would betray a friend for a woman.

“This is certainly my first time trying my hand at this game,” Shen Qinglan said, looking at him innocently. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have won the first three rounds too, she thought.

“I believe her,” Jiang Chenxi spoke up.

Gu Yang nodded as well.

The two of them lost quite a bit that night, but that amount was nothing compared to Han Yi’s situation.

Han Yi wavered between doubt and belief, “For real?”

Shen Qinglan nodded with certainty.

“This doesn’t make sense. I can’t even beat a newcomer.”

“That’s because the missus knows how to count her cards,” Jiang Chenxi unveiled the mystery.

Han Yi choked. He gazed at Shen Qinglan like he would a monster.

“Transfer my wife’s allowance to my account tomorrow. You know my number,” Fu Hengyi spoke, not forgetting to request for his wife’s earnings. “It’s getting late. We’re going back.”

He did not even bat an eye at everyone else as he said that, then he left with Shen Qinglan. The two did not go anywhere else. They headed straight home.

They washed up separately when they returned home. That night, Fu Hengyi did nothing but held her close as they slept.

He said he wanted not just Shen Qinglan’s person, but her heart as well. He had the patience, and would wait for the day she was willing to reciprocate.
