Chapter 373 - Defense

The council of war in Zairus just learned that another alien spaceship decided to descend on Montego… 

It is quite far for them so reinforcements and supplies wouldn't arrive that fast… The country would have to hold on for a while and try to defend against the spaceship… 

"They have the Magic Tower with them… I think that they're pretty strong even without our help."

Marvin C.u.m.m.i.n.gs, the representative of the Congress, commented…

Troy Webb and Yumi Juria looked at the man. They're unsure whether he's joking or not…

Only the three of them were at the table right now and the others were just a projection as they are also quite busy with other matters. 

Aaron Schmidt, who heard Marvin, expressed his concern about the way he was thinking.

"No matter how strong their Towers are, the powers of the aliens shouldn't be disregarded at all. You've seen what happened in outer space… Although Wallace reported that some of their equipment may not work, their most powerful technology would still run without any problems..."

"That's right… I think this is a good chance to destroy it and take their technology to study them. There's only one spaceship in Montego and this might be a chance for us."

Troy added after hearing the young man. 

He knows that the Lucent Force just acquired a spaceship from Wallace's factory and only their forces can move fast and send aid to the island country…

However, without the approval of the council, they have to remain within the borders of the country and protect it from possible invasions.

"What do you think, Yumi?"

Charles, the head of the council, asked. Because of her familiarity with Wallace, she knows a lot about his plans.

But everyone here has access to Avalon already… So she felt that it better to ask the A.I. instead…

"Mhmm… Let's ask Avalon first."

"Very well."

They then summoned the A.I.'s presence to facilitate their meeting…

"Avalon, how strong is that spaceship? Are they at the same level as the ones that landed in Kazan?"

[ No. The Black Sovereign that just descended is stronger than the combined forces of the spacesh.i.p.s in the State of Kazan. ] 

"What?!"

Everyone was shocked after hearing Avalon's report… They are already thinking of exploring the spacesh.i.p.s but it seems that it will be very difficult for them. 

"How come it's that strong? I saw that Wallace's spaceship destroyed one of those spacesh.i.p.s… Isn't that right?" Hayden Fraser asked curiously… 

He's not doubting Avalon's calculation about the power of the spaceship but he wanted to know the reason behind its rating.

[ The attack in outer space is different. They have no prior knowledge about the power of our own spacecraft and the existence of various Mana Spells. However, they already have information about it and they would most likely stop probing the capabilities of the magicians. If they engaged in battle, there is a high chance that they'll no longer reserve their powerful technologies and use them accordingly. ] 

Avalon tried to be brief with its explanation. After all, there is a country being attacked right now. They have to quickly make a decision on how to approach this war. 

"Thank you for letting us know, Avalon… Do you think that Montego would last for long?"

[ Yes, they have incredible Mage Towers that even Veda could not properly gauge. There are also numerous magicians on standby to engage in close combat. Even if the aliens decided to destroy them, it would still take a while giving plenty of time for its allies. ]

"Mhmm… You might be right, Avalon… But do you know whether all the other spacesh.i.p.s would descend later today?"

[ We are still unable to determine the purpose of their random descent. However, it would be better if you will still be ready in case they decided to descend here. ] 

"I see… So we can't find a pattern yet." Yumi muttered after hearing the A.I.

It's indeed difficult to guess since there's only a couple of descents they could study right now. 

Nevertheless, after Avalon heard this, it decided to add Wallace's speculations. Although it is still not accurate, it might help the council decide on their next move.

[ Wallace has informed that the Empire might be looking for some strange energy on the planet aside from their plans to capture the natives. ] 

Avalon already informed them before that the Empire would most likely plan to capture the native magicians of this planet. 

After all, it's a common practice in invasion so it's not that hard to guess.

"A strange energy?"

"It's not a mana?"

"Perhaps the Mana Calamity?"

"That's possible… But why would they look for that?"

Everyone has a guess but Avalon dismissed them. 

[ It is most likely similar to the energy coming from the Memory Crystal. The site where the spaceship landed in Montego has Memory Crystal Mines a kilometer away from them. As for the site in the state of Kazan, we are still investigating since we lack records on that country. ] 

'If that's true, then there's a possibility that they will also descend in Stella Region.'

This is what everyone thought. The Stella Region is the only place in their country that has a mine for Memory Crystals. The Seed Holdings is the one currently supervising the mining project of such precious material. 

"Thank you Avalon for all of this information. In case you're still keeping something from us, please tell them now." 

Charles said as he smiled wryly. If they aren't asking the A.I., it wouldn't give them such information aside from the basic ones they needed. 

In the end, Avalon no longer has anything to say. 

The A.I. just reminded them that Wallace would still be dealing with Seiji and the Aliens from afar. After all, it would be disastrous if Seiji also decided to launch their attack on the allied countries of Zairus.

"I think that we should send our reinforcements to Montego now… The other countries may be sending them now as we speak."

After Avalon left their meeting, Troy continued with his suggestion to send a unit of Lucent Force to help them fight the aliens…

The man felt that even if an alien spaceship descends without the Lucent Force's spaceship, they will be able to defend it until it returns.

After all, not only do they have Wallace's support, they also have various Steel Knights, Iron Knights, the Grand Sages, Grand Arcanists, and incredibly powerful 6th Generation Mana Artifacts being used by their elite magicians.

It means that they have enough power to avoid getting easily defeated by these aliens.

After a couple more minutes of discussions, they decided to send their elites to Montego while sending most of their reserve forces to Stella Region… 

This way, they will be able to quickly respond if ever the aliens decided to descend here just like what Avalon suggested.

Julian coordinated with all the controllers and confirmed that they fired Mana Bombs and Disruption Wave to the descending spacecraft…

The two Mana Spells lack penetrative force but it doesn't matter… The spells were meant to attack all the personnel inside the spaceship. 

This is what they learned as an effective approach against the aliens from watching Wallace's battles in outer space before. 

They learned about the incredibly powerful defense of the alien spacesh.i.p.s so they wanted to fight them differently. By using Mana Spells that can ignore physical defense, they wanted to take down as many aliens as they can while they are still inside the spaceship.

"How was the damage dealt?"

"We are still unable to tell, Sir Julian. However, we can confirm that no external problems are showing at this point… They're really as tough as we thought they were."

"Mhmm… That's expected. The environment in outer space is harsh for the spacecraft… Celestial bodies might just collide unto you if you're not paying attention."

Julian said this as he felt that physical Attacks may not be as effective as they were.  Nevertheless, he knows that the Mage Towers who launched their attacks haven't used their full power yet. 

"Don't let it control the pace… Continue with the bombardment… The magicians will soon arrive."

He is referring to the top magicians of Montego… They are hurrying to this place as they speak to provide support. 

He knows that his country is powerful and they just need to have a very good network of communication… 

"It seems like mana spells that ignore physical defense is very effective. We'll switch on using that for now."

"Yes, Sir Julian…"

As Julian was giving orders to everyone, he was notified about the plans of their allied countries to aid them.

He's thankful for them but he felt that they would still take a lot of time before they arrive. Perhaps, they have already overpowered this spaceship once the forces from Zairus and the others have landed in the country.
