Chapter 167 - She was the Only One Who Knew Nothing

Han Yue Xiu rushed over to her mother's side to check on her condition. "Mom, what's wrong with you?"

"Yue Xiu," Mother Han whispered weakly. Then, she pointed towards the table next to them.

Han Yue Xiu looked over and saw a small bag and inside, there were few packets of medicine. She looked at the various drugs and was flustered as she did not know which medicine she should give. "Mom! Which one?"

Mother Han pointed at one of them and Han Yue Xiu quickly opened the package. She checked the dosage written and handed them to her mother before rushed into the kitchen for a glass of water.

Han Yue Xiu's face turned pale as she watched her mother tried to breathe. Swiftly, she took out her phone and dialed her father's number.

Unfortunately, at this time, her father had turned his phone off due to work. Han Yue Xiu then tried to dial the emergency number. But it was at this moment that she realized that she did not know the emergency number in S Country.

Han Yue Xiu knocked her forehead with her phone as she tried to think.

Suddenly, she stood up as a person came to her mind. "Mom, you wait here. I'll get some help." Han Yue Xiu said before she rushed out the door.

Song Yi was packing up his luggage when he heard the continuous knock on his door. He walked over to the door and through the peeping hole, he found Han Yue Xiu standing in front of him with an anxious look on his face.

Instinctively, Song Yi could tell that something does not seem right with her.

Han Yue Xiu who was always so strong in front of him had tears running down her cheek.

Song Yi felt a tug in his heart. Quickly, he swung the door open and asked, "Han Yue Xiu, what's wrong with you?"

"My mom," Han Yue Xiu spoke anxiously. "Something wrong with my mom. Song Yi, did you know this country's emergency hotline?"

"I'll call them," Song Yi offered. He took out his phone from his pocket and dialed a number.

Once he entered the room, Song Yi found that Mother Han was lying on the floor. He crouched down beside Mother Han and spoke something to the other line. Then, he turned to Han Yue Xiu and asked, "How long has she been like this?"

Han Yue Xiu shook her head. "I don't know. I returned from the grocery store and found her like this"

Song Yi quickly guessed that whatever happened to mother Han occurred during the time after he met her at the elevator.

After speaking on the phone about Mother Han's condition, Song Yi then turned to Han Yue Xiu. Seeing Han Yue Xiu's crying face, Song Yi was distressed. "The paramedics will be here shortly. Han Yue Xiu, you should stay calm."

Han Yue Xiu nodded even though she could not pay attention to anything that Song Yi said to her. Her mind was on her mother's condition. At this time, Han Yue Xiu did not know how or why did her mother become like this.

Moreover, when did she start taking so much medicine?

Even if she had questions for her mother right now, Han Yue Xiu could not do anything but to stare at her mother, wondering if she could do anything.

Han Yue Xiu finally snapped out of her trance when the paramedic arrived. She stood up at a corner as she watched them check on her mother's condition.

"Pack up anything important and go with them," Song Yi said. He lifted his hand to touch her head but stopped himself. "Han Yue Xiu, did you hear what I said?" He watched her nodded and continued. "I'll be right behind you alright?"

Once they arrived at the hospital, Han Yue Xiu was made to wait outside as the doctor checked on her mother. Han Yue Xiu sat down on the bench and sent a message to her father.

Just as she clicked on the send buŧŧon, Song Yi had appeared in front of her again.

"Your mother?"

Han Yue Xiu moved her gaze towards the Emergency Room. "The doctor's checking on her," she said. "Why are you here?"

"I couldn't possibly leave you alone at a time like this."

Han Yue Xiu averted Song Yi's gaze before she nodded. "Thank you." Then, closing her eyes, Han Yue Xiu started to imagine a different scenario.

What if she did not come back in time? What will happen to her mother then?

As she thought drifted towards the bags of medicine on her mother's table, Han Yue Xiu began to feel uneasy. Then, she started to blame herself. As her mother's daughter, how can she not know that her mother was unwell?

Han Yue Xiu did not know how long time has passed. During this time, the nurse had come in and out of the Emergency Room a few times, but fearing that she will delay them from doing their job, Han Yue Xiu could only sit still on the bench.

After exchanging a brief greet with Song Yi, Father Han then sat down next to her daughter.

Just like that, the three of them waited outside patiently.

When they saw a doctor was walking over to them, both father and daughter stood up abruptly.

Father Han exchanged a few words with the doctor before the doctor explained a few things about her mother's condition using some medical jargon that Han Yue Xiu could not understand.

But still, Han Yue Xiu could grasp a few things from this conversation between her father and the doctor.

Her mother had a heart problem, and her father was aware of it. It seemed like she was the only one who knew nothing about it.

Fortunately, Han Yue Xiu had arrived home in time and fed her mother with medicine before the paramedics arrived. Or else, there might be a chance that Han Yue Xiu will never see her mother again.

According to the doctor, Mother Han was supposed to undergo surgery a few weeks later. But due to her condition, the doctor recommended them to do this surgery as soon as possible.

It was after the doctor had left that Han Yue Xiu realized that something was not right.

At the thought that her mother wanted to keep her health a secret from her, Han Yue Xiu's expression turned dark.

No wonder she could sense that her parents were acting strangely...
