Chapter 42:Live and never let them die

Cynthinia fell to the ground clutching her chest where an inch wide hole sat. William ran over to her and lifted her head onto his shoulder to hold her up. Ripping a piece out of his shirt and pushing it onto the wound, William began to cry. The bleeding didn't stop and Cynthinia reached up to William's face. She wiped the tears away but tears of her own began to fall.

"It's ok William. I've completed my purpose in this life. I have no regrets." said Cynthinia in a weak voice.

"Come on! Just hang on for a little while longer. Then we can finish this battle and then all live happily together." pleaded William. James knelt down on the other side of Cynthinia and placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Thank you, Cynthinia." said James without emotion.

"You don't remember who I am ... yet you'll thank me." said Cynthinia with a smile. "I guess your ready for your inheritance." The symbol glowed on Cynthinia's chest and she pulled out the celestial weapon of fire. She placed it in James' hand and looked up at William.

"Please don't leave me as well." begged William. Cynthinia leaned forward and kissed William before falling back.

"I wonder if they have tea in the afterlife?" pondered Cynthinia. William placed her down on the ground and she disintegrated.

"You take the left endless amount and I'll take the right endless amount." said William wiping his tears. James looked at the sheathed sword in his hand then at Lucifer getting up from the ground.

"I have family matters I need to sort out first." said James. William gritted his teeth and screamed out. A huge cloud formed overhead and a surge of water came up from the ground. It swirled around him and was joined by the rain from above. Soon it began to take the shape like that of a giant with ice forming around it from the cold wind that came with the low pressure storm. William was suspended in the core of the water and ice giant holding his celestial weapon that started to glow bright white. Stepping forward in the giant, the water legs moved as well and soon William was punching the gods and goddesses on the ground and backhanding those in the air. Yet more and more opponents entered the battle field from the portals increasing the person difference more an more.

Lucifer finally got up and clutched his arm in pain. That last attack had done some serious damage and it would still take a few seconds for his healing to take care of it. Suddenly, James jabbed the sheathed end of the sword into Lucifer's stomach causing him to topple over. James kicked Lucifer in the stomach and chest over and over again until he picked him up by his throat. James put his celestial weapon away and made a small dagger out of his blue fire.

"A life for life. Wouldn't you say that's fair?" asked James. James dragged the dagger down Lucifer's face slicing through his left eye all the way down to his heart where he cut a small 'x' over it.

James smiled.

Lucifer grabbed the hand James held the knife in and pushed it away but James quickly thrust forward and stabbed Lucifer through the heart. James tossed Lucifer's limp body away into the distance and set his eyes on his next two targets.

Jack and Okubi.

James ran up and along the arm William's ice and water giant before jumping off it and over the wave of gods and goddesses coming out of the portals. James started walking towards Jack and Okubi and quickly pointed upwards sending blades out of the ground and through the portals. The portals distorted the collapsed in on themselves. Jack stepped forward with his scythe and became engulfed in a dark aura with sparks of red. James entered his patchy blue blitz form and brought out the still sheathed sword. Okubi's eyes widened in slight fear but Jack continued to advance towards James.

"Keep it together James. Just one fight using this power and it's over." repeated James in his head. He breathed in sharply and then slowly exhaled. Bringing the sword up and placing his right hand around the handle and his left on the sheath, James drew the weapon. The sheath cracked slightly before exploding with built up energy. James' patchy blue blitz form became whole again and James regained his horns and tail. The power coursed through James' body sending the blue fire aura high into the sky and parting the storm clouds above. James brought the blade round his body sending an arc of blue fire through what gods and goddesses were nearby and slicing them cleanly in half. Their parts disintegrated and in those few seconds half of the god army was wiped out. This didn't deter Jack and he quickened his advancements towards James.

James swiftly countered a swing from Jack's scythe. He swung back at him but Jack leaned back, dodged it, and sent a wave of dark energy at James. It surrounded James but he sent out a burst of energy that knocked Jack off his feet. James leaped into the air and brought his blade down on where Jack would've been but Jack had teleported behind him in the air. James spun on the spot, knocked Jack's scythe to the side with his sword, and grabbed his head with his free hand. James threw Jack to the side who grabbed James's hand and continued his momentum to slam James into the ground. James let go of his sword in surprise but it gravitated back to his hand. Jack took James' unguarded position to swing his scythe down on James. The blade went into James's chest. But James merely pulled it out with one hand and chopped off Jack's hand with his sword. Continuing to swing and remove limbs, James reduced Jack down to half his left arm and his right leg.

James grabbed Jack by his hair and brought his sword round above his head. Ready to remove Jack's head. James' body froze and stream of tears fell from his eyes. His face showed no emotion of indication of sadness other than the tears.

"You came back to the mortal realm using the ritual. It should of removed your emotions. Kill him and claim your place as a saviour!" encouraged Okubi. James tried to move but he couldn't. Jack's near-dead face watched James without sorrow or fear.

"This isn't you Jack. You don't deserve to die." said James and he dropped Jack. He turned to Okubi and pointed his sword at him. "You on the other hand, deserve to burn in hell!"

Okubi held out his hand and the scythe on the floor whizzed to his hand. He held it high up and auras of all colours exited the bodies of all the gods and goddesses and came down from the sky as Okubi absorbed all traces of the omni-god's power from the omni-crystal. The gods and goddesses collapsed in sudden exhaustion and Okubi body started to ripple and bulge as if there was something inside of him. Suddenly, he began to scream out in pain and his body was torn to shreds as a grey matter burst forth from inside him. The auras stopped flowing and the grey matter began to absorb the scythe and it's power while it took form. Six bulky legs sprouted connected to a large elongated sphere on a body and a round head that was featureless apart from Okubi's body in the middle and the scythe above him.

Suddenly, portals started to appear in all directions with around two seconds between each. The group finished off the last of the reconditioned gods and goddesses and ran over to join James.

"What's going on?!" asked Liam. A large gust of wind from Okubi forced them back a little.

"He's absorbed the power of the omni-god! Now there's two of them and the universe is collapsing. All those portals are inter-universal portals that lead to universes experiencing a similar fate to us." explained Rawley.

"How do you know all this?" asked William.

"It's happened before. We need to sever Okubi's connection to that thing by any means necessary!" said Rawley.

James walked forward and released his power in response to Okubi. A red fire joined his blue and the two burned together in harmony. Channelling his power into his left hand, James formed another sword. This sword was identical to his celestial weapon before Lucifer escaped from hell and caused the change in looks. Okubi stamped one of feet and the force felt like an earthquake.

"Let the final battle commence." said Abigail and the group charged at Okubi while in the distance a hooded figure watched as they had done many time before.
