Chapter 41:Clash of warriors

The group split up to cover different sections of the immortal onslaught. James and Liam headed straight for Lucifer and Edward while the others branched off left and right.

Lucifer lit up in blue flames and brought his right leg high and around towards James' head who blocked it with his forearm and punched out for Lucifer's head who caught the punch. James spun and swung Lucifer down to the floor who slammed a hand down, spun on it, and threw James away. James stabbed into the ground and came to a halt before throwing both swords. They spun through the air and crossed over and under each other while James chased after them igniting his hands with red fire. Lucifer kicked one sword away and caught the other but it exploded into a cloud of smoke. It cleared just in time for Lucifer to see James above him form a large, metre long blade and bring it down of Lucifer who jumped back to dodge the attack. James landed and split the blade into eight small blades that sat between his fingers. One by one, James threw the blades at Lucifer and advanced while Lucifer deflected and dodged each one. Finally, the two were just a metre away for each other. They both reached back and punched. A shock wave exploded from the collision as their fists hit each other.

Edward and Liam stood without movement and stared each other down. Suddenly, a swam of duplicates leaped out of nowhere and at Liam. Edward quickly shot most of them through the middle of the chest and Liam hit the head of his hammer into the ground sending spikes of rock piercing through the others.

"God of clones down. How was your post war trip?" asked Liam. The duplicates fell to the ground and disintegrated down to skeletons.

"Eh ... those guys tried to brainwash me but your punches toughened me up so it didn't work. How did you know I wasn't working for them?" asked Edward. He shot an arrow behind him without looking and a goddess fell to the ground and disintegrated.

"Your arrows normally go twice the speed than that first one. And you're not one to normally hold back." Edward chuckled a little and his bow's dark exterior crumbled away to unveil it's original self underneath.

"Five tangos, one o'clock through to four." Liam created two pillars that Edward jumped on. Firing two arrows at once he took out four of the goddesses running at them while Liam swung his hammer into the side of the last one sending them flying at Okubi and Jack. Jack made a shield and the body bounced off before disintegrating.

Izzy in her mech was swatting gods and goddesses left, right, and centre. Pressing a red, holographic button above her, two shoulder mounted launchers rose up and fired ten balls of metal each that ripped through gods and goddesses before coming to a stop and melting on the floor. Mathew jumped onto the top of Izzy's mech and held his hands out. The liquid metal rose and formed into skeletons with swords and shields.

"Hit it!" shouted Mathew. Izzy pressed a triangular button and turned a dial to the highest setting. Suddenly, 'spooky scary skeletons' started blaring out of Izzy's mech and Mathew began to command his skeleton troops. They stabbed, slashed, and blocked almost perfectly in time with the music.

"Why am I playing this song?!" called Izzy over the noise. Mathew smiled.

"Music helps me concentrate! It helps me find my rhythm!" called back Mathew. Suddenly, a cloud of cold air swept over Mathew's skeletons and they quickly solidified. The music stopped and a woman with cold mist flowing from her hands tapped on each skeleton as she past causing them to shatter.

"What! That's coladium two three four! It's practically impossible to freeze!" exclaimed Izzy.

"Foolish mortals! There's nothing I can't freeze!" laughed the woman. The shards of frozen metal rose and turned so that their pointed edge faced Mathew and Izzy.

"Freeze this Olaf!" shouted Ben and he hit her over the back of the head with a frozen bone from one of the skeletons. The shards fell to the ground and one fell into the woman's head causing her to disintegrate.

"Thanks Ben!" called Izzy. Ben put his thumb up and turned to run at the seemingly endless horde of gods and goddesses while throwing knifes in all kinds of manner.

"He's pretty cool." said Mathew reforming his troops.

"Nah. He's afraid of the dark." said Izzy and the two continued.

The battle was in full swing. Attacks were flying in all directions, punches and kicks were being dealt and received, and James and Lucifer's fight was still growing in power.

"This is a new technique I taught myself in the god realm. I like to call it 'kinetic rebound'. Basically turning the energy in my body into a spring sending any attack with movement back at the sender." said James. He stepped forward with his left leg and thrust forwards with his right arm sending the orb back with a pulse of energy that visibly came up from his feet, down from his head, and out through his hand. The ground was torn up and the now further empowered orb rocketed back to Lucifer. He couldn't react in time and was swept off his feet by the orb before being shot upwards by it exploding. James watched Lucifer rise further and further into the sky before slamming his hands together. Red and blue spikes poked up from the ground around him and James did an uppercut movement directed at Lucifer. The spikes shot out of the ground like energy missiles, surrounded Lucifer, and grouped in on him like two two hands gasping something in the air. The explosion was like a firework and out from the bottom Lucifer fell to the ground.

In his hand was one of the blue missiles. Which he empowered with his own blue fire and then fired it straight for Cynthinia. James burst into a red blitz and began running towards Cynthinia to try and intercept the missile. He made two new broad swords out of fire and slashed his way through the gods and goddesses in his way. William was with Cynthinia and created a gargantuan shield out of water that the missile carved through with ease and continued it trajectory towards Cynthinia by whizzing millimetres past William's head. James reached Cynthinia and sliced the missile in half.

It split into two pieces.

The two pieces slammed back together...

and slammed through Cynthinia's chest and into the ground behind her.
