Chapter 227: More Food!

If anything bothered Kyran after surviving this situation, it was the fact that sovereigns could enter other planes. Wouldn't that red-coated sovereign go to the Human Plane to get even?

"A sovereign of another plane could not freely enter a plane of another sovereign," True Void said as soon as he sensed Kyran's thoughts. "Only the plane that sovereign had conquered can be entered freely. Even if the sovereign of this plane forces his way into the Human Plane to look for trouble, his strength will get restricted because of the Human Plane's Sovereign."

"The human plane has its own sovereign?" Kyran wondered. But he was not really looking for an answer. His predecessor was a Sovereign, though he might not necessarily be the Human Plane's Sovereign. Besides, he was already dead.

Did this mean there was a new sovereign in their plane?

Nolan's face suddenly popped into Kyran's mind. He remembered Nolan telling him only one person had reached the higher realm, and that was his predecessor. However, there had been a few instances where Nolan never made things clear. One of which was how he evaded Kyran's question about him being a Magus... Could it be that he was...?

No. No. No. Impossible. Although Nolan's behavior was suspicious, too many factors pointed out that he was not. But what if...?

'Argh! Stop thinking about this for now! You're dying out there for goodness sake!' Kyran reprimanded himself.

'Focus!'

True Void cleared his throat. Knowing Kyran's thoughts, he prayed in his heart that his master would not find out he had tattled too much. Now, his master's successor had more things to think about because of him.

Finally, True Void decided to change the subject and said, "Right, right! Let's talk about that another time."

"Yeah, let's do that," Kyran agreed at once. Knowing too much at this point was not good for his current state. It felt as if his death was certain once he knew all of these things at this point.

Before adjusting his mindset, though, he remembered another person he had not met yet but was shrouded in mystery. Nolan only mentioned that person indirectly, but they never really talked about him or her once, the person who possessed the last jade ring.

Since Kyran had no way of getting his answers right now, he put everything at the back of his mind and added it to his mental list of things he had to find out. After that, he focused on removing the seal on True Void.

What happened in Kyran's sea of consciousness seemed to pass for quite some time, but in reality, only a few seconds had passed.

From when his shape-shifting plates shattered to the black lightning finally touching his outstretched hands, it all happened in under four seconds.

The lanky man watched everything happen with eyes glimmering in delight. To him, the young human's agonizing scream as the black lightning snaked down his arms had been one of the most exhilarating sounds he had heard for a few hundred years.

Yes. It had been such a long time.

The lanky man's blood boiled in anticipation awaiting the young man's next move. He did not believe that his attack would kill him. After all, he barely used 5% of his power. If he had exerted more than that, his most beloved plane would definitely start to crumble.

However, the lanky man had only started savoring the young human's scream when it died down as the black lightning completely consumed him. With a slight frown, the lanky man stared at the scene in front of him with a sudden vigilance reflected in his red eyes.

This kind of attack could not have destroyed the young human. The lanky man did not believe it would be easy to kill him.

What happened next appeared to flow in slow motion.

With a foreboding feeling, the lanky man immediately flew up into the air. The black veil completely blotted out the dark sky once again.

One.

The full brunt of the black lightning fell on the ground, shaking the whole area.

Two.

A massive explosion followed, destroying at least a four hundred-meter radius of the surroundings as the last traces of the black lightning vanished.

Ripples appeared around the lanky man as black mist rose from the ground outside the explosion.

Three.

Suddenly the spread of the explosion froze, and as if someone had pressed a rewind button, it started to shrink back to the center.

A huge grin replaced the frown on the lanky man's face. His red eyes glowed fiercely as he stared zealously at the location where the young human had been.

"Good! Good! This is how its supposed to be! Don't disappoint me!"

Even before the lanky man finished his sentence, the explosion below had now completely disappeared, revealing a huge crater on the ground. A glowing dark blue and purple orb floated in the middle of the crater.

On a closer look, the orb's surface was not smooth but had lines with a hexagon shape all over it.

Inside the orb, Kyran was on his knees, breathing heavily. His clothes had started to mend. However, his flesh could be seen underneath from the parts that had yet to recover. In some areas, his bones were even visible.

A pained look was seen on Kyran's blood-stained face.

The suffering he had endured from the black lightning attack was comparable to his experience with the Elixir. Both times, he felt his body had been burned and shredded to pieces. However, there was a distinct difference between both experiences. When he suffered from the Elixir's effect, he had lost consciousness during which his body was healing. Today, he had lost consciousness but managed to regain them, only to feel the excruciating pain again.

He managed to prevent himself from dying of blood loss, but the external and internal wounds he had were practically killing him.

[Focus on healing, I'll cover you.]

True Void's voice echoed in Kyran's mind.

Kyran could only nod once in response. Breathing was already torture, even more so if he tried to move.

WHOOSH!

Outside, one after another, the black mists around the lanky man converged into different-sized shapes. All of these shapes began to take the form of most of the mutated beasts that Kyran had encountered, albeit black mists swirled around their bodies.

"Let's start over."

The lanky man spread his arms, and the tattoos all over his body glowed. As if in response to his glowing runic tattoos, all of the black mist mutated beasts roared and charged over to the dark blue and purple orb.

[Bahaha! Charging valiantly like that doesn't scare me! Because I, True Void, only see you as treats~!]

The dark blue and purple orb shifted, and a few hundreds of its plates disengaged from it. Holes appeared on the orb from where these plates had vacated. But the remaining plates shifted as they filled these holes. The orb's size had shrunk, but it managed to maintain its shape.

The few hundreds of plates that left the orb reconnected, forming four triangular-shaped shields. All four shields covered the orb forming a pyramid, and their color turned a little transparent in the process.

All black mist mutated beasts closed in on the orb with a few with mouths wide opened as a ball of dark energy had started to form. Others had dark energy form on their claws, while the rest transformed their bodies into pure dark energies.

The beasts gathering a ball of dark energy in their mouth, released their attack toward the orb when they were about twenty meters away. The rest prepared to pounce on the orb after the others destroyed the shield.

When the ball of dark energies was only five meters away, the four triangular shields glowed light purple as a huge magic array appeared in front.

An incredible force erupted from the center of the magic array as all ball of dark energies was pulled in.

However, it did not only pull in the dark energies but everything and anything that came within a ten-meter radius.

One after another, the beasts within a ten-meter radius was sucked into the magic array.

The lanky man's eyes immediately narrowed upon seeing this. He did not look angry, though. On the contrary, his eyes glimmered in excitement.

"This! This power! You truly have returned! AHAHAHA!"

Maniacal laughter filled the air.

"Come! Show me more!"

The black mist around the lanky man thickened, and dark clouds converged outside the black veil above. The lanky man pointed one finger above, and a large red rune appeared on the black veil, just beneath the center of the converging dark clouds.

The dark clouds seeped into the black veil from the large red rune and spread over the sky, filling more than fifty thousand kilometers radius from where the lanky man stood.

Peals of lightning appeared within the dark clouds, and the temperature instantly dropped.

All of these changes happened in less than three seconds.

"Manus," the lanky man said.

In an instant, a huge red hand with bolts of lightning swirling all over it appeared from the dark clouds and went straight to the dark blue and purple orb.

Others would have despaired the moment they saw such a power-filled hand.

For True Void, though, it brought more joy.

[Yes! Yes! More food!]

Unfortunately for the lanky man, Kyran was the only one who could hear True Void's excitement.
