Chapter 228: Miscalculation

The huge magic array in front of the semi-transparent pyramid changed position. The void runes written around the magic array rotated as more runes extended outward, making the magic array's radius wider every second.

Crackling sounds filled the air as the giant red hand pressed down on the dark blue and purple orb.

The lanky man spread his arms with glowing red eyes as black mist shot out from every direction. The black mists flew toward the visible arm of the red hand, boosting its power. A visible change appeared on the red hand as it grew in size. It was as if the red hand was trying to outgrow the growing magic array above the dark blue and purple orb.

The wind that was practically non-existent in this plane erupted. It surged with great intensity from under the giant red hand as it rapidly descended toward the dark blue and purple orb. Ripples appeared in the surroundings as crackling sounds filled the air.

The giant red hand slammed into the magic array, and a massive shockwave erupted in the air.

BOOM!

CRACKLE!

Crackling sounds followed as the magic array resisted the red hand pressing down on it.

[BAHAHAHA! YES! YES! Thank you for the feast!]

True Void's gleeful cheer echoed in Kyran's head. Dark purple energy formed at the center of the magic array that was constantly rotating and expanding.

FWIP!

Half a second later, a huge amount of dark purple energy flashed through from the center of the magic array, instantly piercing the palm of the red hand. A massive vortex formed around the hole that appeared in the red hand. Residues of the dark purple energy mixed with the vortex, and the hole expanded, obliterating the rest of the red hand.

The direction of the vortex was not upward but downward, slowly getting sucked into the center of the magic array.

A guttural bellow reverberated above that shook not only the sky but also the ground below. Its intensity affected not only the area in which the black veil had covered but almost the entire plane.

Web-like cracks formed above, spreading all over the dark sky; it looked like the sky would crumble any minute. The forearm of the red hand slowly ascended as if trying to salvage what was left of its hand. However, the dark purple vortex seemed adamant on sucking every last bit of the red hand as the magic array grew once more, strengthening the vortex's suction ability.

Every creature on the plane who heard the bellow as well as seen the cracks in the sky immediately prostrated themselves on the ground as if in worship. They knew only one person who could shake the whole plane like this, and it was the Sovereign of Ruin.

It had been a while since they had witnessed his anger, and they all feared for their lives. Because the last time he was angered, he obliterated more than half of all living creatures in the world.

While every creature in the plane prostrated themselves to soothe the anger of the Sovereign of Ruin, the subject of their worship was watching the severed red hand.

The Sovereign of Ruin was other than the lanky mank in the long red coat.

When the dark purple energy pierced through the red hand he had summoned, a mixture of red with gold blood trickled down the side of his lips. His eyes glistened not with anger but with delight.

The red hand he had summoned was actually the hand of one of his Seven Sentries.

Another reason a sovereign was feared and able to conquer planes was their ability to create their own Guardians. As the Sovereign of Ruin, the lanky man had created seven which he called The Seven Sentries. Right now, the hand he had summoned belonged to the weakest among the Seven Sentries. But it did not matter since any of his sentries could destroy a plane if they appeared in the flesh.

For this reason, the lanky man only summoned the weakest sentry's hand to avoid inadvertently destroying his beloved plane. He also used only about 5% of his power to morph it into its original size.

However, it was still not enough to match the power output from the young human's weird-looking item.

To be honest, the lanky man was unsure what kind of item the young human possessed. All he knew was it smelled like blood from one of the rarest mutated beasts of this plane.

But the weird-looking item was not the reason why he was delighted.

The lanky man was delighted by the young human's power output. To him, it was indeed the most annoying ability of 'that human.' The first human he had met, who was only a pseudo-Sovereign, could ignore the restrictions placed on other sovereigns entering a plane of another sovereign.

Clearly, the young human had that human's power. But the lanky man was aware that all those who died would not retain their abilities once they returned. At most, they had the same type of power and aura.

For the young human to also retain 'that human's' most annoying ability truly delighted the lanky man. His decision not to instantly kill the young human earlier had been the right choice.

'Your level is still a far cry from your past self,' the lanky man thought. 'As such, I will only play with you. But before that, I need to confirm something.'

His lips turned up into a wide grin filled with malice as he flew down, leveling himself with the same height as the dark blue and purple orb.

As he descended, his long red coat whipped behind him. He spread out his arms to the

Countless same-sized red rings appeared on the lanky man's arms. The red rings extended out, forming a massive circle outline enclosing the dark blue and purple orb. As these red rings connected, black and red lightning bolts shot out from the lanky man's hands and snaked inside the rings, connecting at the end.

As soon as the black and red lightning bolts connected, the countless red rings glowed and rotated at an incredible speed.

More cracks appeared in the sky and dark clouds where the red hand had descended slowly seeped back to the huge red rune on the black veil. As the dark clouds retreated, the red hand also started to vanish.

[No! No! Wait! I'm not finished eating yet!]

True Void complained, and Kyran, who had been silently watching everything from inside the orb while trying to heal his body, could not help but mentally scratch his head.

If True Void stopped talking, he actually appeared 'cool' in Kyran's opinion.

True Void had been controlling the shape-shifting plates all this time. Kyran, who created the plates to form into different offensive or defensive weapons or barriers, was shocked at how True Void used the plates. It was not that Kyran did not think of using the plates the same way True Void had, but he knew doing so would require a significant amount of magic energy which he did not have. Even if Kyran did have a vast amount of magic energy, he was unsure if his central core would be able to handle the strain.

It dawned on Kyran just how deep True Void's 'stomach' was. No wonder he needed a considerable amount of magic energy. The black lightning that could kill Kyran was eaten instantly, and yet True Void was not satisfied. Even the black mist mutated beasts were only 'treats' to him.

Kyran wondered if his predecessor named him True Void because of his bottomless appetite, comparable to the void. Regardless of his predecessor's reason, Kyran believed the ability to 'eat' energies was not True Void's only ability. There were more that he could not fully utilize since he was not using his real body.

[Void Halfling!]

Kyran's brow made an involuntary twitch from how True Void called him.

[The red-coated sovereign is preparing something big, have you healed enough yet?]

Kyran's brow furrowed at once upon hearing his warning. He kept his eyes on the red-coated man hovering a few hundred meters away from them while he confirmed his body's condition.

"About 60%," Kyran replied.

Using the magic energy that True Void shared with him, Kyran was able to circulate the dragon blood in his veins to recover most of his flesh. At the moment, all his exposed bones were already covered after his flesh regenerated. His internal organs were no longer bleeding, although they were still damaged. Most of his skin had also regenerated. However, his hands and arms were still underway as his flesh had yet to regenerate fully.

[Too slow! Too slow!]

Kyran could almost imagine True Void in his furball form, hopping around frantically.

"I'm trying. But its my first time doing this without the Regis Technique."

[Argh! He's going to pull something really big! This is bad! This is bad!]

Before Kyran could reply, the huge red rune above grew as the cracks on the sky crumbled, revealing a star-filled night sky.

The lanky man grabbed the bolts of lightning he had summoned, and the glowing red rings changed into countless pillars that shot up the sky as well as down the ground. It surrounded the whole area with the dark blue and purple orb at the center.

Ripples formed above the star-filled night sky as a circular door formed. The star-filled sky looked like the circular door's design. A vast amount of energy filled the air as the doors slowly slid open, and cold dark mist seeped out from the small opening.

[Argh! I'll cover your body first! Warp out fast!]

The shape-shifting plates that formed the orb immediately moved. It shrunk in size and covered Kyran's whole body like the Void Armor, except this time, his head was also covered, and the armor itself was bigger and looked sturdier.

[Let's go! Let's go!]

Even as True Void had spoken, Kyran was already circulating his magic energy, preparing to warp.

The huge magic array True Void had summoned disappeared as the semi-transparent pyramid decreased in size, still protectively surrounding Kyran.

Kyran's eyes glowed reddish-purple as he activated his warp ability, focusing on the red-blood tower in the distance.

At that exact moment, the man said, "Ruin."

The circular door finally burst open, and a blinding red light slowly descended, turning everything it touched into a blood-red color.

[Go! Go!]

True Void shouted.

However.

Kyran's scalp had gotten numb after realizing a grave problem.

The red light crept down on them as he said,  "I can't warp!"

[What?]
