62 The Truth

"I would say I have not been unfair to you in any way" To his response, Jaime snapped and grabbed him by the collar.

"Are fucking kidding me!" She was angry beyond measure but this was the truth. Whether she liked it or not he did not really think that he was unfair to her in any way.

"Let me go then we will continue. You don't want to make a scene do you?" Jaime eased her grasp with a grunt.

"Okay then, talk. I am wondering how will you dig yourself out of this mess." Her voice was covered in sarcasm. She did not really think that anything he would say change her mind. She just wanted to see him flail and make an unnecessary effort.

"What mess? I have already been clear about what kind of person I was from day one. Though I have to admit, the conman example suits me perfectly. I think I might use that in the future.

Let's make things clear, yes I outsmarted the deities and deceived my parents; but I wouldn't have deceived my parents if not for you. When it comes to manipulating you though I have not done such a thing." Linri himself was getting agitated. Before coming here he never would have thought he would be interrogated like this. Especially when he was innocent.

"After all, I have said how can you even deny it? Your face must be thicker than an elephant, as expected of a conman." Jaime sneered at his words.

"Really? You think that I manipulated you? Played with you like a puppet? Tell me then what the hell do I have to gain from that?

I won't deny it, If I wanted to that is something I could have really done but I never really hid it in the first place. I had something to gain from conning the deities, which is my freedom. I had something to gain from deceiving my parents which was creating a safe home for you.

Tell me then, what the hell do I gain for deceiving you? Your heart? Don't make me laugh, I have a girlfriend back home and if it was my objective I would have acted on it long ago. Your ability? You don't even have any ability, you can't fight and if anything you would be a burden in dangerous situations. Your knowledge? You are as clueless as I am.

According to you, I am conman but a conman never really does something without benefits. Till now I did not gain a single thing from you and I won't gain one in the future either." Jaime found it had to answer this question. Linri did not really have anything to gain from manipulating him. She bit her lower lip and finally asked the question that was plaguing her mind.

"Then why did you do it?" Linri became confused.

"What do you mean why?"

"Why did you say all those things to me back at the park?" Something flashed in Linri's head. He had finally figured out what was going on. He could not help but give out a chuckle.

"Is that what this is about? Back then when we were talking to Brie you turned your back against me. You actually made me feel like I was used, someone that you could throw away. I was disappointed in you because I thought that you were the Spark I knew from our PMs, someone cheerful, happy and a little silly but you throwing me away for someone you did not even meet before kinda hurt me. So I hurt you back with my words. What's wrong with that? I 'am' a petty person. I could have told you in a more gentle way but I didn't because I wanted to hurt you like you did.

I guess I haven't thought about how it might have affected the future. Right now you actually want me to be a bad guy so that you would feel better. You want what you said to be the truth so that it would be the evil plot of some 'conman'. You could say yourself that you did not do anything wrong.

I am sorry to say this but that was no plot to somehow manipulate you and make my puppet. That was just the genuine reaction of a friend who was hurt by you. Admittedly that friend has a way with his words and can make you feel like shit but that's the plain old truth." Linri's irritation was gone and he spoke calmly. This was just Jaime wanting to justify her own action. To be honest she was extremely childish. She wanted to feel good about herself so she made the other guy the bad guy. At the same time she was impressive most of the things she said about with were the truth and if he really had a reason, he could have actually done those actions to control her.

Jaime was looking dazed, what he said seemed logical? Does that mean this was all in her head? Was she still as bad as she was back then without even changing a little? She really was a horrible person, she called Linri selfish and egotistical but maybe she was the one.

*Snap*

A sudden sound of a finger snap pulled her back to the reality, away from her thoughts. She looked at the person in front of her. Wondering why he suddenly did that? Seeming to read her mind Linri answered her.

"What? You seemed like you were about to cry again so I had to distract you. I don't have tissues with me this time and there is no way in hell I will allow you to get snot all over me." Linri spoke with obvious sarcasm in his tone. He was basically mocking her. Jaime hit Linri's head without hesitation. The fist carried all her frustrations from before. Maybe he was right, he really had a way with words. Maybe she just wanted to hurt him back. So since she could not hurt him emotionally, physical pain was the next best thing.

"Ouch! That was uncalled for!"
