63 The Meaning of Life

The next day came

Linri woke up from his 'dream' as usual, at first it was pretty taxing on his mind but ever since what happened at the temple dying did not bother him much. Still, this was a problem because his brain was losing touch with the reality. If the 'dream' did not stop there was no way that he could get back his danger sense back.

After his morning training with Arkady, Linri went back to his room. It was finally time for putting one of his plans into action but first, he needed to contact someone. The problem was he did not remember how to contact him.

It had been more than 2 years since the club closed so it was not like he could remember everything. What made the matters worse however was the fact that this was just a small detail in one of the characters' biography. Even now the only reason he had somewhat of a recollection of that was because he had found it funny and the joke had stuck with him.

That was it!

Because of the joke he just thought of Linri managed to remember the name of the web page. He immediately started to open the dark web browser in his computer and typed in the name of the website.

www.galaxyguide.onion

His screen went black, and a single question appeared on his screen.

'What is the meaning of life?'

Linri immediately put down the answer '42'

Even when putting it he had a slight smile on his face. He could not help it for a literature geek like him this joke was simply too funny. This was a reference to one of his favourite books of all time. The book was set in a future where humanity became so advanced that they created a computer that could calculate anything. They had basically created an omniscient god, and that was only to ask a single question: The meaning of life. The computer had given told them that it would take 2048 years 4 months and 23 days to answer this question.

So humanity had waited, for more than two millennia. Every single being in the galaxy was excited. They were finally going to get an answer to the question which plagued the mind of countless life forms. When the fated day finally arrived there was a festive mood throughout the whole galaxy.

The computer was projected onto a big screen in each and every planet. The countdown reached zero and two of the original scientists' descendants appeared on the screen. They were here to ask the question and since their ancestors had died long ago it was their honour to ask it.

Once they asked the same question the computer gave them only a single answer 42 and started laughing. Basically, it had played a joke to the whole universe.

This part was one of the most memorable parts about the book to him. Apparently, Swindler18, creator of the character he was about to speak, thought so as well and that was why he added this as a sort of Easter egg.

When he put down the answer 42 and sent it his screen went black once more and a chat box appeared.

'How can I help you today?'

Linri had already repeated the conversation he might have with 'him' so he did not hesitate to type the following.

'You can not because we are the in the same trade'

'Then why did you contact me?'

'I have a big plan but I am currently lacking in funds so I thought you might want to sponsor me. Also, I want you to join the operation yourself, I need a hacker as skilled as you. The payment will be two crucial pieces of information even you don't know. You will get them after the mission. Before you shut me down let me give you a hint about one of them, 18246 is alive. If you want to go through with it I am pretty sure you can find me.'

After sending the last message Linri closed down the chat box and shut down his computer. Now the only thing he had to do was wait. The bait he cast for the character was too big for it to ignore. He must be doing a background check on him right about now.

Linri did not know if he could find out about his supernatural heritage but not being able to find anything else might drive him crazy. Eventually, he was going to contact him.

The person Linri just spoke was Hayato an ability user same age as him. He only had a name but did not have a surname. He was the victim of another super soldier program, the country that created him was Hanawa.

His ability was 'Nanobots' in other words his body hosted a countless number of nanobots that were telepathically connected to him and only obeyed Hayato. He was the only successful experiment but Hanawa was not satisfied with only a single super soldier with sub-par ability. That was why they had gone to another route.

They had cloned him countless times hoping to recreate the success of Hayato. The only problem was none of the clones were able to bond with nanobots like Hayato. So they did the most logical thing. They used them as a special force in under the table operations. The clone named 18246 became Hayato's best friend, his brother even, during this time. Though unfortunately, it was not long before 18246 or shortly Six died in one of the missions.

Seeing himself dying over and over again Hayato decided to escape by faking his own death and he had succeeded. The only problem was Six had thought the same thing long before he did. Six had planned to fake his own death and then save Hayato and escape together. Not knowing this Hayato had done the same thing so now they had both thought the other one was dead. Later on, they would meet once again at Autumnfall High school by luck.

Well that was the best story Swindler18 could come up with, basically, he wanted to play both an attribute character and an ability user. The result was this crappy background.

Now that he was done with Hayato, it was time for him to move to the second phase of his plan.
