Chapter 257 - Bloody Surprise-III

The witchess screamed in pain, letting go of her weapons in shock as the pain came on her stomach. She looked down to Seoyeon who had pulled a different flask of potion and threw it on her which she hid on her left hand while walking to return the witchess's handshake.

"I was told not to shake hands by stranger," Seoyeon smiled, pulling another flask and this time taking the advantage of the witchess being occupied with her pain, she threw the flask to her head, bringing a lighter from her pocket to then threw it at the witchess's head. Instantly a fire breaks out and Seoyeon kicked the blades as far as possible before leaving the place toward Min Beomgyu who was awed by her smooth movements.

"I didn't know you could fight," said the white witch once Seoyeon appeared.

"I learned self defense since childhood to protect myself," because she knew how she was alone in this world, without a family and there was only herself who she could trust when it come to protecting her life. The white witch only nod at this, looking interested. Seoyeon looked at him, remembering how he had been standing like a statue during the time she fend off the witchess. "I saw you from afar, it would have been easier to defeat her if you could lend me a help."

Min Beomgyu shook his head as if to defend his action, "This is a misunderstanding. I wasn't ignoring you. When I came by you were already offered by the witch to work with them and even agreed with her words, I don't think at that time anyone in my position would save you, rather I was afraid that you'll kill me too."

"That's nonsense, it will never happen," she assured, perhaps because the white witch knew about her parents that he had doubt about her willing to work with her kinsfolk. "I know what they are doing is not right and it would never be right," Seoyeon didn't blame Min Beomgyu as it only proof how impressive her acting was that it could fool him to believe she wanted to work with the black witch. "The fire is made out of potion it shouldn't extinguish until she breathed her last breath."

She then looked around, searching for the second person who was supposed to be with him. Concern came on Seoyeon's face, "Where is Yu Sheen, I don't see him?"

"He is upstairs," Min Beomgyu said and Seoyeon decided not to wait there. While she was fighting the dark witchess, she noticed groups of people escaping from the second floor, and with the loud noise that bolted suddenly, she gathered there were two trespasser with one on the first floor and the other second floor.

"We should go," and they went upstairs using the same staircase Min Beomgyu had been pushed off from. The second floor was much more worse than the first floor. There were man-made dents all over the floor and walls, Seoyeon noted how there were blood splatters on the walls, bodies that were chopped in a gruesome way that would leave anyone in continuous nightmares, and the smudge of blood on the floor.

They quickly left to search toward all places they could find. When Seoyeon came to meet Min Beomgyu again after briefly separating on their own ways to find clues where Yu Sheen could have went.

The house is uselessly big, thought Seoyeon in her mind. She didn't want to be too late where the half vampire had sprawled lifelessly on the ground. While running, she noticed a pair of eyes have been watching her. It wasn't the enemy rather it was Min Beomgyu. Seoyeon wondered if something more terrible than this happen which she prayed to God wouldn't happen. "Is there anything out of place?"

"Are you not scared, Miss Seoyeon?" question the white witch who continued to follow her closely from behind.

They had no time to spare for chit chat, but Seoyeon didn't expect the question to come from the white witch that she was surprised. She asked herself why the witch asked her and replied, "Very," the answer came from the deepest part of her heart which was very weary at the moment with how the witches suddenly came to Che Hara's house. "Everything in this house scares me," and if anyone took a look they would have noticed her hands were trembling.

If Jung Hwa was here, it would give her heart a better support that would make her feel better at ease, though Seoyeon to herself. But he wasn't, and Seoyeon didn't want to become a damsel in distress waiting for anyone to help her, because she knew there would be most of the time she would need her own help. Jung Hwa also needed her help, Seoyeon's last intention was to die here in the hand of the witchess, leaving Jung Hwa without the words she wanted to told him.

It come slowly to her that time should be treasured. Not everyone knew when they were going to die, and there were many things best said than not as humans would never be able to guess Heaven's fickle future. When there are things you wish to say to the people close with you, no matter how hard it was, rather than regretting saying it earlier was always better than never. Seoyeon didn't continue the rest of her words because she felt it was needed as a promise, so even in a pinch, they'll remember their promise and come back alive no matter what the cost was.

The white witch nodded, "You seemed to be fearless facing the witchess earlier, I thought you were like me, a person who have never killed anyone."

Seoyeon turned her had for a moment, a small smile adorned her face where a strand of her hair had stuck to her face, "It was my first time. I am scared but I don't want to die. I need to be alive," she replied with an honest reality.

During the time in the Slumber Cemetery, she wasn't able to do anything that only cause more damage for Jung Hwa to take. The night after, Seoyeon quickly reflect on her action that day before, steeling her heart so that at the most crucial time she wouldn't be dumbstruck by the scene happening across her, and move to protect herself.

Min Beomgyu nodded, agreeing to her opinion without judging as there would no one at her place who had the power to defend wouldn't do what she did and let themselves be killed. He asked the question not because he found how prepared sepyeon to be weird, instead just he was awed with respect at his swift and quick witted seoyeon was to have the witchess drew down her guard, never expecting to be attacked. Now that he knew despite her brave act, she was still scared like any normal woman out there, he did not pry any further.

As they were about to turn to a corner after reaching the end of a long hallway where they spotted drawers, closet, and tables thrown over to the walls and ground, causing a few tables going through the walls, a loud scream echoed from a far hallway. The screaming belong to a single person, but the sound was hoarse that prevent Seoyeon to know whose voice it belonged to. Fortunately, the sound was distinct enough for both her and Min Beomgyu to know where it came from.

They looked at each other, sending glances before speeding up toward where it sounded, hoping the scream didn't come from the half vampire.
