Chapter 241 - Court’s Decision-I

After the turn the first witness made, it was the turn of Che Hara. It appeared that the Associates would like to judge Jung Hwa for the last and Seoyeon didn't know what she felt about it. Her palms had turn sweaty in a count of few minutes and she prayed that everything would go well.

Unlike her, Jung Hwa seemed to be in a less worrying state than her. He was calm and even had the chance to wave his hand slightly towards her. Thus, Seoyeon believe he had his own idea of getting released and this calmed her mind for a little.

Che Hara, who was next to be asked for question came forward. Unlike the earlier witness, there was no trace of worry. Seoyeon wondered how could the woman lied without getting cold feet or guilty. During the first time they met, she noticed her affection toward Jung Hwa. Was it normal in vampires's society to blame others as the killer and make false witness. Unless Che Hara was the true killer, Seoyeon can't understand why she would want him to be hold accountable for something he didn't do.

"Miss Hara, could you tell us what you saw that day?" The first judge asked, who had a tone less stricter than the time he had questioned the first witness.

Chung Gon who was beside Seoyeon snickered and commented, "This judge is an old friend of Che Hara's father."

Seoyeon also noticed the tone that used by the judge that was better than before. "Wouldn't this affect the judgement?"

"It would maybe and it isn't fair, but speaking about unfair, Jung Hwa's side was also unfair. Because see there, the Head Associate is his grandfather's friend. Although unlike this judge, Mr. Gwe Jeoknim is a man who set his life to follow the rule. He wouldn't do things impartially."

That only made more worries to Seoyeon's weary heart. She closely heard what Che Hara had to say, and the lies she forged, "That night I saw Mr. Chu and Mr. Jung fought near the cemetery. I didn't heard what the two had to sayn but in a count of minutes, the air between them turn terse. T...Then that happened," whispered the woman in fear, her acting was better than Seoyeon thought because she had accurately portrayed a person who had seen a murder happen, as though she indeed saw it happen.

Che Hara wiped her tears that spilt on her cheeks, with a shaky voice she continued, "Mr. Chu seemed unhappy so he raised his hand, he demanded in anger and spoke about his hand. Then in a blink of an eye, Mr. Jung struck his hand to his chest...That is all that I saw because I quickly left the place."

Che Hara had seen how Chu Sunji had died on the witchess's hand, which why her witness sounded very close to the truth. Knowing that most people was on her side, Che Hara who was once worried, now was confident. For the sake of her family she had to do this, thought Che Hara. She looked a little toward Jung Hwa, who she hadn't spare a glance earlier, finding him smiling. The grin had unnerved her for a moment, but at this point she told herself she hold the upper hand.

"It must have been hard for you to remember what took place that night, thank you miss Che." It was the same judge who had spoken first that spoke.

Che Hara was about to thank the man, for he had helped to gather more people to her side when a voice came from the side, "Or perhaps it wasn't that hard for her to recollect the time of the murder because at that time the killer wasn't Mr. Jung."

Che Hara's heart thud like drum, the man who spoke was the second judge beside the first one, "Excuse me?" she let out a gasp from her breathing that rattled, feeling her throat going dry.

The first judge turned to the one who had spoken, "What do you mean, Mr. Mu? We are here not to suspect the witness, are we? Unless you are on that side."

"That is an accusation, Mr. Du." It wasn't Mr. Mu who spoke but Lee Young from the other side. When he spoke, the two men was startled as though they were mouses who had been scared by a cat's snarl. "We are all here to be fair with our judgement. If one is find out to be trying to protect the witness or the defendant. We will not let them leave this room alive." His words were clear to put place Mr. Du as he knew what the man had been doing. "We cannot eliminate every possibility. That day other than Mr. Jung who hold suspicious behavior, we cannot forget that Miss Che had sneaked into the Associate's building despite knowing that it was against the law the Associates had. Please proceed to the questioning."

"Why were you there in the building, Miss Che?"

Che Hara didn't prepare the answer to this question. It wasn't because she doesn't know that this question would be ask, but the night before, she had tried to find reasons that was plausible, yet nothing could pass to her mind. She had to spin a lie in a spur of the moment, which she often did, but this time if her lies was just the least believable, the noose that had hung to her neck after the day she witness Chu Sunji's death would tightened for her death.

She used the chance to pull any suspicions on her further from her side, no matter what lies she had to do. The witchess wished for Jung Hwa to die or not it would be her life and her family's life on danger. But currently, she was having not enough hand to protect herself. "That night I didn't know how I stayed longer in the building that I intended either."

The judge on the far left raised and

eyebrow, like all the people in the courtroom did upon her ambiguous response, "What do you mean?"

Che Hara casted her eyes nervously, she then replied in a statement that shook the court....
