Chapter 80 - Hold My Hands-IV

A hummed rang like bells in the elevator. Was it that hard for him to answer her? Usually when someone had asked the question they will easily reply with 'no' and took their question as a meaning not to continue stare at the person's face. But instead of stopping his stare, it instead became fiercer.

"I can't see well with only one side of your face." Jung Hwa lifted her chin, his movement was fast and smooth that Seoyeon looked at him alarmed with her eyes widened.

"What are you doing?" What was he doing?! This was the time where he should have said 'no' and look away from her face! But instead he had grabbed her face lifting to see her expression which made it worse as she was trying to avoid looking at his eyes directly. Though the hold was light and gentle, Seoyeon felt the distance they shared was too close that if she stood on her toes, their lips would brush against each other.

"You asked me if there is something on your face and now I'm checking if there are any." Jung replied feigning a clueless look on his face even when he knows what she was thinking.

Jung Hwa could hear without missing any of her racing heartbeat clapping on her chest. Her face was red and he could almost read her like an open book she was. When he leaned forward and their nose touch, Seoyeon retreated her steps with his hand still holding her chin.

"There isn't any!" she opposed him who continued to move forward.

"How do you know? There isn't any mirror here for you to see your own face. Quiet down now, I will see it properly." his whisper touched her lips, tickling her that made her toes curl.

"I know! After all this is my own face! Let my face-"

"Scaredy-cat Seoyeon, your heart is so loud that it sound very much like a drum used before a festival. Tell me what are you thinking?" When he saw her eyes darting around trying to find a place where she could escape only to find that there was no where left for her to run which in the end she had no choice but to stare at back to his eyes, Jung Hwa found her to be cute and thought passing the invitation to tease her would be a shame to him.

"I'm not thinking or anything, mister Jung." Seoyeon held on her ground, refusing to play to his tune and constrain her heart before thumping again under his curious eyes that held a hint of red shadows.

"Really?" he narrowed his eyes when a sound of ding echoed, the elevator door opened and Seoyeon took the opportunity to step back and move her face from his hands. She had wanted to create distance between them but people had rushed into the elevator, pushing her to the back and she had to squeeze beside him.

Her heart was busy with palpitation that Seoyeon had forgot of her fear inside the elevator but now with the many people had entered the cramped elevator room, she felt squeezed out of air and a part of her felt that her sight which was blocked with people to be dark.

But her fear of cramped and dark place started at that time, the time when she almost died inside the old storage house where she would often be locked and left at in the orphanage out of the sudden fire.

Jung Hwa thought her heart raises was normal after what he did but then he noticed how the heartbeat was unable and looking on his left side, he saw Han Seoyeon keeping her eyes down on the floor with a lost look. Her eyes were hazy as if she was dozing off that he would have took her as tired if it wasn't for the pale complexion she had on her face.

"The dolphin doll isn't that bad, right?" Han Seoyeon snapped out of her mind, she looked up seeing his grin. "I wanted to buy a cat keychain for you as it seemed to suit you very much but as expected the Aquarium doesn't have that. Hm, call the aquarium to make their new mascot as cats with that we can have a cat keychain too." His body inclined back to the wall to have her eyes and attention at him.

"You seem to be very fond of cats." she said, feeling the heavy feeling in her heart somewhat lifted up when he had talked to her.

"I do. They are cute, adorable, and their way of acting as if they don't care about anyone when in truth they are very affectionate." his eyes were staring deeply to her as if he was describing not of the cat but her. "There will be a day where it would snuggle on your legs masking for attention, adorable, isn't it?"

She rose her brows partly out of curiosity, she asked, "Have you ever had a cat before?"

"I did. As a child I have many things and experience many things far more than any other children in this world." There it was his tag of narcissism but Seoyeon recall that he didn't know of a few things such as the ticket device placed in front of the aquarium and rather doubted his words a little.

"Of course, yes you are." she faked a smile.

"That doesn't sound sincere." Jung Hwa snipped at her deadpanned tone.

The part of him where he was very perceptive to other's feeling wasn't good for the people he was talking against, thought Seoyeon but from seeing him for few weeks, she noticed that Jung Hwa was the type of person who could see through other people's intention as they talk, leaving him to a game where he would toy with the person's words. A technique that perhaps he have worked on naturally. But like now, his perceptiveness was a hindrance to her as she wouldn't be able to hide anything from him.. Such as what she thought while gazing back at him or how her heart was tied close.
