63 Dodge, Duck and Dive!

[ What exactly have I done for him to be so angry at me? ]

Thoughts began to rush in my head about my next course of action. I sat on the bed that had suddenly seemed very uncomfortable. Sora, although I had not known him that long was someone I thought I got along with very well.

[ So why does he want to kill me? ]

I checked outside of my window as saw he was nowhere to be found. My body flinched as I head some sounds going from the room next to me. There were some shuffling steps followed by a loud crash.

[ I don't think I can stay here anymore ]

I began to panic wondering what I should do next.

[ Should I abandon Sora? Ask him why? Wait I can't do that!]

As if he would believe that I can tell what he feels about me due to a magical device on my wrist. I sighed solemly as I thought about my options. Should I just leave without even finding out why he hated me so much?

Suddenly my door slammed open and someone I did not expect to see appeared right in front of me.

" Yuki! We have to go now! The building is surrounded" Ren said with blood rolling down his arms.

" W..hat are you doing here!?!" I responded incredulously.

" Have you been following me?!" I said looking at Ren.

" Yuki.... this is not the time. We have to leave, there are even too many for Ki and myself" Ren replied.

" Ki is here too?" I said looking around.

" Mm she is currently fighting, We have to go!" Ren said with more urgency.

I looked out the window without standing near it and peeked out. Everything looked the same as usual. If I didn't see the blood on Ren's arm I would not have believed him. I stopped asking questions and packed my bag quickly.

I took one last look at the room before following behind Ren with Kibbles in my arms. Ren had wrapped his arms around me for protection. It felt strange to be relying on the person that I had been so cruel to recently but I had no other option.

We had just made it outside when an arrow bearly missed us.

" Yuki we have to run!" Ren said as he grabbed my arm.

My lungs began to fill with air as I struggled to keep up with Ren who had grabbed my hand to propel me forward. Kibbles was in one arm, Ren was holding the other and my bag was hitting my back as I panted.

We dodged, ducked and weaved through side streets and back alleys trying to make our way to the town's exit. I looked up to see a few figures in black running on the rooftop to catch up to us.

I was honestly frightened.

" Huff Huff... Where is Ki" I panted to Ren who had an angry look on his face.

" Doing her duty! Quick talking and pace your breathing" Ren replied in a serious tone.

[ Crap! ]

When Ren said we were surrounded he wasn't kidding.

[Did Sora plan all of this from the start?]

I looked ahead to see more random barrels in the alleyway.

[ Kibbles shoot fire at them as we jump over ]

" I will get the job done," Kibbles said as he moved under my arm.

Ren had jumped over the barrels followed by myself and followed by a fireball from Kibble's mouth. The assassins behind us didn't even shout as they jumped through the fire singing their clothes.

[ Do they have a death wish?! ]

Luckily there were no innocent people in the alleyways and the flames wouldn't set the clay buildings on fire. I was just disheartened to know that they would likely follow us everywhere.

[ Was this where I died?! ]

" Yuki, pull your head together, We need to keep running if you slow down we both die" Ren replied.

" Leave me here and escape" I replied as I looked at Rens back. He turned back and glared at me angrily.

" Who the heck do you think I am Yuki? Keep that nonsense to yourself and keep running. As if I would leave a friend behind!!" Ren replied resolutely.

[ A friend.. He still thinks of me as a friend. ]

Whoosh!

A dart flew past my face and landed on Ren's shoulder digging right into his amour.

" Ahhh!" Ren grimaced in pain.

He used his free hand to pull the dart out and look at it.

" Not good it's poison," Ren said quietly to himself.

We turned a corner and reached a dead end.

[ What do we do, what do we do?]

I looked around to see the covered faced of the people who had been chasing us. They looked at us before one of them uncovered their face.

I didn't want to believe it but there he was.. Sora.

" Are you surprised Yuki?" Sora said with a smile as he stepped forward.

" It was cute of you to lie about who you were, You really underestimated me," Sora said as he chucked.

" If it makes you feel any better I really do like you as a person. It was a real pity that your family had to butcher my family while your Tama knights personally tortured any humanity I had left out of me." Sora looked down and drew his weapon.

" What do you mean!?" I replied weakly staring at the boy I thought I knew.

" Are you a brain dead? We live in two different worlds… mine just happens to be Vance" Sora chuckled as he stepped forward.

Ren feebly stepped in front of me holding his sword with one hand. He seemed unable to lift the arm that had been struck by the dart.

" I won't let you touch him!" Ren stated sternly.

" You don't need to do this!" I said as I drew my sword and Kibbles lept out of my arms.

" Oh but I do, It is my job. I grow tired of this chatter. Time to end this!" Sora said as he rushed towards me with his men.

" Wait a minute!" A female voice yelled.

I looked behind the group that had stopped in their tracks to find the voice.

"You can't have him you dipsticks! Reo's grandson is mine!" The voice said again and stood behind the assassins.

" The bandit leader?!" Sora and I said in unison.

" I have a name you know" Haia replied in a huff.

Some of her beaten men appeared behind her with clubs and ruined weapons in their hand.

" Sorry, we found him first!" Sora replied.

" Too bad… have you forgotten we steal for a living" One of the bandits replied.

" Get the ones in those stupid costumes!" Haia shouted.

" YES BOSS!" The men and women behind the bandits shouted.

The assassins and Sora charged towards the Bandits and Haia. I was surprised that so many people could fit in one small area. I was even more surprised to see that Haia had come to my rescue at such a time.

" Get outta here and take that cutie who is about to collapse with you!" Haia shouted as she blocked an attack from Sora.

" I owe you one!" I shouted in response.

I looked over at Ren and he looked like he was about to collapse. Sweat from coming down from his brow. I quickly took off my back and wrapped it around my chest before I grabbed Ren and put his sword away.

I then grabbed his body. He feebly attempted to struggle as I wrapped his arms around my throat and started to piggyback him.

" Yuki" Ren said weakly in my ear before fainting.

He was heavy but it there was no time to complain as an assassin had broken off and started charging towards me.

[ Not good!]

With a sword in one hand my bag on my front and Ren on my back I tried my best to dodge the man who was charging at me.

Just as he was about to reach me there was a reverberating clang noise as the assassin's weapon fell out of his hand.

" Sorry I am late young master," said a call from the rooftop.

" Ki?" I replied as I looked up.

" Let's go!" Ki said as she jumped down.

She was wounded, but in much better shape then Ren.

" Give me the moron who forgot his training and you focus on getting out of here with me!" Ki replied as she looked at Ren on my back before slicing at the assassin with her dagger.

" I am glad to see you Ki" I said quietly.

" I missed you too young master!" Ki said as she forcefully grabbed Ren from my back.
