31 A Drop In The Bottom Of The Ocean

" Meowster… Meowster! " called a voice coming from all directions, it seemed ethereal and distant, yet vibrated through my very being.

I opened my eyes from what felt like a timeless slumber to see nothing but a pitch black void all around me.There was no smell, no sound other then the distant cry calling to me and nothing to touch or connect with.

I felt .. distant from myself.

It was a strange sensation.

I couldn't even feel my body.

I wondered for a moment if something had gone wrong and I had died. I tried to look at my hands and yet...

Was I moving?

I couldn't tell.

The darkness surrounding me was comforting. It was like it was a mother holding their newborn child, I wondered if this was like a mermaid sitting in the bottom of an ocean closed off from all preditors and life.

[ Wait what is an ocean? ]

I could tell that my memories were fragmenting, everything that made me ... started to fade like a flickering candle as if being sucked out by the void. There was nothing to panic about or fear, however, I just somehow knew this was how it was supposed to be.

I was completely relaxed as I felt myself start to disappear.

[ This isn't so bad, who am I again? ]

" Meowster" the voice called out in a slightly panicked tone.

[ There it goes again… ]

" Yuki " A masculine voice called.

[ Is that me? ]

[ Am I Yuki? Is that even a name? What is a ...]

" Yuki you have to come back now." The male's voice called again this time sternly.

I watched as a pale white dot appeared in the distance. It grew wider and wider as it expanded into what appeared to be a grand and mighty Kithun covered in white flames. Its padded feet walked on the nothing like it was dancing, each step it took left cracks on the darkness. Smoke seemed to pour from its mouth burning the world around me.

The blissful feeling of fading ceased and was replaced by pain. I tried to scream but I couldn't. I watched as the beast charged at me with its massive mouth, threatening to swallow me whole.

The memories seemed to pour back into my skin in waves, crawling into my soul like little ants, tearing at my flesh.

I seemed to be able to look down now and I started at my hands.

Watching as my hands seemed to form in shards like glass, the pain burning me!

Burning!

[ Make it stop!! Make it stop! ]

The pain had finally reached my lungs, wide eyed I tried to take a breath.

I inhaled a large mouthful of air and blinked.

When I had opened my eyes again I was in a garden with three faces looking over me.

One face that belonged to a cat, one that belonged to a long haired mischief maker and one that belonged to a golden eyed girl.

I sat up quickly and started to violently cough.

[ Left hand, Right hand… alright]

I then patted down my chest and finally my face.

" What just?" I said confused.

" Meowster!! You're back! I am so happy! " Said Kibbles as he pounced on my legs and rubbed his face against mine.

" Yuki!" said Cupid as sweat dripped down his face. The panic on his face seemed to fade and was replaced by a smile.

" You owe me one idiot" Said the girl as she walked over to Cupid and pet him on the head like a child.

I looked at Kibbles and then at Cupid and the purple dressed girl.

The girl then coughed and Cupid said " This is my friend Rin-Rin, she helped me get you back from ..uhh.. How do I put this"

Rinura looked at cupid and shook her head.

" Basically kiddo, you died and your atoms were being removed from your soul to be reused. So me and this idiot here had to put you back together like a million piece jigsaw." Said Rinura in a matter of fact tone.

[ What!? ]

My jaw dropped and hung open like a scene from a comic book. Kibbles pushed its head under my chin to close my mouth.

" Why didn't that happen last time? " I said allowed thinking about how strange the experience I just had was.

" That's because your soul was basically yanked from your body as soon as you died last time. I mean souls are some complicated stuff. It's not like Cupie and I can keep reviving your essence over and over again. You revived this time.. but.. we are not sure just how m.. " Rinura said before being cut off by Cupid.

" Mm I think he gets it. No need to go into detail, he is alright now isn't he? " Cupid said giving a look to Rinura.

My head began to swim and I unconsciously petted Kibbles.

[ Wait… KIBBLES?!]

" KIBBLES YOU'RE OKAY, I WAS SO WORRIED!!!" I said almost yelling and I grabbed the kithun and held it close to me. I rubbed my face against his face. Kibbles tried to use its paws to push me away but it was of no use.

It took a good few minutes and a swipe on my cheek for me to finally let go. Kibbles pounced away and landed on Cupid's shoulder before staring at me as it cleaned itself with its paw.

I stared at the cat almost dejectedly.

" Mm he is okay" Cupid said as he looked over on his shoulder.

" Aren't you gonna say something Yuki? " The girl Rinura looked at me with her arms crossed.

" Thank you for fixing me and Kibbles " I said after a moment of thought.

" Ahh there is hope for you yet feeble one " said Rin-Rin and laughed.

" Meowster, I got an upgrade! " Said Kibbles proudly as he lifted his head.

" Upgrade?" I said as I shook my head.

" Mm meowster Rinura gave me a soul! I can.. Be like a real Kithun now! " Kibbles said as I swore I saw it smiling.

" Yep, I used the soul the kithun host had and merged it with the programming from Cupie darlings designs. He broke in the first place because the universe's laws didn't account for the anomaly, he will still be able to help you get laid telepathically but he is all cat now." Rinura said in a cheeky tone.

[ Get ...laid? ]

My cheeks went bright red as I swore smoke was coming out of my ears.

" Meowster your old body is a little different too!" Kibbles said.

I snapped out of my embarrassment as Cupid chimed in. " mm.. Rinura wanted to make things more interesting.. In exchange for helping you out. We have strengthened your body and since the system in Kibbles no longer works they way it did, the symbol on your hand will now function like a sort of smart watch from earth. You will just need to say menu like last time or touch the back of your hand." Cupid said quietly.

" Makes things interesting you say? " I said worried.

" What, you think I am a charity? Going and wasting my time for no reason? Do you think I am on your side? Hahaha Hell no! Now give me a good show!" Rinura said with an evil grin and clicked her fingers.

The next moment I was back in my room sitting on my bed like nothing had happened. I check out side and the moon was hanging exactly where I had seen it last. Kibbles was on my bed and tried to find a comfy spot.

I looked down at the bow and arrow on my hand.

Suddenly I heard a knock on the door.

" Young Master? Are you here? " Came the sweet voice of Ki.

" hmm I am here." I responded deep in thought.
