She was a little nervous since she never traveled alone before but she arrived in the capital safely, met a few familiar faces, and decided to go to the boarding house she will be staying in. When she arrived, she invited herself into the house and started unpacking her things.
Dust puffed out from her bag.
It was a long way from the North to the capital. If she hadn’t gone through the gates it would have taken months to arrive here.
This house was small and warm and it was pretty nice—actually it was very nice— so Brigitta cheerily hummed and arranged her sword, ax, and bow.
‘I think I chose a nice boarding house’
Margrave Siegfried repeatedly warned her about the dangers in the capital and scammers that could target her so she was a little nervous but it all turned out well.
Then she spotted a deer’s blood she hunted on the way on her shamshir*.
She was a meticulous person who hated this kind of filth. She even cleaned her room twice a day back in the Northern Walls.
Brigitta looked for something to clean it with and found a towel in the kitchen. She decided to borrow it for a while. She was going to apologize to the house owner and buy her a new one.
She couldn’t find a candle anywhere so she relied on the sunset shining through the window to examine, but it wasn’t that troublesome because the house had a big window.
When she was admiring her neatness as she cleaned her shamshir, the door opened.
It seemed like the house owner.
Her hazel brown hair was tied up neatly and she had big glasses. The refraction was slight, so it seemed like her eyesight wasn’t so bad. Or she could be wearing non-prescription glasses.
Her eyes looked like those of a terrified rabbit—most probably because of Brigitta and her shamshir— and collapsed to the floor and started screaming.
Only then Brigitta realized how she looked.
She was standing against the window so only her silhouette could be seen and she was holding a bloody shamshir in one hand.
Her silhouette must have probably looked like a man.
Brigitta flustered to explain to the small woman that she was here for the boarding house. Then the small lady shook her head and said her house was not a boarding house.
So Brigitta showed her the address of the boarding house in the letter and the small lady explained that it was the house next door and that they moved yesterday.
Brigitta was dumbfounded.
So to wrap it up in a nutshell, she was scammed, she intruded an irrelevant person’s house, and had no place to stay.
Even worse now,
the small lady started trembling when she heard Brigitta unconsciously say “F*ck”.

Eva could only stare at Brigitta who started speaking in the Holkan language.
Eva initially thought Brigitta was a man but the voice and body shape was not that of a man’s.
On top of that, the intruder had breasts. The intruder Eva thought of as a man was actually a woman.
Also, she was a pitiful person who just got scammed not a robber.
Eva could immediately tell Brigitta was still not familiar with the Kingdom’s language from Brigitta’s way of speaking. Bad people must have used that against her.
Eva tried to remember the faces of the people next door but her job required her to stay home most of the time so she couldn’t remember their faces.
“Uh….”
“Here, my lady.”
Brigitta held her hand out to Eva and at that moment she looked like a painting.
When Eva hesitantly placed her hand above Brigitta’s, her body was lifted effortlessly.
Wow, incredible.
Brigitta was equally amazed at Eva’s weight; she was too light.
As it was the nature of her job, women Brigitta met back in the Northern Walls were all knights and even if they weren’t as big as Brigitta, they had a big build.
So it’s been a very long time since Brigitta met such a small and delicate woman face-to-face.
No, actually Brigitta never met women like her except for the ladies she escorted in banquets.
On the contrary, she omitted the firm vibes of a knight.
Isn’t she what a delicate or fragile woman is? Brigitta thought of how that crazy Duke always called her delicate.
“Uh… y, you said you are a knight…… ri…ght?”
“Yes, my lady I wasn’t trying to threb….., threaten? you.”
Brigitta’s eyes shined brightly as she blinked out of embarrassment. Eva never saw such purely golden eyes.
“Uh…..the….”
“Ah!”
Brigitta became flustered again when Eva looked down at the towel on the floor.
She dirtied Eva’s things, not to mention intruding her house.
A clean and righteous knight like her never made this many mistakes except when she first immigrated here.
“No, wait, yes? This happened when I came in thinking this was the boarding house. ah, that is, I will want to buy you? Uh, Ah, no, buy you. So.”
Eva zoned out while staring up at Brigitta.
She was a really—– really handsome knight.
Her nose was sharp and her eye shape was deep and handsome. The Holkan characteristic of a deep eye fantastically got along with her sparkling golden eyes.
The slightly tanned skin and her short silver hair suited her perfectly too.
As a novel author, Eva’s instincts were telling her that Brigitta was the perfect male lead for a novel.
“Uh.. miss knight.”
“Brigitta is fine, my lady.”
Eva was not very skilled in conversing but she felt it would be too much of a loss for her to lose this opportunity since she was struggling in writing her manuscript.
So Eva thought deeply and arranged her words.
Brigitta waited for Eva patiently. This was also a very good trait for a perfect male lead.
Patient, strong, and kind. Star marked and underlined. She put an A+ mark on the imaginary paper in her head.
“S, so, if you don’t have a place to stay……There’s plenty of room here so. Umm, you can stay here.”
Brigitta took some time to digest Eva’s words to make sure she understood her correctly and then, surprisedly opened her eyes.
“Yea that’ll be fine, yep. Miss knight……you seem like a good person, and.”
“My lady. It’s weird that I’m the one saying this but you shouldn’t trusta….no, trust strangers so easily.”
“But you are a knight…..?”
Eva’s green eyes looked up at her like a cute little rabbit.
Brigitta was astonished for a while.
“In return, I write…..for a living so, I want to know what knights……ah, for a story! Could I interview you…..?”
Of course, Eva was not going to let in a stranger without a plan.
Plus, if she was worried about Brigitta being a real knight or not, she could always go check at the government office to confirm.
Brigitta started contemplating Eva’s suggestion.
Brigitta didn’t have much money at the moment. There were plenty of people that would lend her if she asked but she didn’t want to. She had no place to stay too so Eva’s suggestion was a really good deal.
Also, this small lady seemed like she lived alone in this house and she lacked the cautiousness to even let a stranger like her stay, so—-even though they just met—-Brigitta was worried for her.
Brigitta didn’t exactly understand how ‘interview’ was translated to the Holkan language but she thought she could stay here as a bodyguard since she was absolutely confident in her ability.
“Then I owe you, my lady. I am Brigitta Emmerich.”
“E, Eva. No, Evangeline. I, I live here but I’m a commoner so…I’m not a lady I’m, uh…I’m… Never mind. Please make yourself comfortable.”
…….It was 10 minutes later that Brigitta found out Eva was really bad at cooking.

Informant B spoke up.
“The Duke’s lily and His Majesty’s beloved author live together now.”
Then the Chancellor said.
“Oh god….why…”
*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*
“Eva.”
A meltingly sweet voice called her name.
“Evangeline. You should get up now.”
“Mmmm…..”
Eva felt a warm hand softly stroking her head.
She felt like she had to wake up for the kind voice but she slept a little over 3 am yesterday revising her manuscript. So, she wanted to sleep more.
It was because she fixed a little of every aspect of the male lead.
Also, she was worried about the changed ending of the manuscript. So she fixed a little here and a little there and eventually finished at 3 am.
Yea, she couldn’t wake up right now because of that. Not because she was lazy or an oversleeper.
Eva mumbled these excuses to herself and snuggled deeper into the blanket.
Male lead. A very significant element in a romance novel.
She thought her initial draft wasn’t so bad. She couldn’t predict the number of sales but she expected it to be at least like her least famous book. And even that ‘least famous book’ of hers immediately became a romance best-seller when it was published.
But the reason she changed the initial draft was because—–the knight she met yesterday was so strikingly impressive.
“Eva. Let’s have breakfast.”
“Yeawhahwhkahaeehhhhh!”
Eva jumped up like a compressed-then-released spring.
She quickly tidied her messy hair and wiped the saliva on her chin. Then she turned and smiled brightly to her shining muse.
The silver-haired handsome knight who, so kindly, brought breakfast to her bed.
Wow. So dreamy. Perfect.
Eva’s jaw dropped and she was about to drool.
“Did you sleep well, my lady?”
“Yeees…….”
The knight that started living with her since yesterday and the commander of the Wolf Knights of the North, Brigitta, smiled as bright and refreshing as the morning sunshine.

[TL NOTE]
*Shamshir: Persian/Iranian sword with a radical curve
Hey readers~ I’m thankful that this novel is getting this much of attention and I realized that there were some things I needed to make clear to avoid confusion.
Karlos Rumillesa (aka Emperor, His Majesty, God of War, fan name E): One of the two surviving Rumillesa Royal Family. Has black hair that shines red when hit by light. Has superhuman strength. Loves romance novels.
Duke (aka, Duke Maximillien): The other surviving member of they Rumillesa Royal Family; Karlos’s cousin. He is a powerful mage. He is in love with Brigitta.
Brigitta Emmerich (aka Commander of the Wolf Knights, lily-by the Duke): She has short silver hair and has pure golden eyes. She is originally from Holka, a country now erased from the map as it was defeated by the Western Kingdom. She is not so fluent in the language of the Western Kingdom. She is handsome and buff. (so it’s not BL)
Glenn Harztman (aka the Chancellor, Bad Boss): He was a commoner who became a Chancellor (very remarkable ouioui). He spies on the Duke and Karlos by using informants.
Siegfried (aka Margrave): Again, Margrave is a position, specifically a Count that protects a border/territory. He became a Margrave at age 15. He thinks of Brigitta as his own daughter.
