Eva was a small and delicate woman.
She was alone and an orphan but she didn’t have a tough livelihood.
In fact, she was a popular romance novel author.
Her house was purchased with the money she earned from her books. Property in the capital was way more expensive than those in the other regions. So, from just her house it was obvious how popular her books were.
She submitted the manuscript today and was walking back home joyfully.
It was when she was a maid when she first wrote her book. Her masters were unusually kind noble people.
They always looked after their servants and even gave out fur clothes in winter.
They were such good people that she still contacted them even after her success.
To elaborate on how she started writing, Eva was actually illiterate but she learned how to read and write from the baroness. And the baroness’s hobby was to read romance novels.
The baroness was a gentle and generous person.
She often asked the maids what they needed and gifted those.
So it was probably inevitable that she helped an illiterate maid learn how to read and write. She patiently taught Eva and initially, Eva was uncomfortable with her kindness but they soon got along.
And the teaching material the baroness used back then was a romance novel.
When Eva could read, the baroness recommended her novels to read and discussed them with Eva. Sometimes, they would even get mad about a fictional character together.
Then one day, Eva started writing her own book.
She was shy but she always went to the baroness first to show her crumpled manuscript.
The baroness was even more excited about Eva’s manuscript than Eva herself. She complimented Eva’s writing and encouraged Eva to write more.
Eva then started sleeping lesser to finish her manuscript.
And in a competition, which she no longer remembered the name, Eva won a gold award.
Eva remembered how happy the baroness and she were.
The baron stared at them wondering what was going on but when he found out that Eva won a gold award, he congratulated her.
And when Eva decided to become a full-time writer, they gave her quite some money for severance pay. Even when Eva declined multiple times.
Now she had a fan named E who always sent fan letters ever since her first work.
Today, she was coming back from the publisher with a heap of fan letters, and on top of that pile was E’s letter.
When E sent her the potion not long ago, she was very surprised. She never saw a potion even when she served the baron so she assumed E was a very rich person or a high noble classman.
Also, she thought she would have to be more considerate when replying to fan letters.
Anyway, the sky was blue and it was a nice day.

Absurdly, he was on the battlefield when he first read a romance novel.
To elaborate on how that happened, one of the knights packed a book he was going to gift his sister accidentally. And he left it with the commanders to keep it safe. However, unfortunately, that knight died in battle.
And coincidentally, the Emperor was bored.
To the Emperor, the battlefield was too easy.
In one swing of an arm, a person was thrown to the air. One surge of power and he could run faster than anyone and riding a horse was as easy as walking.
The Emperor could do anything that involved physical activity with ease.
8 years ago, when he shined the most because he was the most miserable.
When Karlos ascended the throne without any proper process because the previous Emperor died in the war, he thought he was calm.
But thinking of it now he knew he was in an unstable mental state back then.
First of all, he couldn’t sleep. And the thing he held on to in those sleepless nights was a romance novel.
He used a tent alone that was always silent and often stank of blood.
He was about to clean his armor since he couldn’t sleep when he saw the book.
The paper band was still on so he could see that it won a gold award in some competition.
The book was a shock to Karlos, who was even less active in romance back then.
It felt warmer and more reassuring than the reports about the number of enemies’ deaths.
His heart beated faster when he read the book than when he was in battle.
The main character was caring but strong and had the courage to overcome hardship. He also didn’t hesitate in conquering love.
It was sweet. He felt the butterflies he had lost before he was even 20.
The strongest man on the continent finished the whole book that night and showed up to the conference with bloodshot eyes the next day.
The commanders wondered what possibly could have tired His Majesty, but they didn’t dare ask.
So, Karlos could hide his newly developed hobby without much trouble.
Even when he came back to the capital after the war, he couldn’t forget that book. So he started collecting novels.
But among the collection, the first novel he read was his favorite so it was not a surprise that he became the author’s fan.
Fan name E.
That’s why Karlos was so upset about missing his holiday since he was supposed to go to the limited edition event.

“Lord Emmerich is coming?”
“Yes sir.”
Informant A answered the Chancellor, sweating.
Glenn Holtzman. He was an exceptional man who became the Kingdom’s Chancellor as a commoner.
And he was a terribly tedious and competent ‘Bad Boss’.
“Why so suddenly?”
“We don’t know about that either….. We do know that he met the Margrave once but it was so sudden that we couldn’t investigate it properly.”
“Hmm”
Brigitta Emmerich.
She was a knight of the now nonexistent country, Holka.
She was one of the most skilled knights in the Kingdom and was a reliable person defending the Northern Walls.
It’s been 8 years since she immigrated here but she traveled to so many rough parts of the Kingdom that she learned the swear words first.
So her way of speaking was still awkward but she was a good person.
Like any other Holkan, her actions were so energetic and driven that she was often misunderstood too.
And significantly, she was the recipient of the Duke’s love.
…….This was all the informants could find out about her.
They knew more specific information about her like her preference in weapons, her address, her holiday duration, her shoe size, and her favorite food. It would be valuable information if they were the Duke but they weren’t so this information was useless to them.
She was a foreigner from an enemy country but her reputation here was pretty good.
It was because she surrendered for her soldiers that were oppressed by Holka and voluntarily fought for the Eastern Kingdom in the frontline.
Glenn has seen her in battle with the Emperor. It was like someone released two wild bears in a herd of sheep.
They barely talked but often wrote letters to each other and the Brigitta he knew was never a person that would unexpectedly visit.
Even when the Duke persistently tried to flirt with her, Brigitta firmly rejected him and remained in the Northern Walls.
“I wonder why…. It’s probably not because she is going to accept the Duke’s proposal.”
“I don’t think that will happen even if the sky is falling apart sir. Since the commander actually threw the Duke out of a four-story window the last time he proposed.”
“The next time I see her I should really thank her for that. Remarkable.”
Glenn said pleasantly as he went through the list of rebels.
Informant A was equally afraid of Brigitta who dared to throw the Kingdom’s Duke and the Royal family member out of a window, of the Duke who didn’t even get a scratch from that fall, and the Chancellor who praised Brigitta while deciding which rebel to behead.
But he had a wife and children at home, so he pretended to be fine and continued.
“Did she meet anyone?”
“Only the Margrave sir. She didn’t say much to her soldiers.”
“What is Lord Emmerich planning to do….. Anyway okay.”
The Chancellor sank into his chair and bobbed his head. It was his habit when he was thinking.
The informants knew that there would be more work when he finishes his bobbing and made a tearful face.
“Is there a Holkan she might want to meet in the capital?”
“Most of the berserkers are located near the Northern walls…. but there must be some in the capital. Uh…near the hired soldiers guild.”
“Ah. right. Hmm, but I don’t think she’s here for them…”
Glenn started bobbing his head again.
“Why don’t you all start praying? My intuition is telling me that something troublesome is going to happen soon.”
The informants started sighing.
Glenn Holtzman. The intuition that brought him to where he is today was never wrong.
*.·:·.☽✧ ✦ ✧☾.·:·.*
While all the informants were sighing, Brigitta Emmerich was encountered with a difficult situation. A very difficult situation.
I didn’t intend to. No, I wasn’t planning to, that’s not how I wanted to phrase it.
She resented the unfamiliar Kingdom’s language.
Brigitta looked at the small lady that was trembling in front of her.
