Chapter 35 - Focus On The Present, Not The Past.

The next morning, Selene tried her best to lift up her mood although deep inside she was sad and feeling down. She accidentally learned a heartbreaking truth last night.

Selene woke up while her Grandma Elysa was talking to her last night. She pretended to be asleep as she continued listening to her.

Now she understood everything now. Her grandmother was already aware of her illness and she hid the truth from her.

Grandma Elysa was already diagnosed earlier with Stage 3 Breast Cancer but she only found out when her condition got worse. In her previous life, Grandma Elysa was already in stage 4 when she learned about it.

Selene understood Grandma Elysa for making that choice. If she was in her shoes then she would probably do the same thing because she couldn't bear to see her loved ones suffer from pain and sadness just because of her.

However, she was still hurt knowing the truth. She blamed herself for not noticing it sooner. Her grandma suffered alone in her sickness while she was busy taking care of Renz, trying to get closer to him.

She regretted this. And now, she wanted to make it up for her grandma. She would let her feel how much she loved her every day. She would take good care of her from now on.

Selene was spacing out in her room when Eros approached her, snapping his fingers in front of her face.

"You look like your mind is wandering somewhere. Wake up, Selene? Are you daydreaming or something?" Eros said to her teasingly.

Compared to Selene, Eros was in a good mood today. He had a good night's sleep and woke up feeling recharged and refreshed.

Because of Eros, Selene was pulled out of her train of thoughts. "Eros…" She softly mumbled with her sad expression.

Eros's brows were drawn together after seeing Selene's face. He could see through her eyes that there was a storm of emotions swirling inside her heart right now.

"What happened? What made you look so sad today? Did you have a bad dream last night?" Eros bombarded her with questions. He was concerned about her.

Instead of answering him, Selene opened her arms wide in front of Eros and said, "Come, my angel. Comfort me please. I'm feeling so sad. I need a hug from my angel to cheer me up."

Unknowingly, Selene became more comfortable sharing her troubles with Eros. When she was feeling down, she felt like a hug from him could make her feel a little bit better.

Eros sighed helplessly. Selene had been making him do a lot of things lately. But as always, he would yield to her request. He slowly traced his steps towards her. Upon reaching her spot, Eros let Selene hug him as she wanted.

Eros could only pat her back using his small hands to comfort her. He wondered what happened to her. Yesterday, she looked so happy but now she was sulking in her room with a face like a wet weekend.

It did not take long when Eros felt moisture on his right shoulder. At that certain moment, he realized that Selene was crying. Her tears already fell down on Eros's shoulder.

Eros's face contorted. He didn't want to see Selene crying but it's better to let her pour her heart out rather than keeping it inside.

"Eros, my grandma… She already knew about her illness. But she chose to hide it from me. She also refused to receive treatment so that she could spend time with me rather than staying in the hospital," Selene finally talked about the reason why she's feeling down today.

Erose was rendered speechless after hearing that. Now, he understood why Selene felt very sad. But he was not surprised with Grandma Elysá's decision. Knowing the situation, he already expected her to make that choice for Selene's sake.

He admired Selene's grandma for doing that. He knew that for other people it would be a hard decision. It only just showed how much she cared about Selene.

"I-I am so stupid for not knowing it sooner. If I had known it sooner then I shouldn't have wasted my time doing unnecessary things. I should have taken good care of her. I feel like I am a useless and bad granddaughter for letting my grandma suffer alone with her sickness."

Eros broke the hug and held her shoulders. He locked his eyes on hers, saying something to console her.

"Don't blame yourself, Selene. It was all in the past now. You already have the second chance to do the things you were not able to do before for your grandmother. Stop sulking in your room. Your grandma will be sad if she sees you like this. Do you want that?"

Selene shook her head as a response. Eros smiled at her, raising his hand to wipe away her tears.

"Alright. Cheer up. Fix yourself and go outside. Be with your grandma and spend time with her."

Selene nodded her head. Eros was right. Instead of thinking about the past, she should focus on the present.

She was just calming her emotions when they heard someone knocking at her door.

"Selene, are you there?" Micaela's voice was heard.

Selene watched her reflection in the mirror one last time before opening the door for Micaela.

"Hey, good morning!" Micaela greeted her cheerfully.

Selene returned her greetings with a bright smile. She was back to her usual self now, thanks to Eros.

"How's your sleep?" Selene asked Micaela as they sat down on her bed.

"Surprisingly, I fell asleep early last night. Thanks for letting me come. I'm so happy to meet your grandma. She's so sweet and kind. I already love her like my own grandma."

Selene smiled faintly at her. "No need to mention that. By the way, Micaela, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, best. What is it that you want to know?"

"Do you have a boyfriend now? Are you in a relationship?"

Selene was really curious about the relationship between Micaela and Mr. M so she was not able to hold herself to ask her indirectly, hoping that Micaela would mention Mr. M.

Micaela fell silent for a moment. She didn't answer right away. Selene's question caught her by surprise. She didn't expect that Selene would ask her about that.

Soon, Selene and Eros heard Micaela's firm answer. "No, I don't have a boyfriend."

Selene: "..."

Eros: "..."
