Chapter 97 - After The Storm

With Kable's overwhelming power, wiping out the Ning family did not take long. But one thing that bothered Kable about this whole thing was that a wraith had shown up. They were a very powerful race, and their numbers were unknown. "Cain!"

"Yes, Master?" Cain appeared at Kable's side.

"Send people out to check all the orc clans. Anything suspicious needs to be reported back. We may be in for a troublesome future." Kable felt like soon the entire underworld was about to be turned upside down, and if that happens…

---

Shen Xia had already arrived home. When she got word that the Ning family was wiped out at its roots, she let out a sigh of relief. Now she was currently lying back in a hot bath with her head just above the waterline. Her eyes were closed as she tried to relax after a long night. She was trying to wash away all the things that had happened on this day.

"Xiaxia..." Lilith walked into the bathroom with a towel in her hand.

"Hmm?" Shen Xia turned to see Lilith standing there. Her expression was one filled with worry. "What's wrong?"

"I… I was worried you would be feeling down. After all these past few days, you were forced to kill people… Not to mention the girls. I know this has all affected you greatly." Lilith answered. Everyone else was sound asleep. Besides Shen Xia, only Lilith was awake. And that was not only because she did not need to sleep but also because she was worried about Shen Xia's mental well being.

Shen Xia smiled and closed her eyes again as she got back into a comfortable position. "It's not the killing that bothers me. My mental state has already long merged with my animal instincts, and killing is no issue. I was mainly bothered by how those girls I knew were treated in such a way. Although most bullied me, I still knew them and to see them being treated as objects is what made me so angry. But I guess I would have acted the same if it was any girl. What I worry about is if I will be able to survive in the underworld. I think I may be too kind, and that is what may end up killing me."

"That is why I am at your side to protect you from such things so you can keep that kindness," Lilith answered as she walked over and began gently washing Shen Xia's hair for her.

"Mmm… I will be counting on you. If I make a mistake or am being stupid, make sure you put me in place. I need to learn so much as I am the newbie in a place filled with old goats." Shen Xia was happy she had Lilith at her side. She was good at keeping her in line and was willing to be a demon to make sure she could grow stronger.

"These old goats. Are any of them, Master?" Lilith asked teasingly.

"Mmm… He is a handsome, sexy, old goat, so it's fine." Shen Xia replied, her answer causing Lilith to chuckle. The two girls talked while Lilith finished washing Shen Xia's hair. Only then did Shen Xia get out of the bathtub to dry off and get changed.

When Shen Xia exited the bathroom with Lilith, she found a set of eyes staring at her. Sitting at the end of her bed, Quan Xinya had her arms crossed across her chest, and her left knee was bouncing up and down in aggravation. Her expression was that of one who had been severely wronged. "Xinya? Why do you look like you were just cheated on?"

"Because I have! Xiaxia, how could you not tell me you were back! I have been worried sick!" Quan Xinya whined. She felt so left out of the friendship loop!

"Oh? So worried that you were sprawled out on your bed sound asleep with drool dripping from your mouth?" Lilith asked, her lips curled up into a teasing smile.

"You! I… I have no idea when I fell asleep. But still! You could have woken me up!" Quan Xinya had stayed up late waiting for Shen Xia and Lilith to return. She even forced Shen Lingxin to go to bed.

Shen Xia let out a laugh as she patted her hair dry with a towel. "Alright. I'm sorry. My dear Xinya, next time, I will be sure to take pictures of your sleeping appearance and post it on the internet."

"Don't you dare!" Quan Xinya yelled out, her face flushing red. She would die if people saw her horrible sleeping posture. After pouting for a few seconds, Quan Xinya asked: "So, how was the raid?"

"None of the orcs escaped, and all the girls were rescued. Sadly a lot of them had to experience traumatic events. Luckily with magic, we can rid them of such experiences." Lilith answered. She knew that Shen Xia probably did not wish to think about it much.

"It's good that those bastards are dead. Hopefully, there will be no more events like this again." Quan Xinya sighed. She got up and began helping Shen Xia dry her tails.

Shen Xia was now used to people taking over drying her tails as it seemed to be a daily occurrence now. "I hope so too. I have enough on my mind as it is. I am still trying to come up with designs for my home assistant robot. I am thinking of going full humanoid."

"If it is you, I am sure you will build something amazing." Quan Xinya was sure whatever Shen Xia made would definitely be out of this world since she thought in a different way than others. This could be seen with how well Spot came out.

"Then I guess I will need to do my best!" Shen Xia liked relaxing and talking like this. It relaxed her a lot. But as she sat there and talked with Lilith and Quan Xinya, she started to wonder what was going on with Fei Yan. She had sent a message to her a few days ago but never got a reply. She decided she would send her another message when she woke up.

"By the way, Xiaxia, what are you going to do about Jess? She will probably ask if she can be by your side." Lilith asked.

"Jess?" Shen Xia thought for a moment and did notice that Jess was staring at her with eyes of longing that made her feel slightly uncomfortable. "Errmmm… I think I will leave it up to Kable. While she is a nice person, she gives off a strange vibe."

"Ah yes… That is true. I heard she is always eyeing the girls in the shower." Lilith also always felt Jess was a little strange, but she ignored it.

"Well, to each their own. I will just let Kable handle her.." Shen Xia did not care who liked who but she did not wish to be looked at by others in such a way.
