Chapter 176 - Old Memories Coming Back

Chapter 176 Old Memories Coming Back

“Mother, now is not the time to be angry with me. We should turn the gun on our common enemy. We can’t allow a mistress to enter our family.”

Maria reached out and hugged Mrs. Wilson.

The fact that her only child was on her side at the critical moment made Mrs. Wilson’s cold expression soften.

She reached out and held Mary into her arms. The mother and daughter, who had been arguing just a moment ago, became affectionate again because of the unknown enemy.

“What you said makes a lot of sense, Maria. It was my fault just now and I lost my temper with you. I hope you can forgive your hot-tempered mother.” Mrs. Wilson looked at Maria apologetically. Looking at Mrs. Wilson, who was apologizing to her, Maria’s anger was like a little flame that was extinguished by a bucket of cold water.

“You are my mother, so of course I will forgive you and I will never be angry with you,” Maria promised sweetly.

“Also, I did something wrong just now. I was too hot-tempered and started throwing a tantrum over something small. I even broke the gift you gave me.”

“I know it’s wrong of me to do this, but Mother, I need some time to slowly change the bad habits. You can’t expect me to change them all at once, right?”

Maria’s display of weakness made Mrs. Wilson feel guilty. She regretted her impulsive words and behaviors just now. Just like Maria said, it was not easy to get rid of a habit. How could she be expected to change it overnight?

Mrs. Wilson nodded and forgave her daughter.

The atmosphere between the mother and daughter eased up. Mrs. Wilson looked at the mess on the ground. Although she felt a little heartache, she restrained herself from scolding Maria.

“Your room is a little messy now. Let the servants come in and clean it. Come to my room.” Mrs. Wilson held Maria’s hand and opened the door. She said to the servant, Elena, “Clean up Miss Maria’s room.”

“Yes, ma’ am.”

Without looking back, Mrs. Wilson pulled Maria into her room and closed the door carefully.

The mother and daughter sat on the sofa and started plotting how to deal with the mistress Mr. Wilson was having outside.

Mr. Wilson, who was working in the company, sneezed violently.

Although Bard was working, he didn’t forget to attend to Mr. Wilson. He quickly stood up from his workplace, poured a glass of hot water, and delivered it to Mr. Wilson.

“Sir, do you have a cold? Do you want me to contact the family doctor for you?” Bard asked.

Mr. Wilson shook his head and looked at the warm water in front of him with disdain. Instead of warm water, he was used to drinking cold water with ice.

“Take the hot water away. I need cold water with ice,” Mr. Wilson emphasized.

“But warm water is better for your health.”

Bard wanted to dissuade him, but seeing the impatient look on Mr. Wilson’s face, he obeyed and brought a cup of cold water with ice to him.

Before returning to his workplace, Bard asked, “Do you really not need a family doctor?”

“I don’t. Please return to your work immediately.”

With Bard gone, Mr. Wilson rubbed his nose and his eyes darkened.

He couldn’t afford to have a family doctor now as the company was now facing some difficulties. He had invested almost all the cash in his hand and did not have any excess money to spend.

So even if he was unwell, he had to endure it until the company got over this crisis.

It had been a long time since he suffered like this. It was so long that he forgot that he was poor in the past and forgot about the woman who was with him while he was poor.
