Chapter 489 - I GAVE MY HEART, MY SOUL AND MY BODY TO YOU

The man just chuckled while watching the little girl walked towards her mother. Gossips between the business partners and other people erupted. Among their friends and family, it was known how much Travis dotted on his wife and children.

"You must have not known this but Travis treasured his wife so much." One of the lady guests commented to another acquaintance.

"Right. As much as possible, he wanted his wife to relax and not do anything."

"I can understand why. After all, they went through so many life and death situations. It must have been hard for them."

"Correct. It was really god's blessing that Jillyanna made it back."

After so many months of new update, people started to become more persistent to know about Jillyanna. They only released the news about her hospitalization when she was finally out of danger. Which was why, people knew how much she suffered after giving birth. Even if they would say that they knew what she went through or that they understood her pain, in fact, they didn't really know anything.

You could only imagine the pain that she went through but you will never understand her unless you experience the same exact situation as her.

"How long has the baby been awake?" Jillyanna asked her daughter who came to her side.

"About an hour."

"An hour? Why didn't you call us soon?"

"I managed to calm the baby down and talk with him for a moment but, he started to cry louder and he was a bit smelly." Jade leaned closer to her mother and whispered. "He pooped. And Daddy, didn't teach me how to change the diapers."

Jillyanna ruffled her daughter's hair with a huge smile on her face. "It's my birthday celebration today. Do you have any gift for Mommy?" It was shameless of her to ask something from her daughter but she was really expecting something even if it wasn't expensive.

"Of course. I know that Daddy was planning to surprise you. How can I not prepare something?" She put her hand on her back pocket, trying to get something for her. "Close your eyes, mom." Jillyanna did as she was told and closed her eyes. Jade opened her palm and exposed two beautiful butterfly clips. It was something that she had been busy making in the past few days.

She put on the clips on Jillyanna's hair before letting her open her eyes. "Can you take a picture of me so I can see it?"

"Okay." Jade received her mother's cellphone and smiled upon seeing the picture. It wasn't long ago that her wallpaper was just her and Travis, now it was changed to a family picture of the four of them. It was a photo taken by Riley last week. "One. Two. Three. Smile"

"It's lovely." Jillyanna commented, touching the clips with her other hand while she looked at the picture. "Did you make this?"

"Hn. I made it with Auntie Jackie's help. Happy birthday, Mom"

'No wonder it's pretty.' Jillyanna thought to herself. Jackie likes hairclips and most of the clips she had were made by her. The ones that she didn't make were usually gifts from her sisters and from Shein. "Thank you darling."

The crowd were envious of the interaction between the mother and daughter. Jade was a little mature for her age and she shared her parents' burden, making her understand the world of the adults. She was also very proud of her family and she didn't like anyone to talk bad about them. She was also very sharp tongue and has her own bottom line. Cross it and you will find yourself in a deep pit of grave.

"They are sure lucky to have a daughter like her."

"I agree. She's very smart, understanding and skillful. She doesn't look spoil as well, not demanding and very reasonable."

"I agree. It was a pity that she was abandoned at the very young age. It was a great thing that the couple likes her a lot."

"What a beautiful girl."

"Her biological mother must be really pretty, too."

"Too bad she died early."

"What about her father? Do you guys have any idea?"

"No, we don't. Even though it isn't a secret that she is adopted, everyone was refrained from saying that to the child. It will anger the lady of the house, and if she gets angry, Travis will make you pay for it. No one was allowed to look into the details of their daughter's birth as well."

Hearing the whispers among the crowd, Walter smiled sadly to himself. He lost something and it was something that he will never gain back even though he already found it. He could regret all he wants but it will not change a thing, it will not change the fact that he chose his business over his wife and children. He abandoned them.

Without anyone's notice, he left the place in silent and never came back.

Travis came down again and this time, he was carrying the child in his arms. He was still few months old but there was a great development on the small child. He was looking at the face of everyone as if he was trying to etch them in his memory.

Cheska looked towards his friend and smiled. "Can I hold him?"

"No." his answer was abrupt as if he knew what she wanted to tell him way before she opened her mouth. "Make your own baby if you want to hold a child."

"Then, I'll just carry little Jade." Cheska snorted and turned to walk away.

"You can't carry her." Travis called out.

"Why not?"

"She's my daughter. If you want to carry a child, get married and make your own baby." Travis answered expressionlessly as he walked over to his wife and his daughter.

"Why are you so selfish?!"

"That's how I am." Using Cheska as an example, people didn't ask Travis to hold the child. They just greeted the couple, chat a little with Jade, smile at the baby and left to go back to their won seats. The father was overprotective and the mother didn't really mind.

When the family of four settled down, Jackie came out to lead everyone to sing a happy birthday. They gave her their well-wishes and gifts, heartfelt messages, message of gratitude and so on. It was another event for her to receive so many gifts in one night. All of them were expensive and if she could sell everything, she would earn a million from it.

Among all the gifts, only Jade's gift was handmade. And this time, no one gave her a cash which was a good thing. Just as she was enjoying her birthday celebration, she realized something. Travis didn't give her a gift!

"Where's my gift?" Jillyanna asked him with a pout on her lips.

"I gave it to you already."

"Huh? When?"

"Earlier."

"I didn't receive anything." She argued back while trying to recall if he handed her something but she couldn't remember anything.

Travis leaned closer to hear, his warm breath fanning her earlobe, sending tickles down her spine. "I gave my heart, my soul and my body to you earlier. Did you forget?" He kissed her earlobe after he whispered those making his wife blush in a deep shade of crimson.
