Chapter 367 - ELI'S VISIT

In the blink of an eye, a month had passed and Jillyanna had been coming in and out of the hospital like how she used to when she was still a child.

Travis decided to do all his work at home and just leave the house for important meetings. The welcoming party that was supposedly held for him by the Xavier's was also postponed due to Jillyanna's condition.

Her child was now six months old and as the time went by, her heart was getting more frail. Even Dr. Eliezer Rivera who hadn't showed up, paid her a visit.

"Looking at you in this situation brings back old memories." Eli murmured while peeling an apple for her. He was sitting on a chair beside her hospital bed, still wearing his lab gown. "Will you be discharged soon? How many times have you been sent here? I thought you are resting at home?"

"I was. I didn't do any strenuous works. Travis didn't make me do house chores or anything. I just make myself busy by knitting some mittens and socks for my baby. You know how bored I was? It really sucks doing nothing."

"It doesn't matter if it sucks. What matter is that you are alive. Think about your husband if you will be gone. He had been waiting for you all his life, searching for you and now that he found you, you will just leave him? How about your baby? Do you know that a mother's love is a huge impact to a growing child?" Eli laid in front of her the facts that she had been trying to push at the back of her mind.

"Thanks for being blunt Eli."

"Hey! Is that even a compliment?!" Eliezer exclaimed but he still handed her the apple that he just peeled and sliced.

"You need to get well soon. Your wedding had been pushed off again. When will I see you in a wedding gown?"

"Instead of worrying about me Dr. Rivera, why don't you find yourself a girlfriend? Even if my wedding was being pushed off, at least I have registered my marriage with the person I love. How about you? When will I see your girlfriend?"

'You really know how to rub my sore spot.' Eli thought and sighed before standing up. "If you want to see my girlfriend, get well soon. I'll introduce her to you when you're doing better."

Jillyanna chuckled as she chewed on the apple she got from him. "As if you have a girlfriend. You don't even know how to court a woman. Hahaha, if you won't make a move, she will be snatched away from you."

"She was snatched away already." Eli murmured.

"What did you say?"

"It's nothing." Eli smiled and waved his hand at her. "I'll get back to work now. Be good and listen to your husband."

"Thanks Eli. Come and visit me at home when you have time." Jillyanna called out to him as the man, whom she treated as a family, left her hospital room.

Travis was just listening to their conversation outside her room and when Eli came out, he just nodded at him.

"Take care of her." Eli whispered and gave Travis a gentle pat on his shoulder before walking away.

When the door slid open again, Jillyanna looked up and saw Travis walking to her. "How did you know Dr. Rivera?" Travis asked her even though he knew how. He just wanted to hear the words directly from her.

Jillyanna bit on the last slice of apple before answering him. "Eli's father is a close junior doctor to my mom. When I was young, going in and out of the hospital, Eli would always visit his father and would drop by my room to see me as well. We just became friends as the time went by. When I was taken by my relatives, they wanted to take me back but Eli's mother didn't like the idea of raising someone else's child. When they heard that Cielo's parents were looking for me, they helped them with the custody process. Thus, we still keep in touch with each other. Eli became a physician and became our family doctor. Well...are..are you, by any chance, are you jealous of him?" Jillyanna asked hesitantly after telling him the short story.

Travis faintly nodded his head. "I was really jealous of him at first. Now, I just feel respect."

"Will I be discharged tomorrow?" Jillyanna changed the topic since she was so excited to go home. In just one month, she had been admitted to the hospital for five times already and she hated it.

Travis looked away and stared at the blue sky that can be seen outside her room's window. "Jill, I don't want you to be discharged."

Jillyanna didn't get angry or upset. There must be a reason why. She stayed silent and waited for him to continue speaking.

"In this one month, you've fainted several times even though you weren't doing anything stressful. It only shows how fragile your constitution is. If I take you home, there's a chance of you having a relapse. Instead of going back and forth between the hospital and our house, I've decided to let you stay here."

Jillyanna looked down on her hands and found that the tip of her fingers were turning purplish in color, which means to say that her body was lacking oxygen.

"If you think that it's the right choice, then I'll go with it. Three months will pass in just a blink of an eye." Jillyanna agreed but her voice still sounded sad and regretful.

"You are not angry with me for making this decision without consulting you?"

"If I get angry, will you change your mind?"

"Nope."

"So there's no point in getting angry." Jillyanna chuckled and reached out her hands to lightly pinch his cheeks. "I understand why you are doing this, so don't be sad."

Travis pulled her close and hugged her gently. "We will get through this. I know we'll get through this together."

Jillyanna didn't say anything but she hugged him back tightly.

For her, no one can say anything about the future. Even if she believe they would, it was never an assurance. 'Lord, please let me live a little longer with him.' she silently prayed, hoping it will be answered.
