Chapter 173 - [Bonus ]Purchasing Celebratory Cake

After dropping Sofia in her apartment, Jing Jing decided to buy a cake for their planned celebration. She made a quick detour and stop on a residential house along the empty street. The house has a balcony facing the turnstile gate. But it was the situation a few meters away from where Jing Jing stood.

On the gate was a modest sign of Carmella Cakes written in a small poster.

Jing Jing stepped out of her car and saw that there were two elder people, both husband, and wife, sitting cozily on the balcony. She waved her hand to them and gave a friendly smile.

"We have a customer," the wife announced and went to greet Jing Jing who just stood outside the gate. Her pace was fast despite her old age and quickly faced the woman.

"Hi, ma'am! I want to order a cake for tonight," Jing Jing stated as she recognized that it was the owner who greeted her.

In their district, there was only one establishment that sells baked goods. Even convenience stores would ask them for supplies of their products. 

The Carmela Cakes was distinguished by its delicious sweets. At first, they started to produce one product alone. But now, they have expanded to the point of hosting and catering events.

Jing Jing secretly prayed that the woman could bake for her.

"Hi, Miss Jing Jing! Yes, I have no orders to bake right now. I am just idling with my husband. Hehe, What time do you need the cake?" the woman inquired.

"Oh, Miss Jing Jing is here!" the man expressed as he followed behind his wife.

"Hello, sir! It's good to see you!" Jing Jing grinned at the man. The elder man was her teacher but now, he had already retired.

"Is it your birthday?" the man wondered.

"Haha, no, sir! It's for a celebration of my--- new boss," Jing Jing responded. She contemplated how to introduce Sofia to other people but realized that it would be easier to call her the new boss.

"I see. Then, come inside so you can pick the design of the cake," the man invited her.

"Okay. Thank you, sir!" Jing Jing bowed her head slightly before she pushed the gate open.

"So, you have a new boss? Eh, is it your boss' birthday?" the woman asked as the two of them guided Jing Jing to sit on the other chair of the balcony. Then, she gave Jing Jing a brochure for her to choose the cake design.

"Not a birthday, ma'am. It's a different occasion,"  Jing Jing answered as she started browsing the pictures of the cakes.

"Oh, a different occasion. I see," the woman mumbled while watching her flipping casually on every page of the brochure.

"Uh-uh. This one, ma'am." Jing Jing stated while her slender was pointing at the peach and orchid cake design.

In the brochure, it was a two-layered cake with an exquisite design. It was covered in a refreshing shade of light pink and complimented with beautiful hints of gold and fresh white orchids elegantly adorned down the sides of the cake.

"Okay, which flavor do you want to use?" the woman asked.

"Uhmm, I think the chocolate flavor is fine. I will pay now and have the cake delivered?" Jing Jing answered. Since her place was far from this house, she decided to deliver the product.

The woman shook her head and gave her an order receipt. "Our delivery cannot cater this, Miss Jing Jing. The driver and other staff are visiting a venue to prepare for a wedding event."

"Someone is getting married? Which family is it ma'am?" Jing Jing inquired, her face reflected deep curiosity. She found it rare that all the staff of the Carmela Cakes are so hands-on.

"Aiyoo, this wedding event is big. The one who asked us to prepare the venue is the young master of the Lee Family. He is marrying the mayor's daughter," the husband responded before his wife could speak.

"Ohh, that richest family in our district. That is indeed big," Jing Jing casually commented. Even though the Lee family is wealthy, the media did not dare follow their daily life. She was not also too mindful of the affairs of the Lee family, so, she could only express her current thoughts.

"They have not announced their wedding in public, so I ask Miss Jing Jing to keep it a secret," the woman thoughtfully said,

"Ahaha, yes, I am no longer working in the media, ma'am. And the Lee family cannot be offended," Jing Jing giggled while handing the payment to her.

"Hehe, then Miss Jing Jing, I won't see you in the television anymore?" the husband inquired.

"Hmmm, that depends, sir! My new boss is also a public figure. Maybe, you can still see me but I won't be the one reporting anymore. Haha," Jing Jing slightly laughed.

"I see. Do you plan to settle down now? Who is the lucky man?" the woman questioned. In her mind, if Jing Jing who had a flourishing career in the press industry would quit, the only reason was to focus on her romantic life.

"No, no, no," Jing Jing quickly responded. The questioned had really caught her off guard. "I just found another work, ma'am."

The husband and wife stared at her before they looked at each other. They seemed to share a look that only the two of them could comprehend. Jing Jing forced a smile with a helpless expression on her face.

"Then, I will take my leave. I will get the cake at around 6 PM, ma'am!" Jing Jing announced and quickly sprinted away before the two elders could speak another word to her.

"HAHAHA... Most young people today seemed to have lost interest in making a family. Look at Miss Jing Jing, she was so scared that she directly left!" the woman joked while watching Jing Jing entering her car.

"Hehe, that's true. But, this wedding of the Lee family may change the course of the politics in our district," the husband commented.

"They are very private people. I don't think they will be interested in politics," the woman expressed.

"We don't know. Changes are inevitable.. The old master of the Lee family hated the politics and only wants to engage in business trade but, the young master may be interested in these aspects?" the husband speculated.
