Chapter 58 - The Chronos Squad Vs Vutramites Squad (3)

The crude style in online gaming was not an unusual one to see, especially on the pro scene.

There were many ways to play crudely and give the opponent a rough time in leveling their characters by obstructing its EXP gains.

One of the many styles was what Joey was facing on the top lane.

He was being harassed by the mage and fighter user of the Vultramites squad!

Though, harassment in this kind of game was one effective tactic that could make an opponent not only irritated but also lose control of their patience. It could be seen as part of an overall gaming strategy to annoy their opponents.

Some would even go to the extent of feeling enrage when they were constantly getting harassed!

But, not Joey!

Despite the two characters guarding near the tower, waiting for him to get out of its protective range, Joey did not falter. He even made several round movements of his left thumb to show his character was just waiting and to provoke his opponents to go in their tower!

The mage and fighter were patrolling after they were able to clear the wave of creeps.

Joey would not also let the opponent's creeps go wasted. He will just move a little to clear these small soldiers and then retreat his character back to the tower!

As the seconds became minutes, the level of impatience became higher as well.

"Hehe," Joey only chuckled while watching at the two characters in the front of his screen. He was not pressured by their harassment.

To say, it was a psychological struggle on the top lane. Their battle was about whether who would get impatient or who would get pressured first. Who would give in to their frustration?

Clearly, Joey was winning the contest of their psychological pressure. His expression remained calm and composed while looking at the screen.

Meanwhile, on the side of the Vultramites squad, the mage user was about to lose her cool. She had been throwing mild yet hateful slurs on the screen of her mobile device as if her opponent could hear her insults.

"Are you still a man? Get out there, b*tch!"

"Coward! Tsk!!!"

Such kind of remarks were subtly whispered by the mage user while throwing her passive attacks towards Joey's character. However, there was just very little damage that she could inflict by the passive attack.

"Hahaha," Joey suddenly laughed. If these users were probably near each other, one of them would instantly get enrage. Joey's laughter could be heard as a sarcastic response to the verbal insults of the mage user.

The only problem, they were on a different lounge and could not communicate with their opponent in real life. So, Joey was oblivious by the hateful remarks of his enemy at all!

However, this time, his laughter was not about the amusement for the two opponents.

No! His reasons for laughing were completely different.

It was because of excitement. Something had caught his eye to make his enthusiasm surged up.

Joey's grinned became wider. Why is he excited? Simply because he had seen the movement of Claire's assassin character going towards his lane.

But this assassin was going to encircle her enemies by advancing to their back.

Claire went to the river then, she hastily moved while her in-game character presence became invisible by the use of stealth.

Once the stealth was activated, the assassin was completely concealed even though it was moving in the map.

And its movement was faster than any ordinary boots!

If one would look closer at her inventory, there were actually two boots for a speed boost on there!

The operator was also quick to notice this anomaly of speed and immediately zoom the items in Claire's inventory.

Upon seeing the large screen that displayed Claire's items, the audience quickly made a subtle remark out of her build.

"Ahhh, wow! That insane speed for two boots!"

"It works for an assassin to burst their speed in the early game to make farming faster. It actually makes more sense than getting an item fragments!"

"Double boots in the pro scene?"

"That's a clever move! She can always sell the boots later."

As the audience continued to discuss their opinions of which items to buy during the early minute of the match, the screen display back to the top lane where the assassin was about to arrive...

Joey cleared his throat as an evil smile crept on his face while moving his character near the wall. All he need was perfect timing... he had to wait for a few more seconds for Claire to get nearer.

Attack!

As soon as the signal appeared on his screen, Joey's fighter dashed sideward and kicked the mage. There was no hesitation in his action. It was the right time for him to deliver the attack.

The two opponents were startled by his sudden change of aggression, but, they have managed to catch him by the mage's ability to stun.

Joey's screen showed that all his skill had turned gray, as his character was immobilized for a few seconds.

"Hahaha," Joey still laughed once again even though he was stunned. He was not bothered by his enemies combo anymore. He was certain that Claire's assassin would arrive on time!

On the other side, these two opponents were also certain to drain his HP in just a matter of time!

Certainties!

Both sides were holding an assurance of getting the first kill. However, who's side would get the first blood?

As the mage user of the Vultramites squad had successfully countered Joey's kick, they were eager to make another attack. The pressed their skill set however, it did not function! Before they could throw a follow-up strike to their target, the mage and fighter characters were petrified on the spot!

A unified gasp echoed on the bleachers as almost all the audience were awed by the sudden assault.

They have seen Claire's assassin going towards the top lane, but they have not expected her to use her ability to stop the movements of the two characters as her first attack.

"AHHH! Nice!"

"Good coordination!"

The audience clapped briefly and then focused back to the top lane confrontation.

"Huh?" the two players of the Vultramites squad muttered in confusion. Before they could completely process what had caused their character to stiffened and unable to move, the assassin from Chronos squad emerged behind them.

"Sh*t! Back! Back!" the mage user repeatedly mumbled her words in panic. Then her finger pressed the signal for them to get back to their towers.

Retreat!

The signal quickly displayed on each of their screens for them to retreat after noticing that there were two Chronos players on the top lane.

These two had been focusing on harassing Joey that they did not notice when the assassin appeared behind them.

As they tried to move their characters, Joey's stun was also over. Now, he let his fighter ran towards the mage user...

The fighter user of the Vutramites squad tried to intercept but Claire was also targeting him!

There was no escape route!

One of the commentators leaned forward and quickly analyze the situation.

"We are finally witnessing a clash, folks! The very first actual clash of this match! The Chronos players on the top lane seemed to get the advantage in so many terms. They have managed to catch their enemies off-guard. And the Vutramites squad players were still far from their towers! We are now anticipating the first blood! Is it happening now?!"
