Chapter 56 - The Chronos Squad Vs Vultramites Squad(1)

The commentators dragged their mouse and quickly connected their microphones to the speakers. Then, the host finally left the stage which gave them a hint to take over the game.

The arrow of the clock finally pointed at exactly 1:00PM.

The players were also settled on their lounge and are ready for their battle. All eyes were in front of the devices as the countdown appeared on their screen.

"Check, check, test... Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen! We are back to the tournament of the second elimination round. We are all excited to see this! This is the last battle before we can proceed to the third elimination round! The squads that would be fighting for their chance to become the potential champion of this tournament are the Vultramites squad and the Chronos squad!"

The entire crowd became silent as the commentator started to make the introduction for the match.

On the large screen, the audience could see that each of the squad was starting to choose their role characters to be used on their current match.

The lineup was quickly completed in just a few seconds.

The Chronos Squad: tank, marksman, assassin, mage, and fighter.

vs.

Vultramites Squad: tank-support, marksman, assassin, mage, and fighter.

The roles were almost similar but the characters and their skills were very different.

For instance, the tank, CEO UNRIVALED was capable of casting a hook and grabbing the enemies towards his side. This skill is not hard to deliver and would not need to be mastered. The mastery was easy but to get the perfect timing on when to cast the hook was the challenging part of its user!

Anyone can cast a hook but not everyone can use it effectively.

On the side of the Vultramites' tank-support character, it was a beast-looking monster with a sturdy body holding a great and huge mallet. There was also a half a meter chain attached to its right foot.

Its skill was to leap forward and stomp its left foot to the ground, swaying the chain in the process. This skill has a double effect of creating an earthquake to the portion of the ground where the foot of the beast descended.

And the chain would give extra damage if an opponent would be hit. Then, the beast could also smash its weapon to the ground. It has a crowd control ability that would make the opponents stunned for a long time if they were caught on the tank-support range, giving the teammates a chance to annihilate an opponent in an instant!

Compared to the character CEO UNRIVALED, the tank of the Vultramites squad has more special skills. But because of its role as a half tank and half support, the beast was not so resistant to magic damage making it vulnerable to any mage skills.

"Hmmm," the operator in the computer room hummed while his eyes were focused on the three monitors in front of him. He blinked several times as he made multiple right clicks on his mouse. Then other several left clicks followed.

Having to look into multiple screens may seem to be troublesome, but for this operator, it was just a basic and easy task.

Behind the operator, the two tech support staff were also sitting and were waiting for the game to start.

The timer started to count from 20 seconds down to zero and everyone on the audience side peered carefully at the large screen until the map of the game appeared and the characters were instantly transported on each of their base.

The players on the center lounge were mentally counting the numbers that were reflected on their screens while moving swiftly to a different location.

On the jungle area, Claire quickly waited for the monsters to be spawned. Her assassin character was hiding on the grass while the game match started to count.

Joey maneuvered his fighter and went straight towards the top lane. Meanwhile, Stephen went directly to the bottom lane.

Their tank and mage character sprinted and crossed the river of the map and went to hide in the jungle area of their opponents. Their middle lane was left open for any attacks.

But it was just a few seconds after the match started. Hence, there would be not much of a damage from their opponent if they decided to attack their tower first.

The gaming background music gave everybody the kind of excitement and anticipation more and more intense.

Half a minute passed and the tiny soldiers were spawned on their base. And these creeps started marching from each side of the lanes to their opponent's territories.

The viewer's perspective shifted and was focused on the Chronos tank and mage characters hiding on the grass. It was clear that Sofia and Clark were aiming for a jungle steal! They were just waiting for their opponent to deal damage to the NPC.

Not long after, James' marksman character together with the tank also appeared a few feet away from where Sofia and Clark were hiding.

Just as they have expected, their opponents would eventually go farming.

As the jungle monster was finally spawned, the sound of a bullet and the mallet of the tank and marksman could be heard from the speakers loudly.

These characters started to hit the jungle monster with their initial skills and passive attacks.

"Hehe," some audience giggled on their seats and even the commentators could not help but smile at the two characters of the Chronos squad.

The marksman and the tank user of the Vultramites squad were completely oblivious that their opponent were just a few feet away from them!

The HP of the NPC decreased rapidly and just as the Vultramite's marksman was about to get the last hit, Sofia's thumb gently pressed a skill on her mobile screen. The movement was too simple but inside the game, it meant trouble to her opponents.

A hook appeared from the grass pulling the dying monster away from the marksman's attack! Then, the mage cast a skill to stun the NPC and got the last hit in the process!

"WOOAHH!!!"

"NICEE!!"

The audience clapped but remained attentive to all the movements on the map.

James took a sharp breath, clicked his tongue, and felt conflicted.

Since Sofia and Clark's character arrived earlier and had successfully concealed their presence on the grass, he did not expect them to steal the last hit of the jungle monster to be taken away all the advantages by Clark.

James' younger brother was just a newbie and the Vultramites squad had looked down on his gaming skills greatly. Clark does not have a fast hand on casting his skills. But if Sofia's tank would help this mage user to build his character in the early minutes of the game, all their assumptions about him as having a green hand would be proven wrong.

The commentators also looked at the screen where a replay of these four characters' interactions was giving a slow mode.

The HP of the jungle monster and the time when Sofia delivered her hook towards her target were given emphasis. And everyone had a glint of admiration in their eyes.

"That was great timing right there! The hook was cast not to kill the jungle monster, but to just bring it to her side so that the ally mage can finish it off! Well done to CEO UNRIVALLED! This tank had been displaying real skills to us!" one of the commentators quickly complemented and explained the purpose and timing of Sofia's attack.

"That's true! This will be so hard for the marksman user of the Vultramites squad to increase the level and overall stats of his character if the Chronos tank and the mage are guarding the jungle, what do you say?" the other commentator spared no time to speak his analysis also.

"Yeah, right! Based on these tactics, there is no doubt that the marksman is the core of the Vultramites squad and not their assassin. But on the Chronos squad, it is hard to identify who is their core! Hahaha! At least, at this point, we cannot distinguish their core yet. Look, their marksman is just on the bottom lane! Their tank and mage seemed to stick in a duo style. So, it makes me wonder if the mage is the core? or is it their assassin?" the first commentator speculated.

Indeed, on the Vultramites side, their assassin character was battling against Stephen's marksman on the lane. Only their marksman and tank were farming on their territory!

"They need to perhaps rally and take down the tank and mage of the Chronos squad so that they can benefit on their jungle! Otherwise, this mage and his stunning effect would also be troublesome to deal with if he would level up first!" the other commentator followed.
