Chapter 149 - Gou Chen

The two of them were standing in the middle of the office, holding each other around the waist. Jiang Yingyue's head was resting against Han Qingshan's chest, and his lips were gently kissing her hair.

It was a picturesque scene; no one would be able to watch it without sighing in admiration. However, no one was around to see them.

Han Qingshan had never felt that anything was missing in his life before, but after holding her in his arms, he was finally able to feel complete. It was as if he had been missing half of his soul before, and now it was full.

Jiang Yingyue was feeling the same way. She had spent so many years where she had been scared and filled with uncertainty about her future. She had been worried and knew that it could not go on, but she also knew it was impossible to change anything.

Now she, who was used to standing firm for both herself and her parents, was suddenly protected by someone else, and she suddenly felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted from her shoulders.

She was so relieved that Han Qingshan had appeared in her life. He had swept her off her feet, and although she had been against him at first, his gentleness had won her over.

Now he was her knight in shining armor. He was the one who had brought her out of her constant fear and worries; he had promised her a new and bright future.

Jiang Yingyue was feeling excited and happy when she was within his embrace. She felt as if she had finally found her home, somewhere she belonged. She could be herself at last.

No one knew how much time passed like this. Both of them were feeling at peace and happy, so they were reluctant to let go. They did nothing special; there was not even a kiss. Instead, they just hugged one another, feeling their closeness and the fact that their emotions were mutual.

Suddenly a knock was heard at the door, and Han Qingshan finally, reluctantly, released Jiang Yingyue before he moved back to his chair and called out, "Come in."

Song Liwei entered moments after, only to see that Jiang Yingyue was moving towards the sofa once more.

There was not even a slight bit of discomfort in Han Qingshan's expression. In fact, he seemed rather relaxed and pleased, so Song Liwei was relieved.

He had thought that after the blunder of allowing Yu Xiulan to enter, he would be chastised harshly, but it seemed as if Han Qingshan had no intention of doing so at all.

Song Liwei was puzzled, but seeing that he was not being scolded, he did not mention anything and handed some papers over to Han Qingshan. Jiang Yingyue was once more reading her book, not paying attention to Han Qingshan and Song Liwei. She seemed exactly like the madam of the company.

"I am not sure what Guo Chen's aim is. However, he is now in control of a full seventeen percent of Imperial World, whereas you are still the shareholder with the most shares. You do own seventy-two percent after all.

"This is where I do not understand Guo Chen. If he is trying to gain power in the company, then he needs to take over some of your shares too. However, you are not in a position where you need to sell your shares to earn money, so getting his hands on your shares is simply impossible, and if he collects all the other people's shares, he will still only have twenty-eight percent, not nearly enough to threaten you."

Song Liwei frowned as he spoke, and both Jiang Yingyue and Han Qingshan had listened curiously. What he said was correct, so what was Guo Chen doing?

"Maybe he trusts in Han Qingshan's judgment," Jiang Yingyue suddenly said. "Those two sold their shares because they thought Imperial World was a sinking ship. However, he might have had faith that Han Qingshan could turn it around, and make a small investment this way?"

This was the only reason she could think of. If he genuinely wished to seize power in Imperial World, he had to do something to Han Qingshan, and no one was that brazen. Han Qingshan was not only the CEO of Imperial World, but he was also the heir to the entire Han Corporation.

Hearing Jiang Yingyue's words, the men both felt that there could be some reasoning in what she said. It was entirely plausible that this was the truth.. Guo Chen had worked with Han Qingshan since he established the company, and it was only reasonable that he trusted in his longtime companion.
