Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
"The underground garage of the hospital is too dangerous. I am a bit uncertain of your safety here," Nathan gravely said.

His words startled Mandy. She thought Nathan was somehow overreacting. Mandy had worked long enough in that hospital to assume that she was safe within its confines.

"I'm not a child. You don't need to worry about me! Besides, there are lots of people here. I'm quite confident about my safety in this hospital," she said somewhat reassuringly.

"Just listen and follow my request. Please, Mandy!" Nathan urged worriedly.

Mandy grinned slightly at Nathan. She acknowledged the man's request and said, "Okay then, I must go upstairs now. Please call me when you get to the company."

Nathan nodded and proceeded to stretch out his hand. He ruffled Mandy's hair for a bit and then left.

The sight of Nathan stylishly walking away made Mandy's heart skip a beat.

She knew that Nathan was a decisive man and had never done things sloppily. But during those times, even Nathan thought twice before he acted. The man needed to do so, in order to preserve their family's safety. Mandy was extremely grateful for that.

Right at that moment, she felt remorse and sorrow. Mandy wanted to help her husband so badly.

Adrian was still sleeping soundly when Mandy returned to the ward. She carefully walked towards the bed so that her child wouldn't be disturbed from his rest. She found her way onto the sofa after she made sure that Adrian's vital signs were stable.

Meanwhile, Madeline was peeling an apple in the ward. She soon noticed her daughter to be in an unusual mood. "What has been bothering you recently, Mandy?" the old lady asked.

"I'm fine. No need to mind me," Mandy answered amiably as she looked down at her phone.

"You seem sad these days. Do you want to talk to me about it?" Madeline asked as she delicately put the knife down.

Mandy seemed to zone out of the conversation as she blank

little angel. I'm sure he will be fine!"

Madeline knew how difficult it was to have an ailing child. She had endured that pain twice in her life already. And now, for the first time, Mandy suffered the same anguish. Madeline could still remember the pain she felt when she almost lost Mandy in a car accident.

To this day, Madeline vividly remembered what the surgeon had said, "Ma'am, even if the heart transplant is a success, Mandy's health may be weaker than what it used to be. Her life may not be as long as that of ordinary people."

Regardless, Madeline took the risk. The surgeons had a successful operation. Maybe it was God's grace. Luckily, Mandy did not suffer any side effects or sequelae. People usually change after such operations, but Mandy was able to return to her normal life.

Madeline was a superstitious woman. She believed that Mandy's recovery was one of the most gracious things that the gods could ever give her. After Mandy's heart surgery, she went to the temple every week and prayed to the Buddha. She prayed and prayed for Mandy's health and safety. She knew that she would give her life, just so she could keep her children safe.

Mandy had always shared her mother's maternal instincts. Even Mandy was willing to give her life, just to keep Adrian safe.
