Chapter 803 Stumbling Block

"Yes, I need to go to work for a while," Nathan said hesitantly, an unfathomable look on his face.

"Nathan, don't worry about me. All the doctors and nurses are here to take care of both me and Adrian." Mandy frowned. She couldn't help but feel as if she and Adrian were a burden to Nathan.

She had heard about the fake diamond scandal that the JS International was dealing with. If Cassie hadn't mentioned it last night, she wouldn't have known. Still, she decided to not mention it to Nathan.

According to Cassie, it was quite a serious matter. A good number of their clients had already been harassing them for a refund and asking to return their products. She was surprised to find that Mandy didn't know anything about it.

Last night, both Mandy and Nathan were exhausted, so she didn't bother bringing up the issue to him anymore. She didn't need to, as she already knew that someone was merely framing JS International.

"Are you feeling better today? If you still don't feel good, you should rest more. Okay?" Nathan reached out his hands and held her in his arms. More than anything, he just wanted to hold her like this forever.

Lately, Mandy hadn't been feeling very secure. Perhaps, it had something to do with Adrian's illness—it seemed that he was only getting worse. Whenever he went into surgery, Mandy's heart ached. Nowadays, he had been going into the surgery room more often.

Despite searching for the cure day and night, the doctors still couldn't find the antidote. As expected, Mandy felt helpless.

"I'm feeling better now. Nathan, are we, me and Adrian, becoming a burden to you?" Mandy asked, her voice so low that it was barely audible. Her eyebrows were knitted together as she spoke, her face gloomy.

Even then, Nathan clearly heard every word

ed her head and asked, "Mom, Dad, what are you doing here?"

"We've come to see Adrian. Nathan told us that you had a fever last night. Are you feeling better now?" As Daisy spoke, she went up to Mandy and handed her a bowl of soup that she had prepared that morning.

Mandy lowered her gaze, feeling touched. She was lucky to have such a kind mother-in-law. Ever since she and Nathan had gotten together, Daisy had been nothing but nice to her.

"I'm okay now. Thank you, Mom." Mandy was at a loss for words. She felt as if she had regained her energy now.

Smiling gently, Daisy rubbed Mandy on the shoulders and said, in a comforting tone, "Don't worry. Everything's going to be okay. We'll be here for you. I trust that you and Nathan can get through this."

Adrian looked at Mandy, seemingly admiring his mother. Meanwhile, Jason fondly stroked his head and looked at him lovingly. Grandparents often had a special spot for their grandchildren. This rang true, especially for Jason as whenever he saw Adrian, he couldn't help but be reminded of Nathan, back when he was still young.

Around ten in the morning, Mandy received a phone call from an unknown number from Australia.
