Mandy shrugged it off. Smiling, she said, "Yes but... What does that have to do with me?"

"You snatched his heart. Shouldn't you take responsibility?" Nathan smirked.

"Take responsibility? I'll take responsibility. You just wait and see." She pushed him away angrily and sat far away from him, keeping her distance.

"How dare you!" The look on Nathan's face immediately darkened as he snorted coldly—he looked like he could eat someone up.

Unfazed, Mandy continued, "Weren't you the one who said that? That I have to take responsibility for him."

"Who told you that?" Nathan narrowed his dark eyes as he looked fixedly at her.

"I heard it clearly."

"You must have misheard."

Mandy merely ignored him as she took a slice of chicken chop. "I'm not arguing with you anymore. You're just being unreasonable. Are you a man?"

"Oh, you didn't know I was a man?" Nathan said with a snicker as he grabbed Mandy's arm.

"Well, stop doing that then. I'm not pushing you to other women, so you shouldn't be doing it to me," she said slowly, emphasizing each word as she looked straight into his eyes.

Nathan held her in his arms. Feeling the warmth of her body and inhaling her scent, he drew his neck back and rested his chin on her shoulder. "It's not going to happen. I'm never letting you go. You need to believe me."

She met his gaze, unable to shake off the feeling that something was up. Smiling knowingly, she asked, "What's going on? Are you really hiding something from me? I just can't shake off the feeling that something's up."

Nathan shook his head. For the briefest moment, something flashed across his eyes—so quick that even Mandy had missed it. "Nothing's going on. You're probably just hungry. Let's eat."

He taught her a lot of things and subsequently, led her to new realizations—he would tell her that the young generation needed to make their own decisions for them to be happy. As elders, they didn't need to get involved. They could merely watch from a distance and cheer them on.

He posed this question to her, "Do you really think that people are able to do what they want in their lifetime?

Most of us don't get to decide for ourselves. We can't choose what we want to do, which school we go to, which major we're going to study, what we do after graduation, and who we're going to be in the future. This is a free world. Why would we deprive our children of their freedom?"

Upon hearing this, Monica felt frustration arise in her chest. She knew it was her fault that Malcolm didn't get his happy ending with Ivy. She stole his happiness and killed the woman that could have made him happy. Ivy and Malcolm had cut off all contact with each other. Ivy kept her promise and could have lived a good and peaceful life despite being forcefully separated from the man she loved.
