Chapter 662 I'm So Tired

Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
Colin's gaze fell on Morry, and he was seized with a sudden recognition that he did not dislike her presence. Rather, he had welcomed her quietly. A warm sensation was on his arm from where her hand was. It spread slowly throughout his body, like spring thawing the cold of winter. In the past, Mandy had not once shown him any intimate gestures—the most were her holding his hand carefully as if she was hesitant to touch him.

A wry smile fell upon Colin's lips at the stark contrast between her and Mandy's touch.

If Mandy had loved him as much as Morry did, they could have been happy together.

No, had Mandy given him even a tenth of Morry's feelings, he would have scaled the distance and filled the lack with his own love. He would have been perfectly satisfied with that small drop of affection, but there were things that one could never force. There was no space in Mandy's heart for anyone other than Nathan.

At No. 520, Haibin Road

It was already past eight o'clock when Nathan, Mandy, and Adrian got home. Adrian had already fallen asleep in the back of the car, and his eyes were closed peacefully.

Nathan carried him out from the back seat, and Mandy followed behind him quietly. As they walked into the living room, the bright lights disturbed Adrian's sleep.

He opened his drowsy eyes as his head was nestled on Nathan's shoulder. Mandy watched as his gaze focused on her, and he sent a sleepy smile towards her direction. "Mom."

"Sweetie, are you tired? Or do you want to eat? I can cook noodles if you're hungry." Mandy walked up to Adrian and gently rubbed his smooth face. Her eyes were filled with motherly affection as she spoke to him.

Adrian shook his head slowly and yawned. "No, I'm not hungry. I just want to sleep. Can I… Can I sleep with you two tonight?"

Perhaps it was because they had been apart for too long, or perhaps from the many things that had happened today that tonight, Adrian was acting like a spoiled child.

Mandy gave him a small smile and stroked his hair. "Alright. Let Dad take you to the bathroom for a shower first, and then you can go to bed. Mom will go to the kitchen first to make noodles for Dad. Okay, honey?"

"Hmmm." Adrian nodded.

Nathan held his son carefully in his arms and headed upstairs to wash him.

The water temperature in the bathtub was just right. Adrian sat inside, half-asleep as his father lathered his body with soap.

It was a quiet moment between father and so

er eyes. The next moment, it was as if her body had finally recognized fatigue. Her shoulders grew heavy, and she sighed, "Nathan, I'm so tired."

Nathan heard the pain in her voice as she spoke. He held her tighter as his chest constricted as if her pain was his as well. It would have been so easy for him to make sure Lisa would be far away from Mandy so that she wouldn't appear in Mandy's life.

However, he was not the same person as he was before. Mandy's kindness had pierced through his cold-hearted defenses, and since then, he no longer knew how to go back. He did not have the heart to tear Mandy and Lisa apart, even though things were in a deadlock where no one would leave unscathed.

For the first time, Nathan heard Mandy say that she was tired.

It was something she had never admitted before, even when she was going through the hardest of times. For her to verbally express her exhaustion would mean that she was truly defeated. Nathan's eyes held a hint of anguish as he spoke. "If you're tired, then you can rest in my arms. I'll take half of all your grief, so use me. You don't have to be alone, Mandy."

He stroked Mandy's head and comforted her, and she allowed herself a small reprieve in his arms.

Tears began to well up in Mandy's eyes as she listened to Nathan whisper his reassurances. His arms wrapped around her like a blanket, and for a moment, she let go of her inhibitions and let herself be fragile.

The weight in her chest was easing up little by little.

After some time, Mandy freed herself from Nathan's arms and said with a small smile, "Let's eat the noodles. They're going to get cold."
