Chapter 618 Separate After A Month

Nacy's mouth curled into a faint, self-derisive smile. "Simon, do you know why I married you? It seems silly to think now, but I thought highly of you. I had a lot of respect for you after everything that we've been through. But tell me, did you even consider this when you lied to me? I don't care about your past with Bonnie, but that woman keeps on provoking me every time. She keeps pushing my boundaries, and instead of taking my side, what did you do? You went to a bar and even dared to go to a hotel after! How could you do that to me?"

"When did she provoke you?" Simon's eyebrows drew together as he squinted.

"Are you stupid? She came to find you again and again. Isn't that provocation? I don't think I can hold on much longer, Simon. I am tired of all of this." Nacy's body echoed her resentment, and Simon could see anger flare up in her eyes.

"I was only with her for business matters that night. Nacy, we have known each other for so many years, so why can't you believe me?"

She laughed incredulously, shaking her head. "You expect me to believe that? Suppose the media revealed that I was drinking with another man and spent the night in a hotel, what would you think? I don't believe you. If you think I'd be stupid enough to just tolerate that, you are sadly mistaken. Honestly, I never would have guessed you could pull a stunt like that. I must've hit my head, for you are nothing more than scum!" Her passionate outburst rang in the office, turning the atmosphere even more oppressive.

The last trace of calmness had left Simon's face. His jaw clenched as he suppressed his anger. "You're saying that I cheated on you, but do you have any evidence? What can a few pictures tell you?"

"You still want t—" Before Nacy could finish her words, a stab of pain gripped her strongly, knocking the breath out of her. Her eyes dimmed with terror, and her face turned white. Her hand flew to her stomach as bouts of tremors assaulted her in wave after wave.

As if in slow motion, she looked up and saw Simon's frame catch her as she staggered and went crashing to the floor. She could feel something wa

go of me either. We are wired the same way, and we're both stubborn." Ironically, Nacy spoke softly, yet everything she said was heavily burdened, like a boulder pressing on Simon's heart.

"I don't want to. I know you still love me, so why are you divorcing me?" Simon shook his head miserably, imploring her.

"So what if I still do? Simon, I'm tired. Please let me go. I'm begging you," Nacy said calmly. After she lost her baby, she did not want to weep or make a scene. She endured and accepted everything.

Simon remained still for a while. With a long sigh, he reached out his hand and smoothed the linen dotingly. With his hypnotic voice as gentle as before, he said, "Okay, I promise you we'll get a divorce, but let's wait until you recover first. In the meantime, can you promise me that you won't ignore or get angry with me for no reason? We'll be the same as before, okay?"

"Okay, I promise you. I hope you won't go back on your word."

"I won't."

"Then let's sign the divorce agreement tomorrow. We'll separate from each other after a month."

"Nacy, do we really have to do this?" He could not help but ask again, lest she change her mind. He could not understand why she was being so stubborn. He really did not sleep with Bonnie!

"If you're having second thoughts, then stop making promises. Talk to me after you think it through," Nacy snapped, her voice turning cold once again.
