Nathan had already considered all the possibilities.

However, the reply that Mandy made was completely beyond his expectation.

"What did my mother say then? Would you please tell me?" Mandy finally asked after a long silence.

Though several years had passed, Nathan still remembered what Madeline said to him in the hospital. The memory of it still pierced him like a cold knife, as her words were so humiliating.

"At that time, I asked your mother where Sharon had been transferred. Your mother said, 'I don't know where she is. She was transferred to another hospital because her family is poor, and her parents couldn't afford heart surgery. But what was the point? They have no money anyway. Transferring her to another hospital won't solve that problem.'"

Mandy clenched her fists and had tears in her eyes as she looked at Nathan.

"Nathan, I know she was like that. She didn't mean it. I asked her about it, but she refused to explain. I've always felt strange about it."

Nathan grasped both of Mandy's hands and said, "Do you hate me?"

"No. I might have hated you in the past, but not anymore. Since everything is over, why should I feel bitter?" Mandy shook her head and smiled warmly at him. She had already cleared away all the doubt in her mind.

"I was a good boy today! The teacher praised me!" Adrian said excitedly.

As if he had been used to it, he shrugged and said, "Okay, but please come back as soon as you can. Aunt is at home."

"Okay, be a good kid and listen to aunt and grandma. Daddy and Mommy will come back before you go to bed."

"Okay, bye, Mommy."

After ending the call, Mandy still held her phone. She opened her photo album and swiped through the pictures of Adrian one by one.

With a warm smile on her face, she asked, "Honey, how did you bring Adrian up to be such a good kid?"

"It's just a matter of good genes," Nathan answered smugly.

Suddenly, Mandy said, "I will give you to her in my next life."

What she meant was Sharon.

Nathan's lips thinned into a line, and he made no response. But his deep eyes were a little gloomy. However, he pretended not to hear what she said and drove the car into an underground garage.
