"You guys have already broken up. Why do you still mind these things? Do you still love him?" Damian already knew the answer to that question. He had only called Mandy here to see the drama.

Damian knew what kind of person Nathan was. When Nathan saw Mandy wearing a sexy dress, he wouldn't let her go so easily. And tonight, she might suffer a lot because of that.

"No, I don't love him anymore..." Mandy spoke hesitantly. Her eyes were low, and her face convulsed. A weird mix of feelings surged in her heart.

"That's good. You don't have to be afraid of anything, Mandy," Damian said and took her hand in his own, holding it tightly to comfort her. He was shocked to feel how cold her fingers were. He cupped both her hands in his fists, trying to warm them up.

Mandy was feeling so frustrated she couldn't control her emotions. The anger and sadness together overwhelmed her heart. Suddenly, she got up and adjusted her dress. "I have to go to the bathroom."

Just then, she saw a group of people walking toward them. Mandy's expression became sulky as she wondered what was going on. Why was Nathan's grandfather here?

She stood frozen in her place, at a loss about what to do next.

Eve, who was holding on to Henry's arm, looked at Mandy with a sinister smile pasted on her face.

"Damian, is this your partner? Why have I never seen her before?" Eve asked with immense curiosity as she halted near them with the others. Nathan stood in front of Mandy with a cold face. He didn't even look at Mandy.

"Yes, she is my girlfriend," Damian said with a gentle smile, with no hint of hesitance. With that, he put his arm around Mandy's waist and pulled her closer to him.

Nathan looked indifferent for the most part. Even though he remained physically unmoved, internally, he had noticed a small gesture that Damian had made at Mandy. Nathan decided not to bring anything up and remained quiet.

Nacy stood a little behind Nathan, observing him as he was staring at Damian. Both of them looked at each other in a mysterious way with a sense of underlying tension. It was hard to guess what they were thinking, but surely there was a lot of discomfort. It was almost as if they were two soldiers confronting each other right before the beginning of a war.

Mandy lowered her head in embarrassment. She didn't have the courage to look up into Nathan's terrifying eyes

the first two to dance. They had danced together ever since they were children. Nathan escorted Eve to the center of the room. Soon more men and women started joining in.

"Let's go dance." Damian looked at Mandy, who was sitting on the sofa with a rather sad face. Her eyes were pale as if they had a layer of dust on them. She no longer looked shy and nervous like before, but rather subtly angry.

"No," Mandy replied instantly and walked to the buffet area nearby. She got a glass of champagne and gulped it all down in one go.

"Damian, if I get drunk, please drive me home," she said upon seeing he had followed her. Mandy got another drink and rested her elbows on the bar, staring at Nathan dancing with another woman. She hated how cruel he was to her, and yet watching him dance with Eve brought tears to her eyes.

Why did it have to be Eve? Everyone circling around was looking at them, talking about what a perfect match they were.

The murmurs made Mandy sadder. She had thought she would forget about Nathan soon, and her life would return to how it was before him. But seeing him here stirred her feelings, making her feel like she had lost the love battle.

"Do you think drinking will make you feel better?" asked Damian with a frown as he reached for her glass. He didn't like to see Mandy like this.

"Drinking will at least help me fall asleep. I am a wimpy drinker...it doesn't take much for me to get drunk. So, yes, two glasses are enough to help me lose consciousness," Mandy said solemnly, looking into Damian's eyes with a helpless smile on her face.
