Chapter 264 Be Responsible For Bruce

Name:Billionaire's Gift Author:Rabbit
"Dr. Chen, go ahead with your work," Mandy said absentmindedly, different from her usually sweet demeanor, which worried Allen Chen.

"It's time for lunch. Let's eat." Allen frowned and grabbed Mandy's hand.

"No, I'm not hungry. I have to see a patient now. Dr. Chen, don't worry. I'm fine." Mandy smiled bitterly. She didn't want to bother Allen at this hour. Moreover, she didn't get along well with him.

Allen sighed in defeat. Mandy was stubborn, and there wasn't much he could do. Therefore, he quietly got into the elevator with her.

They took different paths when the elevator stopped at the ground floor. Mandy went to see Bruce, and Allen walked into the dining hall for lunch.

Bruce was in the ward, lying on the bed, staring at the ceiling. He had regained consciousness. When Bruce had opened his eyes, he had been oblivious to where he was or what he was doing. The nurse had informed him that he was at the JR Hospital under treatment for his injuries.

"Hey, Bruce! You are awake." Mandy smiled as she stepped inside the ward.

"Why are you here, Mand?" Bruce asked, trying to sit up, but he didn't have the strength to balance his body and fell on his back. He was looking weak and pale. His body was sore, and it felt like every bone in his body was hurting. He couldn't move a finger.

"Don't move. I'll roll the bed up." Mandy hurried to the other end of the bed and rolled it up.

"So, you are aware of what happened?" Bruce's deep eyes peered into Mandy's.

"I saw you being ushered into the hospital this morning. The doctor said that you have a mild concussion–nothing to worry about. You are under observation and have to stay at the hospital for a couple of days. Umm... Nathan and Nacy were here. They just left." Mandy nodded and walked to the other side of the bed.

"So, Nacy also knows?" Bruce snickered bitterly.

"Yeah, she does. She has made a clean break from me!" Mandy said, trying to sound emotionless, but her lips quivered when she uttered the words. It was too painful to say the words out loud.

"Mand…" Bruce trailed off, biting the inside of his cheek, trying to suppress his emotions. He didn't have the strength to look at Mandy like this. Sorrow, regret, and grief were

ering the beads of the rosary in his hand.

"Dad, who are you talking about?" Damian asked, feigning innocence. He had always thought that he had put up a cool front and successfully concealed his feelings for Mandy from his dad. But he was wrong, Luke had seen right through his act.

Damian had liked Mandy the moment he laid his eyes on her. But he had never admitted the truth. He had promised himself not to fall in love with her. But as time went by, he missed her presence more and more.

He didn't understand what was so special about Mandy that it lured him. Was it her kindness, thoughtfulness, or innocence? Whatever it was, Damian was in trouble. He couldn't help but think that she was different from the rest.

"Oh, come on! You know that you can't lie to me," Luke said, looking dead serious.

"Dad, don't worry. Everything is within my grasp!" Damian managed to smile, even though there was a hint of sorrow in his voice. He always over-analyzed everything. At that moment, he felt that helping Luke and reviving the Shi Family was more important than anything else.

"That's good!" Luke smiled with relief.

At that hour, a housemaid ushered Mandy into the villa. The living room was magnificent with opulent decorations, which was in complete contrast with how it was when Mandy came before. The room was garnered with flowers and plants. The furniture made of sandalwood added a classy touch to it. The room had both a modern and ancient aura at the same time.
