Mandy walked over and glanced up at her phone, checking the time. It was just thirty seconds from when Nathan had called her. She thought for sure that it was late, but from the looks of the time, it was just 9:40.

"Hey, Nathan." Mandy folded her legs, combing her wet hair. The strands dripped across her skin, but she didn't really give it much thought.

"Where did you go today? Your sister said you came back really late," Nathan demanded, the sides of his mouth twitching.

The fact was, he actually already knew where Mandy went. This was why he knew exactly when to call her. He was a smart man with equally powerful connections. With just a click, he'd know where she went.

"I went out to have dinner with my colleague." Mandy rubbed her temples at the thought, sighing. It had been a stressful day, but she still didn't know if it was worth it. She wasn't sure if Cassie would listen to her, but either way, she'd already given her a chance...It was her turn to show some effort.

"Which colleague?" Nathan raised an eyebrow.

"Cas."

"Your schedule seems pretty free, with all that time in your hands to grab dinner with her," he commented as he lounged on the sofa. He had his legs crossed, and his eyes were switching over to his tablet as he watched the events unfolding in the stock market.

JS International's stock was at the top, as usual, and it hadn't fallen ever since Nathan took the lead. It was a complete mystery how it stayed at the top for so long, and it was one of Nathan's legacies.

"No, what are you talking about? It is just that it has been so long since I've last seen her." Mandy scoffed, like a spoiled child who didn't get what she wanted.

On the other side of the phone, Nathan paid no heed to the stock trends as he placed the tablet on the side table. "You act like a kid whenever I'm not around," he noted, an endearing smile painted across his expression.

"Seriously?" Mandy blinked. The last thing she could be described as was a spoiled child. It was one thing she truly wasn't. At least that was what she thought as she blurted the word out.

Before she met

e there was a standardized test, Fiona would always rank a point lower than Ethon or get the same rank as him. Although they didn't really talk to each other, they always had a healthy competitiveness that bonded them together.

Since Elementary, things didn't change a bit. Ethon had always impressed Fiona, even if they were in different classes. They barely had a chance to get to know each other, even though their names were heard all around the No. 1 High School.

Though Ethon was in the honors class while Fiona was in a normal one, Bruce couldn't help but feel as if Fiona had a chance of beating him, given her straight-A grades.

"I won't let you down, Mr. Xu." Fiona clenched her fists as she set her phone down. 'Now that Ethon isn't here, I'll definitely get to that first spot.'

Bruce smiled, feeling relieved that he could encourage Fiona. He glanced through the window, the scorching heat on the side of his face, but he didn't seem to mind. Unlike most people, Bruce liked the summer. It was one of the seasons where everyone would work hard, through nit and grit, and it was always something that he was amazed at.

The sun penetrated through the glass and pierced through his skin, the heat spreading across his body.

Not long after, Eve arrived. She was wearing light makeup that emphasized her eyes and lips. She looked perfect, like a natural goddess who stepped out of the forest.
